A few minor recruiting notes

Submitted by Gobluegr on
This weekend was a very positive weekend for Michigan and their recruitment of Yuri Wright and Jordan Payton. Yuri Wright had previously stated that his top two were Colorado and Michigan and it seems as if his official to Colorado did not go well. He tweeted this about his visit "Yeah last night was the worst night man (people) aint do (stuff) and that was my last night here...." the words in parenthesis are my replacement for not so nice words he used. Rivals had a good article about his recruitment and his plans to visit Michigan in January http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1304704... Jordan Payton visited Cal this weekend and it seems as if the Cal coaches are not confident that they will land him. Greg Biggins tweeted "Hearing WR Chris Harper was offered by #Cal on his visit, don't be surprised to see a quick commitment" this would be their fourth reciever in this class, and it does not seem as if Cal would take a fifth. They were in Payton's top three with Michigan and Notre Dame, so it looks like Michigan still has a good shot at him.

Ah, I thought that was last weekend. In that case, didn't he reschedule his Michigan visit for next weekend with Kalis? It will be interesting to see how he reacts to this visit. If he still wants to visit Ann Arbor after this weekend, I would say we're in fantastic shape.

There don't need to be daily Dunn updates. If there was news, it probably would have been included. Your comment minimizes a pretty informative post.

Its not that big of a deal and I don't mean to go after one person, but I just think people get overly fixated on certain recruits. Its better to enjoy the good news and not set yourself up to be disappointed if an eighteen year old doesn't make the choice you want.

people are paying so much attention to Dunn is due to the recent activity regarding his recruitment. Borges and Jackson were just in home with his family, the official this weekend and then hopefully the visit to UM next weekend. In light of the OV to ohio it makes sense that fans have their antenna up regarding news about yesterday. Getting him would not only add a big 5* talent in an area of need it would also signal another victory towards the changing tide in the Ohio/Michigan rivalry. Similar to the competition for the services of one TP, when RR arrived, whom I'm glad we never saw sporting maize n blue. Hopefully this one turns out with Dunn in the fold.

I think Borges and Jackson having an in home with his family is not negative. Quite the opposite, I think it's very positive. If this was just a fomality, if he were still leaning heavily toward ohio or even undecided why have Borges and Jackson meet with the entire family? Why muddy the waters with their involvement? If you're going to make a decision that may be unpopular with the community I would think it makes sense to enlist their support ahead of that decision.

He may be getting a lot of interest right now but it's because prospects want to see what's going down at OSU. It will have an affect on 2013 recruiting but there will always be those prospects that want to come to Michigan like Dymonte Thomas. Also it may seem like we aren't recruiting much but our coaching staff is preparing for a bowl game while at OSU they have one staff preparing for the bowl game and the other staff purely recruiting

I received word from a little birdy Friday night that the visit didn't start off very well.  No idea if that sentiment carried through the weekend, nor would I consider that an ironclad guarantee that Ohio is sunk.

The consensus opinion is if he schedules a visit to Michigan then we are still in the running for the man's pledge.

By all accounts Chesson is the last WR in the class, seeing as how he will announce in about 10 days, and Payton hasen't come close to wrapping up his recruitment yet. Great news on Yuri, though, he is a total stud. Thanks for the updates!

He's not quite that good. Especially with the class winding down like it is, I doubt we would take any WR except for Diggs if we already had 2 in the class. Payton is a consensus 4 star, and assuming Chesson commits the rest of the guys on our radar will be 4/5 star guys at positions that have not yet been filled.
