Evening Games Open Thread
I'm not going to lie, I started this thread merely because I want to talk about the hilarity of the fact that we're about to watch Rutgers play their first B1G game.
Biggest night for Rutgers football since they won their last National Championship... In 1869?

Purdue isn't on Michigan's schedule this year.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
when Purdue is making a game out of it? smh
September 13th, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
Mark Richt is awful at using timeouts. How do these teams now have people on the sidelines that know when and how to use timeouts efficiently? It drives me insane.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
Rutgers driving nicely on PSU then WR does dumb things and INT.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:42 PM ^
are impossible to watch.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:41 PM ^
Nova looks better than I assumed early and the Rutgers RB is a bad ass. Going to be a test for the defense and its .....on the road. Sigh.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:42 PM ^
Hackenberg might not make it thru 7 games this year. That OL is 2013 UM and he doesnt have Devin's ability to scramble.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:43 PM ^
Not sure if anyone had heard but Rutgers defensive plan is to rush the QB. Just wanted to make sure everyone had heard.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:45 PM ^
And PSU with an INT as RB not aware balls can be thrown to him. LOL
FIX THE REF MIC BIG 10 OFFICIALS!

Purdue has scored more points against Notre Dame than Michigan has this season.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:51 PM ^
PSU inside Rutgers 10
September 13th, 2014 at 8:53 PM ^
Rutgers blocks PSU FG. It sounds like Rutgers has Virginia Tech special teams, no one has blocked more kicked than Rutgers since 2009?
September 13th, 2014 at 8:54 PM ^
Just like everybody is stating, ND is just not that good...
September 13th, 2014 at 10:11 PM ^
Are we terrible as well?
September 13th, 2014 at 8:55 PM ^
If Purdue was any good at all they'd be winning this game. Their D is punishing the Fig Things.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:57 PM ^
LOL go Purdue I guess.

I was convincing myself that Hoke would lead Michigan to the promised land. It took just one game for Hoke to convince me I was full of shit.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:59 PM ^
Notre Dame! Unstoppable offense! Impenetrable defense! Even good teams lose 31-0 to them!
September 13th, 2014 at 9:00 PM ^
Purdue is beating Perdue.
And you all laughed when I said the B1G Championship Game would be Purdue vs Rutgers.
September 13th, 2014 at 9:01 PM ^
Nova has enough mobility to drive a defense nuts.
September 13th, 2014 at 9:01 PM ^
Holy Ralph Friedgen! That man has quite the coaching tree doesn't he?
September 13th, 2014 at 9:01 PM ^
Purdue 7 Notre Dame 10 almost halftime
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
September 13th, 2014 at 9:05 PM ^
Purdue 14-10
I think I'm going to go have a stroke. Partly because they actually are winning and partly because of our coaching staff.

Well I am glad Purdue is not on our schedule. I mean if they can ND, one can only imagine what they'd do against us.
September 13th, 2014 at 9:04 PM ^
Nova looks like a Tate Forcier who cares about his grades out there.
September 13th, 2014 at 9:12 PM ^
I laughed so loud, the dog got up and left the room.

FSU 52 ND 17 in a few weeks. Midwest football is the new Big East football.
I don't know how to make major inroads in the south but we need to basically abandon recruiting the midwest and start below the Mason Dixon line and take 75% of our classes from that area. It's not just bad coaching up here. This is basketball country now.
September 13th, 2014 at 9:11 PM ^
Ohio has consistently won 10 games with midwestern recruits. Wisconsin has been a consistent winner.
Talent is not the issue.
September 13th, 2014 at 9:19 PM ^
playing mostly midwest teams. How many of those games are outside the conference every year. Outside of 1 major non conf game a year they OSU mostly plays the Cincy's Akron's Ball States whomever.
They lost to an overhyped Clemson team last year in a bowl.
MSU likewise - they played Bama 3 years ago in a bowl when Bama lost 2-3 and got smoked. Last year they had a once in a decade defense so its an exception. I'd like to see how they would have done even with THAT defense vs a Texas A&M or Oregon in a bowl.
Not talking to exception, talking to the majority of the games.
ND went to play Bama in 2012 and it was no different than the UM game vs Bama that year. There is a talent gap. Its resounding. Even versus 10 years ago when OSU played in the NC game.... gosh look around, it's sad.
re: Wisconsin - they've lose their last 3 Rose Bowls. Tell me their great out of conference wins versus national elite (top 10 teams NOT in the Midwest)
September 13th, 2014 at 9:34 PM ^
I agree with you. After watching Georgia-South Carolina and now watching PSU-Rutgers... man, it feels like B1G football is light years behind the SEC. I miss the 90's and those great Big Ten matchups on ABC.
September 13th, 2014 at 10:58 PM ^
start working on bounce passes, full court press...maybe have a middle linebacker bend down and slap the field every once in a while to get the crowd going.
How do you think an SEC team would respond if they saw a B1G team doing the weave in pregame before the bowl game???
September 13th, 2014 at 9:07 PM ^
Well, Gary Nova did rather untraditional Gray Nova things to make that rushing TD, and indeed, a quick check of the stats confirms it is only the second time he has run into the end zone himself. Of course, it is a good thing the TD signal is obvious or the mic problems would have perhaps accidentally rolled into a situation where this was reviewed for intentional grounding somehow.
