A few minor recruiting notes

247 sports is reporting that Evan Goodman is going to take his final official visit to Michigan. The article is paywalled, but the info is in the title. He is a consensous 4 star OT commited to Arizona State. There does seem to be mutual interest so there is a chance we can land him with a good visit. http://michigan.247sports.com/Article ... 2013 Ohio Saftey Jalyn Powell said Michigan was in his top two. He does not have a Michigan offer, but if the coaches want him then Michigan is in good shape. http://michigan.247sports.com/Board/59424/Powell-favors-two-5984230 ... According to his father's twitter, Michigan recently offered Leon McQuay Jr. He is a cornerback and 247 sports rates him as the #44 player in the country. http://247sports.com/Player/Leon-McQuay-III-7403 ... Espn has a free article about Joe Bolden, it's a good read. He definitely sounds like a future leader of the defense. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/football/story/_/id/730811… ... And if you want more fluff on Michigan commits, scout has a free article about Ondre Pipkins and his acceptance to play in the Army All American game. http://michigan.scout.com/2/1135338.html

we at one point were the leader of Banner...another Washington OL. Garnett has a few visits to go (including OU, where I believe Banner is leaning). Anything can happen. I suspect that if he will let the coaches know that he 'likes us' as his recruitment moves forward. If he doesn't, taking a sure think isn't a bad idea...risk vs. reward in other words.

Well if you have followed Diamonds recruiting you would know that we fell down his list after he took visits to other schools.  Also our large number of OL in this class hurts us with Diamond.  His mother who plays a significant role in his recruitment is very concerned that there is too much competition coming in.

Based on everything I've read, and I read A LOT, that's not even a little bit true. Garnett loved his visit and wants to be a doctor, which UM can position  him nicely for. And Diamond is just taking it slowly. He's visited UM many times and loved the OSU game. In each case they have a fighting chance.

I think as we get closer to signing day that Michigan might not be in a mood to play the waiting game on Olineman...we seem to be in on a lot of them and it seems like it might come down to first come first serve.

that's just my two cents though.

Bolden and Pipkins are the 2 most likely guys to see as freshman starters in next years defense, imo. Especially because Bolden is enrolling early, I wouldn't be surprised to see him lock down WLB from day 1.

Who do you think he would take the spot from? I'm really excited to see Ross, RJS, Bolden, and Ringer come in, but I also really like the way Desmond Morgan and Jake Ryan have been playing, especially given that they are a true and RS freshman, respectively. Given that Demens will be a senior next year I expect him to start as well.

Do you think Ryan will end up at DE? He seems like he'll definitely be the right size with another offseason.

is a prod to Garnett and Diamond to get off the fence and/or an indication that the staff doesn't feel overly confident in them coming here to begin with.

Darboh is a good WR, very fast so not necessarily a possession guy, but not an elite playmaker either. Both are 6-2, but Payton is more of the possession guy, good hands and great leaping ability to high point long balls.

A scale for reference:

Manningham----------Darboh---------------Payton-----Hemmingway

Thats the way I see it anyway, I'm certainly no expert though.
