Feels like the Western Michigan week...
With what has transpired this week - coming off of a loss, the report on paperwork not being filed, rumors from jobs like Wilbon and ESPN saying that RR will be gone after this year, etc. It feels like the Western Michigan game week in a certain sense. You kind of have a feeling that RR needs to get a win...or else. Now, obviously this week is largely different being OSU week and the last game of the season. But, I feel the same this week and the sense of urgency I have to assume RR feels is that week of the Western game.
Damn a win would be nice this weekend.

"Sometimes in the morning, I am terrified and can't breathe,
Awake, but cannot open my eyes..."
This is a good week to rediscover the MgoPumpup video from that week, as well.

Watching this video again made me happy and gave me a lot of hope for Saturday.

That song is simply perfect for the both last season and this season. I would say it's a little different this season, though, as our offense has been pretty solid other than the PSU game, which was absolutely horrid. The defense seems to be on one consistent low that they can't get out of. Maybe OSU will be their coming out party, maybe this is as good as they are.

You know who else made a video like this? A spartan fan of MSU under John L. Smith.

Now that's a depressing parallel.

but that song puts a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat.

thank you for courageously admitting that. you've inspired me to do the same. yay.

Better than that would be the transition from black and white to color and all the Michigan faithful can celebrate remembering that:
Sometimes when you’re on You’re really fucking on And your friends they sing along And they love you

that song is at least partially responsible for the problems this season. I always had a bad feeling about it.

know where I can find the hype video w/ Bo giving the speech about the team. I saw that earlier this year and was amazed.

I think the Bo's passing anniversary thread a day or so ago had it. Just saw it embedded somewhere here.

Yes, there are a few similarities with events, but this week doesn't even have the slightest tinge of "WMU week" feel to me. I actually like Western in a lot of ways. I flat out despise OSU.

had a roster of WMU's players ... sigh.

The only difference is before Western we were full of hope and optimism. But now its just kind of...sigh.

I don't know man. Sometimes it's about dreaming the dream. And whether that dream comes into reality or not, you still have the dream. I for one choose to dare and dream this Saturday. We've done it before, we can do it again. Hope springs eternal for this wolverine fan.
Go Blue!

There's about as much excitement for the game too, sadly.

Let's hope OSU plays like Western. That would make my YEAR!

I wish like hell I could agree. Believe me I do. I wish I could be feeling a sense of hope and excitement for the dawning of a new era as I was in early September.
Unfortunately, to me, this feels exactly like the same week in 2008. A tinge of hope... but mostly please-just-let-us-not-be-embarrassed dread.

Frankly I think a win Saturday redeems the woes of the past few weeks.
It puts us at .500, gets us to a bowl, and is a win over our arch rivsls, who we haven't beat in a while, all in one game.
In other words, it would be absolutely huge. No hyperbole would exagerate the magnitude of how huge it would be.
If we win Saturday, people will look back on it as the turning point of RR's tenure here. The implications for the program are huge. I don't think this is lost on the coaches or the players, and in light of that they'll be ready to play.
I'm not going to predict anything, but, damn yall, this is Michigan and if we think we don't have a chance than we've forgotten who we are.
It all comes down down to this - one last game, one last shot - All in. Literally. Win and play on or lose and stay home.
Damn, I'm getting hyped just thinking about it and ready to lace up the cleats. How much more so are those players who will proudly don the Maize and Blue this Saturday!
Call me deluional, but I have a good feeling about this.

For the love of God I just want to see Minor and Brown both play healthy at the same time for once in their careers, which will only happen if we go to a bowl. They deserve it damnit!
November 17th, 2009 at 7:24 PM ^
Fans at the game should do a rich rod chant again. Let our rivals we are behind our coach.

Going into western, we only had hunches about improvements that could be made this season. Now we know that the offense runs so much smoother but the defense is a disaster.
The fact that we want this week and game to be over with is one similarity with the opening of the season. However, back then we wanted to see this program moving forward from the doldrums of last season. Now we just want the season to be over with so that we don't have to deal with it.
That said, watching this video and recalling the hope that I had for this season was emotional. It captures my feelings going into next year as well.
Go Blue forever.
