Favorite ways to watch the game

Submitted by Boom Goes the … on

Just curious how the MGoBloggers prefer to watch the games when you can't actually go to the stadium

Stay at home?

Go to a friend's house/ throw some sort of party

Go to a local bar?

As for me, I generally prefer to stay home, order a pizza and make a day of it.

My wife will usually watch the Michigan game, but can't sit for the 12 hour marathon

But if not there, then with other Michigan folks. At the moment that's the "local" alumni club.

I also enjoy watching with my dad. He was a football coach for about 20 years, but he doesn't do any obnoxious analysis or anything like that. He chooses to have fun and offer a bit of layman-type commentary.

I'm about a thousand miles from home, so I value the games with my dad a bit more now.

If not live, then at home on the couch, accompanied by my lap top and the live blog. I don't like watching with other people except my husband, whom I feel comfortable asking questions (why did he just do that? what was that penalty for? etc).

I never watch Michigan football at the bar.  I just can't do it.  Basketball, sure, but not football.  I need to be in a comfortable environment, and the alumni bars here in Chicago are always so packed that it doesn't work.

At the game. Stop at the A2 Denny's on the way there for breakfast. Usually very early.

If not at the game, on the HDTV. Just a cup of water to drink at halftime.

If it's a night game, the meal of choice is Chicken Shack. I got Five Guys once but that game went bad so they're officially banned from gameday food.

If it's not a night game and I'm not at the game, I usually just snack on some Cheez Its and then eat after the game.

I prefer to watch at a bar with a ton of people. It's just so exciting, and the payoff is huge when Michigan wins. When they lose, it feels bad, but at least the booze is flowing so we can all temporarily move on together.

I live in MD, so I have absolutely no problem sitting on the couch and watching the game by myself, maybe a few friends. Too many ignorant fans around here to go to a bar.

I like going to the bar to watch a game, but since I moved to Kansas I hardly do that. I usually watch games with a group of Michigan friends. Somehow we all ended up in Wichita.

BUT-since I live in So Cal, and have kids who go to school during fb season, I watch on my sofa. I enjoy going to a M Bar in San Diego, but I prefer 9 am (noon) games, when I can get up, flip on game day and see all the early stuff. Hang my flag, put on sweats and a hat, and have a cup of coffee. Love watching on the west coast, nice and early. If its a bad game, beer is poured by 10 am.

I definitely prefer to watch the games at home and make a day of it. Enjoy the whole slate of games but once that Michigan game kicks off that's the only thing I'm worried about.
