Final Day Of The Regular Season Open Thread
It's the last day of the regular season. I know its not as exciting as we'd hoped, but if anyone wants to chat about college hoops, be it Michigan or anything else going on in an insane week of action fire away. let's rap.
And, if you think I started this thread to pimp my own blog where we have posts today on the tournament bubble and watching my addiction ascend to new heights (we're thinking positively here), well, maybe you're right.
But I'd like to talk college hoops as well.
MSU hasn't scored a single point in over 5 minutes, yet they still lead by 12. This boggles my mind.
Beilein must be beside himself. When we aren't committing silly turnovers, we're getting decent enough shot attempts - but they never go in.
On a side note, for a team looking to win the conference, MSU is incredibly careless with the basketball.
It will be a slight comfort to get watch them get their shit tossed when they face a decent team in the tournament
making it out of the first weekend
Yes, recruiting "good shooters" who shoot 9.1% 3pt, 21.7% fg, and 37.5% ft in the first half seems somewhat like an oxymoron to me. What happens to these "good shooters" in between high school and when they start playing for Michigan??? You can't win games shooting 21% from the field.
Manny is like 1-7. Just sayin'.
Wow taunting a player because he gets injured?
Stay classy MSU fans
damnit
hightower playing to the home crowd
Hightower looks angry at the fact that this is his job. Evidently you can also throw an opposing player to the ground. Interesting set of rules we've got today.
I'd take Manny or Novak any day in a fight over Raymar's soft ass. As I type that, he gets that lay up. I hate that piece of shit. Have fun getting bounced in the second round.
After Morgan threw down Novak, I really, really wish Manny had gotten to Morgan and just obliterated him with a punch. I know- classless, etc, but jesus fucking christ. You're a man first, basketball player second. If someone throws one of your buddies to the ground like that out at a bar or something, I'm fairly sure you cold cock him, no questions asked. Seeing as that wasn't a basketball play but a fucking mug job, I'd have been completely satisfied with Manny laying him out and taking a suspension. I can't believe he didn't even get a T on that play (Morgan). Fucking ridiculous.
How can it be so rough at one end and then a touch fall on Morgan's breakaway layup. I hate Big Ten officiating. Izzo-ball is an insult to basketball.
I really hate him
1 for freaking 10 from behind the line! How in the hell did this team catch AIDS at shooting the basketball this year?
That's not right. I think we're 5-10.
I meant 3-point line, where we are now 1-12. Though nice to see we also can't make half of them from the charity stripe (3-8 right now). How the fuck does that happen? I'm pretty sure there are intramural teams on campus that could destroy those numbers.
His players play dirty defense. They are nothing but a bunch of bruce bowens
that is an insult to Bruce Bowen.
Spartan homer on the clock... Sound familiar?
Wow...such class.
And give us their funding?
Nice phantom call there. Morris fouled the air quite hard.
Morris didn't touch Morgan.
if we're going to lose we might as well cause some spartan injuries
I absolutely hate state
No, but Morgan deserved to get SOMETHING done to him after he threw Novak down. I can't stand that he did that and didn't get a technical, or at least pushed or something by one of our guys. I can handle losing, but man, that play really pissed me off. It irks me that Morgan got away with that and Manny or someone didn't fucking tackle him or at least make damn sure he knew that such bullshit will not be tolerated, win/lose be dammned.
After the crowd started cheering the thuggery on like that
Gaymar Morgan
i hate state
If Raymar 'accidentally' gets an elbow to the face and it breaks his nose, I will have no complaints.
??????????? Too bad we couldn't throw it over half court with 1 second left on the shot clock on the 1 we actually run that ended up being an airball.
The hope that Kirk Cousins is looking up at Craig Roh all game long
Hahaha just the thought of Kirk "Throw an Interception in the Big Spot" Cousins made me laugh. Thanks for somewhat brightening my day.
morgan wont score a single point in the second half. hes the sidney crosby of college basketball when it comes to performing under pressure.
there is not much pressure when the other team is down by 20
With an 18 point lead?
And Sidney Crosby made a rather clutch goal at the Olympics
We are getting killed inside WITH Sims and Gibson. What is going to happen next year?
Also Rivals reporting one of our young guys got hurt and may need surgery (can't see who don't have access - rumor is Jordan Morgan though). If true we pretty much have to offer Horford so we can just have a couple of actual bigs next year.
This year is seriously snake-bitten in a way I can't describe.
It is Jordan Morgan.
end this miserable season already
We need more experience, more height, more depth, more rebounds, more D, more everything. Sorry but that looks to be the case to me. Green is still d$@& ugly. Go blue!
Go Blue!
This game really is meaningless. If we want to get into the NCAA tournament, we have to win 3 in a row. Michigan had a bad game today. But if we play like we did against Minny, anything is possible.
We have to win four in a row. We aren't getting a first-round bye in the BTT.
This game was crucial to getting into the NIT. That's still pretty important especially for a frosh point guard.
we'll need a stellar effort to pull this win out. tenacious d, points in the paint to open the outside shot, more tenacious d, three balls, rinse, repeat.
let's make these fools remember who stymied their quest for a big ten banner.
we'll need a huge effort.
That has to be a record.
Ha yea... I think we had like either 14 or 16 in the first half at Penn State.
14 is just, wow
There's a reason Michigan was ranked so high in the preseason. Unfortunately a couple of early loses really threw off the confidence of this team and they haven't been the same since. I hope coach can muster up a pep talk that will motivate the team to forget about the regular season and start playing like they know they can (which is a lot better than they are playing today). Stay confident my fellow Michigan fans. This is college basketball. Expect the unexpected! I'm still optimistic we can serve up an upset in the BTT and make it to the NIT.
