Everything But Expansion Thread, Posbangs Included

Submitted by justingoblue on

With expansion taking up a full third of the sidebar, the front page, and the front page of MSM outlets, I thought it might be fun to open a thread dedicated to avoiding the topic. Some other things going on in the MGoUniverse:

  1. BEAT OHIO!
  2. OSU is favored by 4.5, Iowa is a 14.5 underdog at home as of now.
  3. What are you thinking about Michigan v. Pitt basketball in NYC.
  4. What are you thinking about Michigan v. Cornell hockey in NYC (and the BGSU game at Yost on Wednesday).
  5. Anyone going to Columbus for The Game?
  6. ND or SEC? Ugh.
  7. Anything off topic but interesting. Good lunch? I'm sure we'd all love to hear, same goes for important things like good movies lately (I saw Skyfall and Lincoln last night), awesome or terrible Thanksgiving plans, or anything else that sounds good.

Over the weekend, the  #16 Michigan Wrestling Wolverines took two duals from #10 Oregon State and unranked Stanford.  141 lb Camryn Jackson is starting to look like a true stud.  After redshirting and wrestling with 2x NCAA Champion Kellen Russell the past year, he's taken over the 141 weight class with a bang.  Including defeating the #2 ranked wrestler Mangrum from OSU this weekend.  Jackson is still undeated on the season.  The Wolverines have 4 freshman in the line-up, three being true freshman in Bruno, Massa, and Thomas.  Jackson marks the 4th.

These guys are going to be very good over the next several years and Michigan will be adding 4 very high ranked commits to next year, including #5 Ben Whitford, #11 Brian Murphy, #2 Adam Coon, and #20 Domenic Abounader.  Coon and Abounader turned down elite football scholarships for wrestling.  Loving it!  Go Blue!

What's up with these guys.  Dutton was injured during wrestle-offs with Jackson and transferred in as a national quallifier ranked #10.  But he has yet to see the mat.  Is he still hurt or did Jackson win the job?

Brandon Zeerip and Ben Apland, both starters last year, were not listed on wrestle-offs and both have already redshirted.  Are they not with the team any more?  Hurt?

Anyone know?  Thanks.

may be making Mr. Treadwell feel a bit more inclined to Go Blue.  Clearly, Devin has shown he knows how to throw the ball down the field and we all know Hoke and Borges would like to not have to play Shane as a freshman.

Noticed that both Auburn and Tennessee could likely end the year with no SEC conference wins.  Has to be helping us with Mr. Green.  Tennessee has already pulled the plug on Dooley so they can get first dibs on Gruden, I guess.  Why not go for the wild card with Tee Martin?  I'm sure Lane Kiffin has him ready to go.

Saw The Sessions at the newly renovated Maple Theater over the weekend.  Great movie...and appreciated the sub-2 hour running time.

Will be in Cleveland over T-Giving and planning on watching The Game at The Fox & Hound (has anyone been there for a Michigan game).

And then to Crisler "Center" on Tuesday night!

Yeah, I've watched a couple games there. It's about a 5 minute walk from my apartment. The M Alumni Club always reserves a big room in the back, so you won't be alone. I went there for the ND and Nebraska games and there was pretty good turnout for both.

Only downside was there was some guy in there with a cowbell. I mean, who uses a cowbell indoors? It was really annoying.

That North Korea is going to overrun us? When they weren't trying to cater to markets that aren't going to see the movie anyway, you could buy the Chinese doing it, just like the Russians. But I think CRex's stories are more scary than the probability this movie could happen are.

I'm doing my best to look productive right now. Really slow Monday. On the bright side, it's basically Wednesday right now - I love short work weeks!!

Surprisingly important early season week for hockey. I thought the boys would at least be able to tread water defensively without Jon Merrill, but last weekend was one of the worst defensive performances that I've seen in my time here. All three goals (minus the empty netter) Friday were off just awful turnovers or defensive plays. Red always seems to find a way to turn it around, but we have to get going at some point and maybe this Garden trip can do that for us.

donation to the city, the state, and the towing company, I am in a foul humor (humour if you are reading in Windsor). Please beat that team soundly and in a most convincing manner.

I have a good friend who is a Terp - early indications are that they are a lot like Sparty. Not a word about them, only references to Michigan's losses. I can't wait, because I am truly rotten at heart, and will never fail to inquire as to the football teams record.

I have not worn any shade of red and once turned down a job when red was the preferred color of the company.
