I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
A few minor recruiting notes
I guess Ohioans don't appreciate an all-around performance.
Can Sione Houma realistically get a 4th star playing football in Utah? I played high school football in Utah and rarely was there a player that got national attention. The competition just doesn't compare to other states. Do recruiting sites take that into consideration?
The state of Utah had two 4-star recruits last year.
The main obstacle for Houma getting his fourth star is that he's a fullback and the recruiting sites aren't fond of fullbacks.
Yes they take that into consideration. I highly doubt Houma gets a fourth star - heck, he just got his third. Plus, camps are over and all he can do is prove himself against the local competition, which isn't very good. He's already put up pretty nasty stats against them and that didn't get him a 4th star, so we'll probably see Houma stay a 3 star.
Houma probably only got a third star because he's a Michigan commit. I'm not knocking Houma, but most players in states not known for high end football don't get much respect by the scouting sites.
He is a smallish fullback who isn't used as a lead blocker in the offensive scheme his team runs. I'm surprised he got his third star as a fullback no matter what state Houma plays in.
If anyone is intersted in Brionte Dunn. He had @40 carries for @270yds tonight for Canton Glen Oak vs Massillon Tigers. I've been watching him for 3+ years now. His performance on the field is as advertised, but I've always been bothered by his warmup routine. He doesn't stretch with the rest of the team. He's always off by himself with a trainer. Just seems as if he's above the team.
in Dunn. Why the cheapshot? There is no doubt that we are looking at siging a big time RB. Dunn is a longshot but at the top of the list.
I just wasn't sure if anyone was too concerned about him, since it appears he wants to stick with Ohio.
Thats ok if he does. I wasnt dunn status but i played both ways and got stretched by trainers on my own - never stretched it out with the team! back issues! GO BLUE
Yeah I didnt think it was a big deal, just a general observation. I played both both offense and defense also. Dunn only plays tailback. Its understandable given he is the entire offense, but it is unique to see a kid with such talent not on the field for crucial defensive stops.
Joe Bolden is in an online poll?
DEPLOY THE MGOBOTS!
Yes - if there was ever a good time to rig a poll, it would be for one of our recruits. Make this happen brains!
Tressel agrees with this.
From what I recall, he loved rigging lotteries in favor of his top recruits.
I was in Cincinnati Wednesday visiting my wife's family when I mentioned I really had wanted to stay in Michigan through the weekend so I could go to the game.. My wife's uncle "Ken" mentioned that 'Joey' had signed with Michigan. Apparently, they are good friends with the Bolden family..
After dinner, we had to go to their house and watch some of the tape from the Colerain game (that was on ESPN). Ken's grandson is, apparently, best friends with Joey's little brother and have played football together for about 5 years. Despite the fact they are in 6th grade, perhaps we will have a long pipeline at Colerain.
Finally, Ken, who has a Phd in Education and works with troubled kids daily, talked extensively about how Michigan is getting a quality person along with a great football player. That, in my mind, is the definition of a Michigan Man and I look forward to rooting for Joe Bolden for the next four years.
OBrien cut his list to 4
UT, UM, MSU, Bama - no order
Does anyone else think that we are going to see a surprise recruit commit in February? I think that if we hit 9 wins we'll see a late flip/switch for a 4*. I think it is vital to snag two WR so that Morris will hit campus with some experience at the receiving core. I still think we pull O'Brien. Whether it is a WR, DB, OL, or ATH...I think we land someone that isn't currently on our radar.
Anyone willing to list some possibilities?
