I think Shane Morris might change it in the future though.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:07 AM ^
were the first two players I loved as a kid.
My Top 5
Steve Everitt
Tyrone Wheatley
Charles Woodson
Larry Foote
Tim Biakabutuka
Jarrett Irons

I like Steve Everitt not because I watched him play growing up, but because he just looks like a badass.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:13 AM ^
Probably myself otherwise everything else is irrelevent.
But as far as football players are concerned, I've been watching closely for 30 years and I honestly can't think of another player that has been as enjoyable to watch from his very first snap as Denard Robinson. I don't like to play favorites...but I really have been in love with Denard for the past three years. Should I tell him that I love him?...Or would that just be too weird right now?
January 5th, 2012 at 9:13 AM ^
Team 132....all of them....plus Desmond and Harbaugh.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:15 AM ^
Biakabutuka on offense. Brandon Graham for the defense.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:16 AM ^
Steve Everitt. Some of my best memories are Steve Everitt stories.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:16 AM ^
1. Harmon
2. Leach.
3. Woodson
4. Howard
5. Whoever the next Wolverine is that is able to completely take over a game.
(Denard has come close often)
January 5th, 2012 at 9:18 AM ^
Rick Leach with about 50 guys tied for second. Other guys (Wheatley, AC, Hart, Woodson, Desmond, Hutch, Jake Long and on and on. . .) were as talented and competitive but I don't remember anyone having the fire of Leach. He fit Bo perfectly!
January 5th, 2012 at 9:21 AM ^
Anthony Carter and Chuck.

Butch Woolfolk and Anthony Carter

AC, Anthony Carter is my alltime favorite
January 5th, 2012 at 9:30 AM ^
Tom Brady because he was under-appreciated and has had a great pro career and Rick Leach cause he showed that you can do the herb and be a good big ten qb.
January 5th, 2012 at 1:26 PM ^
But apparently it can be a problem on the diamond.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:30 AM ^
Charles Woodson for sure, Molk and RVB, Denard and as corny as this may sound, Nick Sheridan. I should probably elaborate on Sheridan, so people know that I'm not completely full of shit. I always felt that he was a kid, way in over his head, who just went out there each and every week and gave it his all. Sure he was terrible, but he played his heart out. We'll always have Minnesota.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:46 AM ^
I'll always like Steve Threet as well for his willingness to run the zone-read despite the fact that he tended to get killed when he kept the ball.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:46 AM ^
Abram.
Kidding.
Woodson, and I really loved me some Marquis Walker.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:36 AM ^
Desmond Howard was the first first athlete I remember following...I grew up in Cleveland and became obsessed with the winged helmet...My parents took me to see him play against NWestern and I was a fan for life
January 5th, 2012 at 9:37 AM ^
but its got to be Denard. He's like watching a child at play, its beautiful. I know how stupid that sounds but this:
Is exuberance and joy and no one does it like Denard.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:40 AM ^
1. Denard
2. Woodson
3. Desmond
January 5th, 2012 at 9:42 AM ^
or Mike Knuble.
January 5th, 2012 at 9:45 AM ^
I'll always love Leroy Hoard for his performance in the '89 Rose Bowl.

Hart used to be my favorite but I'm just about ready to switch my all time favorite to Denard, most likely by the time he graduates
January 5th, 2012 at 9:59 AM ^
Charles Woodson
Honorable Mentions: Desmond, Tyrone Wheatley, Braylon Edwards, Tim Biakabutuka
January 5th, 2012 at 10:02 AM ^
Oh crap...and Denard. How could I forget Nard Dog.
January 5th, 2012 at 10:03 AM ^
Woodson. He's everything, on and off the field, a Wolverine should be.
January 5th, 2012 at 10:12 AM ^
Too many to choose from,
Obviously Griese is my avatar, but....Honorable mention to
Woodson, Dhani, Mike Hart, and now Denard.
Kovacs gets a special place as most awesome walkon ever. Because now whenever anyone mentions "Rudy" I'm gonna slam a KO-VACS! into their face.
This whole team will be remembered with fondness, from HULK SMASH, to Jr's emtional sugarbowl MVP speech. This team has left a wonderful legacy for every team that follows them.
January 5th, 2012 at 10:16 AM ^
come to the conclusion that I can't name my favorite or top 5 as there are many more favorite players of all time I've forgot about. So I must add more favorites.... by position/side of the ball
QB- Elvis, Brian Griese, Shoelace
TE-Jerame Tuman, Bennie Joppru, Jay Riemersma, Aaron Shea, Koger not Kroger
WR-Amani Toomer, Braylon Edwards, Derrick Alexander, David Terrell
RB- A-Train, Mike Hart, Ricky Powers, Leroy Hoard, Chris Perry
OL- Steve Hutchinson, Jake Long, Jon Runyan, David Molk, Jon Jansen
DEF- Glenn Steele, Lamarr Woodley, Ty Law, Brandon Graham, Alan Branch(penn state smash alone makes him one of my favs), Kovacs, RVB, Martin
K-REMY!
So many great players.........

I love all the responses so far, the stars of the Michigan football program certainly deserve our respect and admiration. But I have an extra affinity in my heart for guys who laid it all out there and didn't get the love of the superstars - Eric Mayes, Ian Gold, and Victor Hopson come to mind. So do Garret Rivas, David Baas, and Chris Howard. For Team 132, I have serious love for RVB and Brandon Gibbons.
January 5th, 2012 at 10:26 AM ^
Growing up: Wheatley
As a student: Braylon and Marlin Jackson
As Alum: Mike Hart and Mike Martin
January 5th, 2012 at 10:27 AM ^
1, Tripp Welborne
2. Charles Woodson
3. Jamie Morris
4. Jumbo Elliot
5. Mike Gillete
January 5th, 2012 at 10:28 AM ^
Tyrone Wheatley, with Brendan Gibbons a close second. Go Blue!!
January 5th, 2012 at 10:31 AM ^
Could always get the short yard conversion behind Jake, everyone knew where it was going and it didn't matter...
And Woodson could and still (amazingly) can turn any drive/game around at any time... Plus "The Interception" is ingrained in my brain for life, just a freak of an athlete... as well as others, in End Zones etc.
January 5th, 2012 at 10:46 AM ^
Rob Lytle and Anthony Carter.
January 5th, 2012 at 10:47 AM ^
He was tough as nails, led by example and did what was necessary to win: Rob Lytle.

Go Blue!

Denard for everything he has and will do for the University of Michigan. He played through a staph infection.
That being said. Tom Harmon was a friggin badass. From his Wikipedia page...
In his final football game (against Ohio State), Harmon led the Wolverines to a 40-0 victory, scoring three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, four extra points, intercepting three passes, and punting three times for an average of 50 yards. In an unprecedented display of sportsmanship and appreciation, the Ohio State fans in Columbus gave Harmon a standing ovation at game's end. No Wolverine player had been so honored, before or since.

Harmon also wrote children's books.

Woodson. Others from the past 15-20 years who made the ticker go pitter-patter: Wheatley, Toomer, Biakabatuka, Harris, Hart, Manningham, Graham, Martin, & Denard.
