so much for that
FWIW it looked like Q was running with the 1s
Well, Big Will does weigh 70 pounds more than Wilkins. I'd expect this to happen.
If that doesn't get the blood pumping on a chilly March day, nothing will!
"Thanks Christopher I will get on it ASAP.... Happy Easter to you as well!! Go Bucks!! jt"
I like the small block M on the back of Devin Gardner's jersey, right above the name. It reminds me of our current basketball jerseys.
Mike Martin is getting some nice pressure vs. his man at the 4:40-5:20 mark.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
Me too, I really liked the back of that jersey as well.
Man, even Martin looked small compared to BWC and some of those OLs. But he's got the biggest freaking biceps ever.

and that little block M is one of my favorite things. Even better though, inside the jersey, right at the bottom it says "Go Blue M Those Who Stay Will Be Champions"

Yup, I thought that the trimming on the inside of the jersey was the coolest thing when I saw it. Can't wait to wear it again for the spring game, not too much longer now.
How 'bout I punchisize your face, for free.
I got mine at the M-Den after the Big Chill. Which is funny because I get called a WalMart Wolverine by idiot Spartan fans, yet all my Michigan stuff is from the M-Den. My jersey, my 2010 team shirt, a Big House banner, my Big Chill hockey puck. Heck, my Denard t-shirt is from this website.

The point of that joke is to demean Michigan fans who didn't attend Michigan. It really doesn't have much to do with Walmart. If for some idiotic reason we were the Koala's, they would have come up with the term K-Mart Koala's I'm sure.
Go Blue!
I saw a survey once where the amount of people in-state who attended neither university was about the same for MSU and M. It was basically tied to how close one lived to each East Lansing and Ann Arbor. So it is a little absurd to assert that only Michigan has fans that didn't attend the University. I guess I could just call those people "Save-A-Lot Sparties" right?

Ha well I also got a Denard jersey, went with the white away jersey though. Love the clean look of those whites, and you have to go with the authentic jersey. The others just pale in comparison, especially being my first jersey. You know it will last you forever so just fork up the extra cash.

I didn't have the sound on, but I sincerely hope those early run plays weren't at full tackling and were just drill-ish type run-throughs. Otherwise, there were a few missed tackles...
Yeah...we are so screwed if the defense hasn't gotten completely better by the 2nd week of spring practice.
"There are indeed gloomy and hypochondriac minds, inhabitants of diseased bodies, disgusted with the present and despairing of the future; always counting that the worst will happen, because it may happen." -Thomas Jefferson
This was addressed in another thread. I believe the point of this drill is for the RB to practice shedding blocks and setting up long runs, and to that end, the defense is instructed to not tackle the RB but only to flow to the ball and make contact with the RB.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
And I could be wrong, but I thought I heard a "Let him go" in there somewhere too. So, I don't think they were just missing all those tackles.
Doesn't mean I won't be concerned about our D until proven otherwise.
Go Blue or go home
He did get huge. Big Will has go to throw some people around this year...
Has the whole world gone CRAZY!?!
Still works fine for me...........

Kovacs, I. Bell, M. Jones, Q. Washington. With MM, RVB, Roh, Avery, Cam G.
Stop it again at 1:11: 2nd team looks like Heininger, BWC, Ash, Black, Hawthorne, Furman, CC, and Paskorz (!) / Ryan
The other safety is Carvin Johnson FWIW.
I'd also caution against reading too much into anything from one day of practice. In other videos Campbell is running with the ones, as are Mike Jones and Brandin Hawthorne. It's early yet, and I'm pretty sure that the coaches are giving multiple guys a chance to run with the "locked in" starters at open spots.

Very interesting to see Bell out there with the 1's, after all the negative things that have been said about his attitude. Maybe the new coaching staff has woken him up.
I've been called the songbird of my generation, by those who have heard me. THAT GOOD
It's good to see Mike Cox getting some touches
You ain't havin it? Good, me either. Let's get together and make the whole world believers.
Greg Mattison commented on the defense in an article posted in the Freep about an hour ago. Here are the highlights so you don't have to go over there to read it:
Among the topics he touched on in a media briefing today:
• A number of players stand out to him, including Mike Martin, Craig Roh, Jibreel Black, Will Campbell and Thomas Gordon. He cited Cam Gordon, who has moved from safety to strongside linebacker, as a player who could be very good. Though linebacker Kenny Demens has missed time with a shoulder injury, he has picked things up quickly in the drills he has done.
• Mattison pointed out that the linebackers will be critical components of his defense because they have to play the run and the pass. Under previous coordinators, many of them focused on blitzing.
• Head coach Brady Hoke is involved in the defensive meetings -- he also coaches the strongside linebackers. He offers suggestions, just like everyone else, Mattison said.
• Mattison no longer can talk trash with quarterback Denard Robinson, because Robinson has been so good in practice. He has outrun the defense a number of times, even when players took the proper angles to tackle. "I didn't realize how fast he was," Mattison said.
• He is a big proponent of the Big Ten title game, saying it'll be bigger for the players than any non-championship bowl game.
Duh Gerg focused on blitzing in practice and didn't do it in games.
For today, goodbye. For tomorrow, good luck. And forever, Go Blue.
That's how I interpreted it as well. Perhaps that's another reason for the abysmal defense, we were practicing something different than what we were running in games. Maybe?
Oh I was just kidding. I guess it's possible, but it's highly unlikely Gerg was THAT clueless.
For today, goodbye. For tomorrow, good luck. And forever, Go Blue.
In 2009 we did blitz a fair amount. Unfortunately, we did so at very predictable times and it rarely succeeded. PSU and OSU killed us when we sent too many guys.
Mattison might also be talking about the weird way we had our MLB line up under GERG, where he was practically headed downhill at the snap.
He might be referring to the earliest build of our defense under Gerg in 2009 when blitzing was an option (because of Warren and Woolfolk), and our linebackers came non-stop. It was pretty much a gurantee back then that 7 blitzers were coming on third down (See: Iowa's first TD, Penn State calling the screen in anticipation of the blitz for a TD, every other game......).
EDIT: Or just read the post right above mine. Either way.
Go Blue!
I am this close to going all Dark Blue in here.
