A few interesting recruiting notes

Submitted by RollDamnTide on

Some of these are not Michigan updates, but interesting none the less.

-Robert Nkemdice (#1 prospect in the nation) is playing one hell of a hand of poker right now. It's rare in the SEC, that you get a recruit that no one can get a great read on. But the surprising thing with Robert, is he has legit interest in Ole Miss, and it doesn't seem to be "recruit speak". At the end of the day, I think he stays in Georgia, but again, I can't get a read on the situation, and that's purely speculation.

-Ty Isaac will actually be staying in Ann Arbor all weekend this weekend. That is a very good sign for Ty. If you remember, I had been saying earlier this week, that a lot of the recruiting people on the SEC boards, said expect him to come off the board soon. Ty himself has said he's not nearing a decision, but wanting to stay in Ann Arbor the entire weekend, is a good sign for Michigan. Stay tuned.

-Robert Foster, WR out of PA, and his Father are a tad confused by Urban Meyer apparently. There have been mixed signals by the Buckeye staff to both Laquon Treadwell, and Robert, for who is #1 WR target of their targets.

-Ruben Foster (#2 over all LB out of GA) commit to Alabama, is the best linebacker recruit in a decade according to talent evaluators who have watched him play. His future is probably on the inside, and is getting compared to Patrick Willis. Georgia is going full court on him right now, but there doesn't seem to be any worry on Alabama's part concerning his verbal.

If you guys like this, I'll be happy to post more recruiting updates from around the country. I didn't provide many this time, because I wasn't sure if anyone was interested.

I always enjoy your posts.  They're informative, and you respresent Alabama well.  To add to that, I really respect the fact that you never "take the bait" when someone flames Alabama or the SEC in response to one of your posts...

I can only help but this of this quote from Anchorman:

"I've been waiting to say this to you for a long time. Deep down in my stomach with every inch of me, I pure, straight hate you! But, God damnit, do I respect you!"

FYI I dont hate you but I just cant help but think of it

We need to close and get one of these highly touted kids from the Inland Empire in Cali...we have not closed there in yrs and when we have it hasn't worked out to well. Between Mathis,Hawkins and Cravens we need one of these kids, so here on the West Coast (I live in Cali) the kids some kind of success.
With that being said I just LOVE our class so far and if we get Isaac, Gedeon, Poggi, Fuller along w the rest we w definitely be top 3 at the end of the yr!

I relialize this is OT for the thread, but I was curious:

Per B1G ESPN blogger Brian Bennet, Wisconsin may be the front-runner for former Maryland QB Danny O' Brien. My question is why is this guy gaining so much attention for his services? He was a 3* guy coming outta high school, and his performance last year as a starter was terrible (see his INT to TD ratio). By no means do I follow Maryland football or claim to know the intricacies  of their offesne.  Can anyone explain why this guy is so desired? After Wilson's departure, is Wisconsin just that desperate?

All I can tell you is that he was a freshman All-American in 2010, so I guess the hype is based off of that season and his potential.  His freshman stats were clearly better than his sophomore stats.  He still has two years of eligibility, so not all is lost with him.

So your input on anything about 'Bama Football, the SEC, recruiting, etc., is a welcome addition around here, RDT.  I've lurked here for the last couple years (spend most of my posting time on the DetroitLionsForum, U of M Board) but seldom post here, I'm always interested in seeing College Football info/opinions from another perspective.

Unless, of course, it comes from a "lil bro"

All I've really hard about Nkemdiche is that he heavily favors alabama, I know you didn't metion that, but what are the bama fans feelings on getting him?

Didn't see this posted, but Treiu said on the FB group that he expects Michigan to put the full court press on Isaac this weekend in hopes of a commit, Morris is coming on the visit as well. He said he wouldn't be surprised if it happened, especially since he's staying there all weekend now. If it doesn't happen, he said he expects one to come shortly after his visit to USC.

I love  any recruiting updates.    it is always interesting to  hear things from  the SEC.  We really need a 5* star recruit at rb to go with that oline.

A few days ago Treadwell asked Foster to follow him on twitter so he could DM him.

Clearly they are comparing notes.  This could turn out well.
