A few minor recruiting notes
December 4th, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
I think he's gonna be a good one. I believe he's a more athletic LB in the mold of Desmond Morgan. Heady, great leader.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:03 PM ^
only faster, with the closing speed of Charles Woodson combined with the tackling ability of Ian Gold.
December 4th, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
a Josh Garnett or Jordan Diamond? Just wondering.
December 4th, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
Both Garnett and Diamond are still long shots. Especially Diamond, if he comes to the B1G he'd go to OSU.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
You don't know that at all. If anything, we probably lead for Garnett, and nobody knows anything about Diamond's leaders.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:11 PM ^
we at one point were the leader of Banner...another Washington OL. Garnett has a few visits to go (including OU, where I believe Banner is leaning). Anything can happen. I suspect that if he will let the coaches know that he 'likes us' as his recruitment moves forward. If he doesn't, taking a sure think isn't a bad idea...risk vs. reward in other words.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
We are in Garnett's top 2 so that's not a long shot. Also Diamond has been high Michigan for a long time, how that translates to him only going to ohio in the big 10 is beyond me. Not to say that couldn't happen but it's not the only option.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:44 PM ^
Well if you have followed Diamonds recruiting you would know that we fell down his list after he took visits to other schools. Also our large number of OL in this class hurts us with Diamond. His mother who plays a significant role in his recruitment is very concerned that there is too much competition coming in.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
Based on everything I've read, and I read A LOT, that's not even a little bit true. Garnett loved his visit and wants to be a doctor, which UM can position him nicely for. And Diamond is just taking it slowly. He's visited UM many times and loved the OSU game. In each case they have a fighting chance.

You just did my worst pet peeve ! Why say an Goodman or a Garnett ? say Goodman or Garnett. The only time it makes sense to say a before a player is if your not refering to that player directly, just a comprable player. k thanks

You just did my worst pet peeve ! The only time it makes sense to say an before a noun is if the noun starts with a vowel sound, but "an Goodman" doesn't work. k thanks

I think as we get closer to signing day that Michigan might not be in a mood to play the waiting game on Olineman...we seem to be in on a lot of them and it seems like it might come down to first come first serve.
that's just my two cents though.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
With your two cents. Whichever O-Lineman wants it first gets it. Michigan is in a great position with so many lineman that whoever commits first is going to be quality.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
Bolden and Pipkins are the 2 most likely guys to see as freshman starters in next years defense, imo. Especially because Bolden is enrolling early, I wouldn't be surprised to see him lock down WLB from day 1.
December 4th, 2011 at 4:59 PM ^
I wouldn't be surprised if Jarrod Wilson, who is also Early Enrolling, found himself on the field quickly too.
December 4th, 2011 at 6:03 PM ^
Who do you think he would take the spot from? I'm really excited to see Ross, RJS, Bolden, and Ringer come in, but I also really like the way Desmond Morgan and Jake Ryan have been playing, especially given that they are a true and RS freshman, respectively. Given that Demens will be a senior next year I expect him to start as well.
Do you think Ryan will end up at DE? He seems like he'll definitely be the right size with another offseason.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:08 PM ^
is a prod to Garnett and Diamond to get off the fence and/or an indication that the staff doesn't feel overly confident in them coming here to begin with.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
Goodman is a consensus 4-star, giving him a visit is probably the smart thing to do, considering neither Garnett nor Diamond are locks. I don't think it necessarily shows a lack of confidence with either, though.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
It could mean either of those things. Orrrrr...Goodman is a viable option and having three elite recruits considering us is better than two.
This is an elite, national-level kid whose recruitment has oppened up by force of circumstace. Not every offer is a cunning ruse or a backup plan.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
I don't think this coaching staff works that way. All they want is a quality recruit and they like everyone of the OL they offered. Like stated in posts before, it is a first come, first serve basis. They are keeping their options open because recruiting can shake out weird on the last few days.

Rumors are flying over on 247 that Darboh will commit soon. TomVH claimed to be source.

TomVH had indicated someone may or may not indicate over the next couple of days. Darboh is an extrapolation based on the denizens of the interwebs opinion of the most probable candidate. See the wierd Spanish thread.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
what TomVH indicated about that fact that someone may or may not indicate over the next couple days :)
December 4th, 2011 at 2:36 PM ^
Ahhhhh...you got me there.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
I think he meant fornicate.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
I hope he does, I think 1 more commit will make the class cramped enough that it will start another domino effect of commits
December 4th, 2011 at 4:40 PM ^
It seems like Darboh is about to commit in the next couple of hours. Waiting on a Hello post.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
Does anybody know who visited this weekend? If there is "News" I would guess it would come from a visitor committing in person...
December 4th, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
Logical. But I'm not sure someone like Darboh or Chesson, who've been to Ann Arbor multiple times, would trek all the way back just to commit in person.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
How do Jordan Payton and Amara Daroh compare?
December 4th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
They're pretty comprable. Similar body types, similar play styles. People say Darboh is somewhat faster, but it's hard to say, as he was injured most of the season and saw limited playing time.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:13 PM ^
Not improving much since he was a sophomore are concerning.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
Darboh is a good WR, very fast so not necessarily a possession guy, but not an elite playmaker either. Both are 6-2, but Payton is more of the possession guy, good hands and great leaping ability to high point long balls.
A scale for reference:
Manningham----------Darboh---------------Payton-----Hemmingway
Thats the way I see it anyway, I'm certainly no expert though.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:15 PM ^
similar reports...I prefer Darboh over Payton.

What ever happened with him?
