The only way this Final Four will be redeeming at all for Michigan fans is if:

1) Duke demolishes MSU (lesser of 2 evils; love seeing Izzo wallow)

2) Wisco gets revenge on Kentucky (I can root for our Badger brethren)

3) Wisco dominates and pulverizes Duke in the final (Fuck Duke)

If any team from the B10 is gonna win the National Title that isn't us, Wisco is a school I can live with.

Shooting 4-4 from 3 isn't sustainable.  Duke destroyed MSU on the inside however is.  MSU will cool off and MSU's front court will be in foul trouble in a hurry.

There are several reasons I'd rather see MSU win than Duke. I like Izzo, as a competitor, and a class guy. I don't think he is sleazy like many coaches out there. I like that he helped Beilein when Beilein first came to Michigan. I like the Big 10, and hate Duke. I'd probably feel differently if I lived in Michigan. Or if Izzo was a huge scumbag. But I can't stand the smugness of Duke. I still have bad memories about Duke - Michigan games from more than 20 years ago. And I really hate the one and done dynamic. Duke, just a half step behind Kentucky, loads up with freshmen. The last reason I want MSU to win is that I believe they can beat Duke, but I also believe there is no way MSU beats Kentucky or Wisconsin. For me, the perfect scenario would be a Big 10 final game, with a Wisconsin win.

I hear all this hate for MSU, and I kind of understand it. But I still want the Big 10 to win. I'm with Harbaugh on this one. Here's what he said about Ohio State vs. Oregon:

"I'm going to be rooting for Ohio State," Harbaugh said Thursday, on the Rich Eisen Show. "I'm a Midwesterner and I was raised in Ohio and went to Michigan and raised in Michigan as well, but for Big Ten football, for Midwest football, a lot of talk about other conferences, I think it's just fabulous that a team in our conference is playing in that game."

I feel the same way as Harbaugh. Yeah, I don't like MSU, and I don't like OSU, but I want to stomp them myself. I don't want to see SEC or PAC10 or ACC teams beat up on the Big 10.

And Izzo was rooting for Michigan when we were the only team left.

Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo said all along that he was supporting all Big Ten teams in the NCAA tournament. And he was singing the same tune today, even with archrival Michigan the lone conference team remaining and two wins away from a national championship. "I do have great respect for John (Beilein) and the job he’s done," Izzo said.

As I get ready to save this post, I see that Duke is beating MSU handily. Which will undoubtedly make many of you happy. But I am loyal to our conference, even if that means rooting for the Spartans.

That’s not the same. Head coaches have to sometimes say what’s politically correct and take the high road. Izzo and Harbaugh would’ve looked like they were spewing petty sour grapes if they didn’t say those positive comments about their rivals. Izzo wanted to show public respect for Coach Beilein, but I seriously doubt he was really pulling for Michigan to win a National Championship on the inside. He hates us. Taking the respectable high road means you sometimes have to hide the way you really feel.

I used to agree re: Izzo, but not lately. I think he was more of a class act back when Michigan sucked and were no competition for him on the court or in recruiting. He could be a gracious winner because he would always be the winner. I think as Michigan's improved under Beilein he's started to get a lot bitchier toward Michigan. Dantonio has also had an impact, it's like Izzo has tried to match his prickish-ness.
