A few minor recruiting notes (Dunn edition)
I love your posts and thank you for contributing...
but please learn to format!
Thank you, I type these up on my phone so the formatting is poor as a result.
Did Greene give any other information about the OSU visit? Like how Dunn felt it went?
Have I told that I love you? I do.
It's like... not even that bad, man.
it's like... all of his posts have tons of great info but are squinched together, man.
(Still, great info and appreciate the posts)
I take it you are a fan of one sentence paragraphs...
Sounds like you need a better eyeglass prescription
No - it sounds like you need ot move on or get a life. Seriously? Complaining about a one paragraph, informative posting because of FORMATING??? Go harass some seven year olds for their spelling.
Also Tommy Schutt seems to be going to Ohio.
It's a rumor at this point but it does seem that way.
Schutt is so weird. Spends his whole recruitment basically wanting to go to ND, then misses the boat as Day commits. ND says " thanks, but no thanks." Then basically goes to a news media outlet saying "I'm visiting UM and am going to commit", to which UM says "thanks, but no thanks" and takes Pipkins. Then in the same weekend, goes to PSU and commits. Now he takes one official to Ohio and is seemingly going to commit. Kind of weird.
And I'll say it again, PSU needs to get a coaching staff in place. Ohio is after Carmen Williams as well.
I was VERY unimpressed with Schutt when his team was on ESPN2 back in early September or so.
Awsome news! This class could be unreal when all is said and done.
Well, that is certainly some good news.
sooooo dunn didnt commit to ohio this weekend? winning
There would be no need for him to commit.
Right but if he confirmed his commitment that would have been bad for us IMO. He's visiting us so that's huge in itself. Still 50-50.
Dunn setting his OV to Michigan means that he is still in play.
Big news, thanks OP!
When your already committed I don't think you have again do you you?
could definetly reaffirm and cancel other visits though.
Already was an Ohio commit. The fact that he's taking an official to Michigan is the important news.
Jordan Diamond has time of his life at TSIO. He still plans on taking all officials and announcing on signing day per scout.
He has loved every visit he has been on. I think it might just be recruit-speak.
Right that's why I said take fwiw. Just passing some recruiting info. about a highly sought after recruit.
Anybody know if he picked up some new ink on his visit?
he was given a car to take home for a test drive for a couple weeks.
Awesome that they're still on the market, as it were. Hopefully, one more CB and one more RB are coming our way. Remember to let them know, "This is Michigan....fergodsakes!"
If Dunn is an EE, then i think he already have a decision made up in his mind cause he doesnt have that much time left to make sudden decisions. In my opinion, if he did not commit within the next 48 hours, then he's probably going to commit to Blue when he comes to Ann Arbor. Just my thought
I tend to agree with you. If he actually shows up on UM's campus next weekend, he's going Blue. He's had the in-home with Meyer, he's had the offical visit weekend with Meyer, he's very familiar with Ohio. If he doesn't re-affirm soon, then I don't think he's going to Ohio.
we still have a Hoke in home left in the pocket...
Pretty sure that happened on Thursday.
Borgeous and Jackson went.
Apparently I was VERY wrong. Thanks for the correction guys.
Borges and Jackson were there! Not hoke!
You're incorrect. That was Borges and Jackson visiting Dunn's family, including grandparents and Dymonte Thomas, on Thursday night.
I heard a coach can only visit a limit number of recruits per season, is this true?
So that is what the posters above are getting at. That's the ace in the hole still available to be played, if need be.
So OSU can have two in-home visits by Meyer and Fickell. Now i see why DB was upset with NCAA.
there will be no verbal. He'll just show up on campus the beginning of January. He saw what Ohio fans did and said about Kalis so why go through the same thing.
Maybe i'm late to notice, but FWIW, Dunn's status on the scout recruiting page has changed from committed to tSIO to soft verbal and has us listed as High.
Yea I think scouts rule on that us once a commited player takes an official to another school, they place their status as soft commit.
Don't read any additional significance in to that. Scout automatically lists a guy as a soft verbal if he's taking official visits to other schools.
He has been a soft (verbal) for ohio since Tressell was gone on Rivals.
It is really refreshing to think how awesome the defense could be in a couple years.
The OP mentions Dunn and Reeves, a defensive player. I'm not sure that Sckon's speculation that Reeves could help us form an awesome defense is so off topic.
A little touchy maybe?
Since all recruiting threads must turn into discussion of Dunn, any post that includes a mention of Dunn must be only about Dunn in the comments. Or something...
new thread. But 247 Lions says that Michigan is in visiting Armani Reeves as of one hour ago.
How many early enrollees do we have?
How soon do they have to enroll, does anyone know the timeline they have, going thru admissions, signing up for classes, etc.?
If we can get 2 top recruits is great....to nab them away from our rivals is even better!
