For the most part, I'm putting guys that I remember watching and cheering for. Most guys are from the last ten years because that's how long I've been obsessively following the team and all the players on it. There are some exceptions. Dierdorf for example. I somehow got a card of his when I was six. And saw Michigan as his college in the back. Des was probably the only player I knew when he played, since I was 8 at the time. As for picking Henne and Hart, I just like those guys better than others who played the positions, and you cannot really argue with their production.

Start with Woodson.  Plenty of talent and depth at QB, WR, RB, and OL.  Really all sorts of talent all over.  Woodson at CB is special. I would try to get the following players:

Anthony Thomas

Mario Manningham

LaMarr Woodley

David Molk

Marcus Ray

Rick Leach

though if someone has tabulated all stats produced by every Michigan player in their career at Michigan by season, the result for the "best team of all-time" will vary based on the league's scoring options. Furthermore, the order of when each player should be drafted would also vary based on the number of teams and differential scoring for each position.

Henne, throwing to Carter, Edwards and Manningham. Molk at center with Everett and Hutch as guards. Long, Lewan and Dierdorf can decide on the tackle spots. Wheatley and Lytle in the backfield.

QB Grbac RB Harmon FB Shea WR Carter WR Edwards TE Kramer LT Long LG Hutchinson C Everitt RG Baas RT Runyan SE Steele 3T Messner 1T Branch WE Woodley SB Dhani Jones MB Harris WB Foote CB Woodson CB Law FS Wellbourne SS Kovacs K Epstein P Mesko Lot of greats left out, particularly Leach at QB. Went pro-style. Henne never beat Ohio or won the B1G. Line could have gone any number of ways, but I got guys who played those actual positions. Man, we've had great centers. Hard to leave out Payne and Molk. Also, no Desmond Howard, unless we sub him in for Kramer, one of the greatest Ends we've had. That defense looks incredible though.

Pretty good list. I'd have to go with Erick Anderson at ILB and going further back, maybe Thom Darden at a safety. He had that unforgettable INT in the 71 Ohio game, causing Woody to shred the down markers. Messner is hands-down the best interior DL in Michigan history.

I like Anderson, and Irons, and a lot of our LB. Hurt not to have Gold on there. But I think this crew would actually perform better together as a unit. There's a lot of athleticism in these backers. The same principle went for the rest of my team. If I'm gonna have Woodson playing man, I'm gonna have Law across from him, rather than Jackson, who has more of a zone defender. And I think Jansen is the better player, but Runyan was a prototypical RT, huge, nasty, a ferocious run blocker. Safety gave me trouble, and my first reaction was Darden, but I honestly believe Kovacs was the best in the box safety we've ever seen. His backup would be Marlin Jackson, who was a decent safety but a great run supporting corner.

This is a pretty comprehensive list...but what good is it if we dont pick it apart!

How about Jarrett Irons at MB? Primarily based on what he did over a four year career, compared to Harris who had basically two years. Also have to go with Marlin Jackson over Law at the other CB spot.  Both had very similar careers in regards to numbers, but my memory feels like Jackson had more of an impact on the field while he was in the game.
