Maybe it is an extension of the old saying, where the most popular person on the football field is the backup quarterback. Perhaps some people will always look down the road to what could be with the next AD when they become dissatisfied with the current one, although like others, I would like to hear from people what Wards has done which makes them "not a fan".

The decision to hire or fire a coach.  That is the only one that an AD has almost total control over.  There are other decisions, but the AD is not in full control: e.g., ticket prices, scheduling, fund raising, new buildings, quality of food served etc.  When it comes to the most important decision that an AD can make, I have not seen even mild criticism of Warde's decisions to fire, hire or retain a specific coaches since his arrival on campus.

He will be remembered in the same class as Don Canham. I worked with him in the past; he has a great eye for coaching talent.  Just look at the three most recent hires and the fact that he was able to convince Bakick to turn down Stanford and stay here.