You mean a recruit met the great U. Meyer and didn't immediately bow down at his shrine and sign/recommit? The sky isn't falling?
It's just Ringer, Bolden, and Wilson.
I'm not sure about this, but I believe that they have to be enrolled by the last day of drop/add. I think that's what happened with Devin Gardner (enrolling on or near the last day).
that Dunn's visit to Ohio wasn't anything special and if I read the cryptic parts right, he was not impressed when he left.
We have a shot, especially if he does an OV. Brady still hasn't sat down with him and once he does, it's all over but the early enrolling.
i miss the days of watching pooh bear...stupid finals.
That is one of the best gifs I've ever seen
crap that's huge, I really think he's going Blue.
You're telling me there's a chance.....
anyone have the cliff notes for the GoBlueWolverine content?
That Dunn might not be an EE anymore.
This could go on for months then
NSD is February 1st so a month and a half if he's not EEing.
he could still take a little while after that if he wanted
April 1st is the final date to sign.
You don't have to sign an LOI. You can just enroll if you want.
If I were in Dunn's inner circle I would advise him to just make a decision already. He wanted to be an EE, and he's had a ton of exposure to both schools. It's a tough decisions but he's not going to gather any more information or get to know anyone better. He knows what's up. He's just afraid to pull the trigger. Waiting til signing day would be a waste of time just to waffle around some more.
he isn't necessarily being wishy-washy, though it certainly seems like it at times. There's speculation that he's trying to avoid the backlash from Ohioans that he is bound to receive. Kyle Kalis had it happen when he switched to Blue. His inner circle might want to avoid that as long as possible. Especially if he EEs, in which case he can get out of Dodge, OH, and enroll just after an announcement.
However, the longer it goes on, the longer it seems like he just doesn't know. I would rather he tell Ohio (with a middle finger held high) that he's going Blue and they can say what they want. Then I would know he's willing to go through some BS for us. Ohio be crazy, though, man... so it might even be a case of keeping him safe, in extreme circumstances.
This was probably the biggest news of the night. If nothing else, it could give him a chance to visit USC.
20+ touches /gm @ UM or 5-10 touches for the silver team. What would you choose if you were a big back?
Bri'onte Dunn had a good time and all the current commits were working him pretty hard. Dunn was telling people he's going to work on getting Kalis to flip over to the Bucks, obviously a good sign. A couple of the commits I spoke to all said they think Bri'onte will stay with OSU. Dunn is supposed to visit Michigan next week. let's see if that happens. If he does, I won't be as confident as these players
Ohio fans are confident too
That's not really the feeling I got from the Bill Greene interview.
It really does seem like he's torn.
nothing you haven't read here. He didn't reaffirm his commitment to OSU and he did schedule a UM visit.
If dunn is recruiting kalis on michigans campus, hoke needs to get him out of here. I can only imagine ohio fans running around braggin about stealing kalis
Kalis won't flip, they burned that bridge when he switched to Michigan. Secondly, Brionte was being barraged during this visit, and he still didn't reaffirm.
and NONE are going to tsio. Not sure there is much support from their HS coach about going to "state u". Michigan is VERY proven when it comes to O-linemen going into the NFL. Any pro-style lineman will prefer a pro-set vs. a spread offense anyday.
Its best to get the last shot!
i understand the guy is a established writer/source but damn that is just like an Ace Williams article. No way Kalis goes back that bridge is burned, Urban also called him and he said thanks, but no thanks. Kalis and Strobel will be roommates next year so that helps our cause
I don't believe that for a second
Ohio fans are still confident that they'll win Hoke's first game against them. I wouldn't put too much stock in what they're thinking. They're not used to doing it.
With Michigan having Fitz for a few more years and his replacement possibly already in the system with Rawls, I don't get the constant preoccupation with Dunn. I would love to have any recruit of his calibur, don't get me wrong, but it seems to me that I would rather have a great o-lineman or especially some great DBs or DLmen,
I am more excited about Wright/Reeves because of need down the line than I am about Dunn. Also, I am a bit tired of the Dunn drama, him going one way or the other. I worry whether he is just playing everyone to build the drama, though I know it must be tough for a kid to make this kind of decision with all this attention.
I like Dunn, but for me, it would be a painful loss for Ohio if we switch him. If we lose out, not as big a deal. That is why I care, I want additional flaming knives darting into the side of Ohio's tatoo laden skin.
However, the Schutt recruitment makes me feel we should have taken him. You can never have too many big DT, and to see him going to them sucks
that it is not the end of the world whether or not we get this guy. In his defense he has been pretty low profile and keeping it close to the vest. I think that blogs and media are making more noise about him than he is. I remember recruiting prior and he seemed to love the attention and would do things to encourage it. I do not get that vibe as much with Dunn. Regaurdless he has a very difficult decision to make and I know either way this board wiil handle it with class. Hope he goes Blue
Wrong. This is life or death just like Justin King, RoJo and Demar Dorsey.
