A few interesting recruiting notes

Submitted by RollDamnTide on

Some of these are not Michigan updates, but interesting none the less.

-Robert Nkemdice (#1 prospect in the nation) is playing one hell of a hand of poker right now. It's rare in the SEC, that you get a recruit that no one can get a great read on. But the surprising thing with Robert, is he has legit interest in Ole Miss, and it doesn't seem to be "recruit speak". At the end of the day, I think he stays in Georgia, but again, I can't get a read on the situation, and that's purely speculation.

-Ty Isaac will actually be staying in Ann Arbor all weekend this weekend. That is a very good sign for Ty. If you remember, I had been saying earlier this week, that a lot of the recruiting people on the SEC boards, said expect him to come off the board soon. Ty himself has said he's not nearing a decision, but wanting to stay in Ann Arbor the entire weekend, is a good sign for Michigan. Stay tuned.

-Robert Foster, WR out of PA, and his Father are a tad confused by Urban Meyer apparently. There have been mixed signals by the Buckeye staff to both Laquon Treadwell, and Robert, for who is #1 WR target of their targets.

-Ruben Foster (#2 over all LB out of GA) commit to Alabama, is the best linebacker recruit in a decade according to talent evaluators who have watched him play. His future is probably on the inside, and is getting compared to Patrick Willis. Georgia is going full court on him right now, but there doesn't seem to be any worry on Alabama's part concerning his verbal.

If you guys like this, I'll be happy to post more recruiting updates from around the country. I didn't provide many this time, because I wasn't sure if anyone was interested.

Also curious to know what exactly is going on there.  Is it sort of a "hearing from a lot, then not hearing from very often" thing, or conflicting statments?

I don't know your info sources, but it is good to hear what you provide. You have given some info on Ty that is very encouraging, and hearing some stuff about what Meyer is doing (with guys we are both recruiting, i.e., Foster & Treadwell) is also very helpful. Lastly, I enjoyed hearing a bit about the non Michigan recruits who are rated very highly. Briefly:  all good.

Count me in, obviously I follow Michigan way closer so some of these kids can get lost to me.  This helps to provide an interesting perspective for recruits/schools across the country.

Don't leave after we play. You seem like a nice person and you bring an interesting perspective to this board. Wonder what is going on with Foster, Treadwell and Meyer. Hopefully that turns them off and they go blue.

It would be nice to have a source on the Treadwell/Foster stuff.  They're different types of receivers, so it wouldn't shock me that they're both "#1".  Foster sounds like an OSU/Pitt battle for now, while Treadwell is obviously a Michigan lean.

And send one of our MGoBlog representative over to your favorite Alabama blog.  I volunteer either Aqua or the "kind-version" of Magnus.  It would be great to partner with other knowledgable football fans.

I just watched Ty Isaac's video for the first time, and we definitely need to lock him up. Seems like a perfect player for what the staff is trying to do.

Being a Bears fan, Isaac reminds me of the way Forte runs the ball. In his patience, speed burst, vision, and similarity in size.  All of which are very positive.  Would love to have him on board.

I heard that, too. How freaking awesome would it be to have a 6'3" blazer with great hands at RB? It could make for some awesome packages, where he starts out as the tail and then motions out wide for a deep route, emptying out the backfield. Who's going to cover him?

Do you have any more info on what "mixed signals" means with regard to the WR? There seems to be a lot of general disgust with how Urban is recruiting, but I haven't heard much in the way of specific awful behavior.

Should anyone be surprised that Ubran Meyer (liar) is telling each guy he is their no. 1 guy. I mean Urban Meyer (liar) did this stuff all the time in Florida. He (liar) is a scumbag and I hope the two recruits realize this. I don't care if those guys don't end up at Michigan, but I hope they have some morals unlike Urban Meyer (liar) and at least go some place other than Ohio State (liars).

I'm a huge hater of Urban Meyer, I think he was the appropriate hire by OSU because he is just as big a cheater as Tressel was. I don't understand the flamebait votes for my comment, I thought it was funny, but apparently on a Thursday morning the humour crowd is still asleep.

But I agree with you, if they are lying to them now, what is going to happen down the road?

Edit: Are there a bunch of OSU trolls  this morning? I say I hate Urban Meyer and I get hit with more negative points. WTF!

I have nothing good to say about the state of Alabama, or for that matter, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and large parts of Georgia and Florida.  I suppose, for the most part, they are a part of the United States.

That being said, yea, go ahead and keep posting.

thank you for the updates.  Great to hear about the Michigan recruits as well as whats's happening with some of the other top recruits.

First off, I believe that RDT is a great poster here, but...

I don't really care whether Georgia is really going hard for an Alabama commit.  General recruiting information is great (e.g., school X is really pulling in a nice class), but water cooler talk and other scuttlebutt about non-Michigan recruits is usually something that gets negged to high heaven around here.

I would guess that that the overwhelming "let's hear more" comments are 1) because of all the goodwill you've built up here; 2) that the non-UM info posted was about the nos. one and two recruits nationally; and 3) that once you start posting about random SEC-leaning dudes, all of that goodwill will start to dry up.

Tide has said he started coming 'round our parts due to his great interest in general recruiting and stayed because he likes the level of discourse.  For people who are also interested in general recruiting, his posts on the topic will be appreciated.  Others who have no interest in SEC/non-B1G recruiting, will just skip the thread without any feelings of ill will.

I think your diabeetus is out of control Wilford.  The sugar must be messing with your brain if you think the MGotightwads will pass up any opportunity to neg a thread and simply skip over it.  The feelings will be of the illest kind.
