Final capacity after renovations question
Ok they said the final capacity after the renovation is done will be 108,201 right? Do they mean after just the luxury boxes are done, or after they also widen seats over the next few years? Because if it's after the the seats get widened, what would the capcity be if they didn't widen them? Would you guys rather have a capacity of over 110,000 or a wider seat by 1/2"-1"?!

From what I read... They are not widening the seats for another year or two. So next yr we will break the record every game probably.

Seriously, I'd want both. Had to pick? The extra space. Nothing is worse than sitting next to Charlie Weis taking up 3 seats.

After the boxes are done, the capacity next Sept is thought to be over 110,000, but that is temporary as they begin to widen the seats.

I wider seat for sure. The capacity will by up over 110,000 next year. They will slowly begin to take seats out of the bowl after 2010, taking it down to 108.

As everybody knows, the announced attendance is always larger than the stated capacity. (usually 110,000+ vs. 107,501 as stated currently) This is because they count every single body in the place, including players, coaches, visiting bands, press box types, food service workers, maintenance crew, rooftop snipers, etc.
I wonder, with the addition being 10X as big as the existing press box, will the actual attendance have an even larger overrun than the current 4,000 - 5,000 push seen on big game days?

I might have some materials with details, on numbers. I attended a donors' meeting several years ago, when the project was still a controversy. I was among many people who weren't happy. I imagined the stadium being very much darkened, and shadowy. I didn't like the fact that they were going to be building lots of premuium seating without adding much new parking for Victor's Club members, etc.
To make along story short, in the space of about 45 minutes, Bill Martin, along with the architects, and the associate AD's, and with the aid of an amazing powerpoint presentation, totally sold me. Turned me around 180 degrees. A tour de force. I walked out, shaking my head in amazement; THAT was why Bill Martin was a millionaire developer. It was brilliant.
Anyway, they pick up several thousand premium seats, and some new bench seating where the old press box was. They lose some in-bowl seats for aisle widening, even more handicap-accessible seating, and seat-numbering adjustment. It is a modest net gain.

I vote for wider seats. After the OSU game this year I'm not sure we need more seats available for the opposition to buy.

you will get both wider isles with hand rails and wider seats. i promise.