... and that traverse city guy that went to Oregon, and Joe Crawford & Malik Hairston...
We know Dunn is special. But we also are enjoying a great recruiting year, a great season..and we want this kid to want Michigan..another chance to beat tsio by getting him. So we win by getting him, AND he just happens to be highly talented. we hungry
It's not just us gaining a running back and a commit, it's us gaining a running back and commit and Ohio State losing one. The kid is deciding between two rivals, why are you surprised that people are intrigued and excited about it?
I am just saying that we should all be equally excited about other prospective recruits. These things tend to take on a life of their own when the recruit can't quite decide. It would be awesome if Michigan could grab Dunn, but people have been pumping it up to be the end-all-be-all of Michigan's recruiting efforts. In the grand scheme of things it isn't as huge as its being made out to be. In the short run yes it is incredibly important.
Dunn's commitment goes a long way as far as setting the tone for how Hoke will recruit Ohio. He is not going to be shut out like we were while Tress was there. He does not care whos coaching or how big of a recruit it is it will not be a forgone conclusion that they will go to tsio.
I keep reading this on mgoblog, but it's somewhat revisionist history. Yes, RR didn't have much success against Tressel, but LC got a lot of star recruits against Tressel.
Manningham, Crable, Burgess and "he who must not be named" come to mind.
Even RR got JT Turner, which was a big deal at the time.
Looking back at past classes, it seems like there was about 1 big recruit per year from Ohio. It'll be interesting to see if this continues versus Urban Meyer.
took me awhile to realize you meant Boren. (you meant Boren, right?)
we're selling jerseys in ohio...
What might this mean for the tide on the rivalry?
Let's hope we're put on buckle up watch next week.
i think he ran into a buzzsaw with hoke and mattison. we are already too deep into ohio for him to stop the train. we win the sugar bowl and lock up a top 3 class and steal brionte right out of his hands and watch out....he knows we got the best d coordinator and recruiter hes ever had. if he thinks he steps into tht job and its gonna be title town time...forget it. hes gonna be begging for hokes mercy next november. book it
Exactly. Selling jerseys in Ohio is a big deal.
link from Sam on twitter reguarding Dunn and his visit. It is behind a pay wall and I don't have an account so here ya go. bit.ly/u2cHHY
I think we have filled all of our major needs except for a TE. There are some positions that we may lean towards adding more depth but for the most part i think we will be looking for best available at any position. We are in awesome position for some amazing kids from here on out i think its just gonna be adding big names to an already great class. I cant wait to see how Hoke and Company finish down the stretch.
I want Hokemania to continue his focus on Defense. Dunn is Pryor all over again. He drags it along as if he is sincere and has no intention. Go after Boehm for the O line and D up the rest of the way.
Dunn is not Pryor, not even close.
If Dunn canceled his visit to UM, I'd be nervous.
Oh, and Kalis isn't going anywhere.
Even Voldemort would agree that Mr. Plow should be referred to as "he who must not be named."
Regardless of nomenclature, it is a good idea to tip him when he delivers your pizza.
He came out and said that he will not be able to finish his school work by December. So that gives more time and pressure. So we really won't know what he is going to do for a while potentially.
He was a couple of days ago, what happened?
He had a couple more weeks to finish up some school work, but something must have fallen through. He was quoted today saying he's happy that the pressure is relieved somewhat since the decision date isn't firm until February, and that he will be unable to graduate early.
I'd give you some actual quotes but it is paywalled and I hear it's a no-no to do that ... so. Yeah. We may not know soon. Kinda sucks. But maybe that leaves us open for a surprise 'Hello' post.
1DB, 1RB, 1WR, 1OL, and still one possibly to TE. Dunn is a big deal because he is a OSU commit, and converting him to the good side will deliver a first below to urban liar on his new job and sets the tune for the recruiting battle between the two programs in the coming years. And the best part is: there is nothing to loss for us. Liar knows it and hoke knows it, and that's why both of them are pulling all the strings for this.
Hankins part II, Electric Boogaloo. I really don't get why the Michigan staff would not want a dominate interior DL given our needs there. And yes I think we still have a huge need there even with 5 DL in this class.
Wont be the best weekend on campus. There wont be much going on. Especially night life. Due to being in the heat of Finals! GO BLUE!!
I want them both. Along with Banner and Garnett. This would perfect the class.
Sam Webb just said on his Recruiting Roundup sement that now Dunn will not be an early enrollee. He said Dunn would still like to be an EE, but won't be able to get things in order in time to make that happen. As a result, he says Dunn can take a little bit more time in the deliberation process and there's a chance he could wait until February to make a decision.
