family values at Kansas
So, the Worldwide Leader is reporting this about KU football:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4669621
Among the allegations:
Brown said another teammate had confided in the team that his father was an alcoholic and the player dreamed of becoming a lawyer.
"One day, [Mangino] said in front of the entire team, 'Are you going to be a lawyer or do you want to become an alcoholic like your Dad?' " Brown said.
OR....
"He'd say, 'This is Kansas, you're not back home,'" Crawford said. "He'd say, 'You're not back with your homies. If you're not careful you'll be watching the game in the stands with your homies. You'll be back in that neighborhood.'"
I don't recall that in Bo's Lasting Lessons!
Thought this might provide some perspective on our lack of family values.......
For the coaches on the board:
Where's the line here? Is Mangino over it?

Just like his mentor, Small Game Bob.

Do you really have to ask that? Making fun of another players alcoholic father? Really?
There may be a fine line when it comes to poking a guy in the chest and putting your hands on them in general as to whether that is ok or not, but attacks on their personal history and background are never alright.

That there is no Kansas message board suggesting that the players show support for their coach by carrying him off the field on Saturday.

He is the size of a whale. He will never be carried...anywhere...by anyone...save a forklift.

Mangino looks like he ate Ralph Friedgen.

Read a few articles on Mangino back when KU was having its Cinderella season and remember getting the impression that he was a pompous asshole despite the positive light. Well, better add "degrading bastard" to the list of qualifiers.

I think he's just hungry for success....really, really, really hungry...
