Fan Day question

Submitted by go16blue on

I have a plan to get something signed by both Denard and coach Hoke, but I need to know a few things first. This is my first fan day, so for anyone who has gone before, advice and answers would be appreciated.

  • When do the first people show up? I want to be towards the very front of the line, and I don't care too much about waiting.
  • How do they cut off the lines? Do they jump in to a line to stop it, or just stop letting people enter the line? I have a feeling its the second one, but I just want to be sure.
  • When do lines get cut off? Could I get through the QB line (I know there are two, but if I get in early enough I can see which one has Denard and adjust accordingly, I think) and then the Hoke line? The plan right now is to have my dad come with me and go into the Hoke line, where I will drop off the helmet to be signed once I get it signed by Denard.

Thanks in advance for your answers

But since the two events seem to be somewhat related, I have a quick question about the AD garage sale on Sunday.  Does anyone know what the prices are going to be like?  Is it going to be like a real garage sale where you can get stuff incredibly cheap, or is it going to be normal pricing like what you would find at M Den (ie; $25 for a t-shirt and $40 for a sweatshirt).  Thanks in advance. Go Blue!!

Having been to the last few Michigan garage sales (the last one was like 4 years ago), my experience is that the game worn football jerseys will go for around $35.00 to $40.00, game worn pants $2.00 to $5.00, and practice worn gear considerably cheaper. All nameplates will have been removed from the jerseys.  Some equipment and gear will be brand new; I got a pair of football cleats still in the box for $10.00; also running shoes, etc.  Other sports game worn jerseys are much cheaper than football.  Brand new t-shirts will run about $5.00 to $10.00 each, depending on the quality.  With the change from Nike to Adidas, expect to see a lot of very inexpensive Nike stuff.  It's a great experience, it's definitely worth going to!

You won't be getting through both lines. My advice is to pick the one you want the most and if you have a buddy who'd wait in the other line, have them get your other item signed. Entire families do that to get the stuff they want signed. And if you want the same item signed by multiple people pass it around from line to line

Get in Denard's line first.  Once you get to him, politely ask him to sign the item.  Then, ask if he can demostrate his dilithiumness and quickly zip over to Coach Hoke to get the same item signed for you.  Likely Denard will be back without anyone even realizing he left.  And you'll have both signatures on the item.

That was the plan, actually. I have a mini helmet that I want signed by both, so Im getting denard to sign it first, then passing it to my dad who will be in the hoke line (im assuming the hoke line will be a bit longer, so I have time to get over there).

I showed up around an hour before the event started last year and planned on getting the o-line to sign a football.  I didn't realize they had split the qbs up and Denard was with the o-line.  I'm not sure if people were jumping the line in front of me or not, but with less than an hour left for the event, the line was cut off right in front of me.  I ended up running over to the d-line and getting the ball signed.  Then I went down to the field and played with my nephews.

My recommendation if they are letting people onto the field this year is to hit a few short lines and then head to the field.  The field was the most memorable part for me.

They split up the QB's last year into two lines. Tate/Gardner were with the tight ends, and Denard was with the offensive line. They are doing the same thing this year, so you don't know if you are in the right line until it's too late.

If you really want either Hoke or Denard, right now the best bet would be to go to the Hoke line. It's a 50/50 chance you get Denard if you go in the QB line.
