The ESPN coverage maps have been released. Here is the link to show them.
ESPN/ABC coverage maps available
So this means in Michigan the game will be on ABC? I like how that third map is structured differently than the first two.
That is how I'm reading the map. The yellow area gets M on ABC. Whether or not the rest of the country gets the M game on WatchESPN, I don't know.
is different because there is no mirror on ESPN2, no game on ESPN2 at all at that time. Which is the problem for anyone roughly West of the Mississippi.
I guess to some degree I can't blame them for not making MICH against UConn, which is a pretty weak game, the national game.
HOWEVA, given how bad both UT and KSU are, Michigan is clearly the most watchable team.
So boo this coverage map...
West-coasters can hop a flight to Alaska or Hawaii to catch the game. Nice.
so is there NO coverage on the west coast?
Suh-Weeeeet. Iowa is a cluster but I'm in the clear.
and although the coverage map shows the Michigan game, I checked with the local affiliate and they are airing the KSU/Texas matchup.
What is difficult for me to understand is the physical location of the TV station is in Illinois, so technically this shouldn't even be an issue... But it is.
Weird. I hope for your sake that's still just an error and that once Saturday comes around it'll be Michigan. If you're in the quad-cities I really hope that's the case as I may be over there myself so I'm assuming Michigan will be on.
I just received a reply phone call from the Programming Director at WQAD-8 (ABC affiliate in the Quad Cities).
She is looking into the issue, and said it would be resolved today, tomorrow at the latest. More to follow!
Yeah let me know what the WQAD peeps say. Again, I assume the Michigan-UConn game is what's to be broadcasted but I'll still check back and see if you have any update especially if it goes against us.
...probably think Michigan-UConn is a basketball game.
Anyone know if they're going to have a secondary channel showing the M game or am I going to have to resort to watching it on the web
There is apparently no reverse mirror for the game. Thank the AAC for waiting until the last minute to pick the timeslot.
Living in ann arbor I rarely have to care about this type of tv coverage map stuff, but Ill be in DC for a wedding this weekend. I loaded up watchESPN onto my 3G ipad, but im still not convinced I'll get the game one I arrive in DC. Anyone know ?
I have comcast thru ann arbor and 5 mins ago I rechecked the watchESPN app and at 8pm saturday the michigan game isnt an option(maybe because its on ABC for me??). Will my ipad update once I get to DC ?
This is all super new to me... Any pointers are appreciated. My wife doesnt realize this yet but an ipad is coming to the wedding and I have all intentions of watching the whole game. Hellllp??
I would skip. If they scheduled heir wedding during college football season they have no right to be pissed if you skip.
If it was a home game I would have more grounds to skip, but who would have thought it'd be a night game!
Thanks for the idea to try watchABC - I downloaded that already, but didnt think of the idea to proxy. It's worth a shot!
Anyway, I'll have my 3G ipad so worst case I'm checking back on mgoblog for streaming sites! Thanks guys.
You can watch it from anywhere ... though you better have a great data plan. or better yet WIFI.
LoL too late for this one! Being from A2 i this is a one time problem for me otherwise Id consider it for sure.
My work pays for unlimited 3G on my ipad.... Just need a link and im golden. My goal is to get familiar with every option people are telling me on here and just keep toggling through the options. HOPEFULLY one will work. My risk management is to hit the board up and hopefully someone who is smarter than me has posted a live stream compatible with ipad. Double risk management is to leave the wedding and find a tv. The last one will likely be what happens.
Not feeling great about my ipad options, but love the support on options from everyone!! Keep em comin!
Pick a city where you can access watchabc.go.com/live and try a proxy (http://www.proxynova.com/proxy-server-list/country-us/).
Thank you, I will give this a try!
and make your way to Buffalo Billiards at 1330 19th St., NW. Great place to take in a Michigan game ..........packed with Michigan fans on gameday.
Just for future reference it appears the Alumni Association is changing venues to RFD near the Verizon Center. I got an email last week about that. I'm sure people will still be at BB but looks like they are trying to phase over to the new place. No idea why but the new place is pretty cool and a much better beer selection and they still have a ton of TVs.
It might have something to do with Buffalo Billiards being a terrible, terrible bar.
I'm all for the transition to RFD.
You may not be able to get it on WatchESPN since the game will be on ABC out here. I have to watch a random Saturday night game before after getting home on a Saturday night and the WatchESPN has not streamed the ABC game. Just be prepared for that. You may have to use the Gamecast which is pretty decent.
Game cast is obv better than nothing, but they are still horrible.
I'm here in California. I won't be able to see the game. Shit.
I'm out of luck here in Omaha
It doesn't look like it will even be on ESPN 3. Wtf.
according to the michigan schedule page on espn, it lists an ESPN3 broadcast:
however, when you go to espn3, it doesn't list the michigan game as "upcoming" unless you go to this direct link - http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/gameId/332640041/league/NCAAF
still not sure if either of these are confirmation for espn webcast.
Sincerely, The West Coast
And yours truly,
the Rocky Mountain West
Can't watch in TX, either.
For anyone worried about missing the game due to being outside the coverage area, just use http://firstrowus1.eu.
Fuck this shit. What happened to the guaranteed reverse mirror thing? Can't they just put it on BTN?
game is at uconn so it does not fall within the big tens contract with espn - the aac contact does not have reverse mirrors
Yeah I get that, I'm just bitching. This is what we get for playing at a shit school.
Luckily, I'm in a region that gets the game but it's hard to believe CA gives two squats about the Texas - KSU matchup.
Howevah, the board should remember why we're playing UConn (most recall): we needed a respectable but oh-so-beatable opponent to face to rededicate the Big House. A Randy Edsall-coached UConn was just that school, but insisted on a home-and-home. This game is the payback, and UConn did not look nearly so bad a few years back when Edsall was looking like a Pat Fitzgerald-ascendant coach who would put UConn at a new level of respectability. (I'm confident WolvinLA2 knows all this, - his posts indicate a great perspective on and understanding of Michigan football. I'm just replying in case some folks on the board wonder "why the hell did we schedule an away game at UConn"?)
WolvinLA2 - I hope you're able to stream the game some way, some how.
I do understand all of that, but I honestly never expected the game to be left off half the country. I knew it would be early in the season before most conferences got into their meat, and I assumed they'd either pick a noon start or put it on ESPNU or something.
It's still hard to believe that we couldn't convince UConn, or a UConn-level school, to do a one-off game at the Big House. Even though Edsall's teams showed promise, they weren't a prestigious opponent or anything. Plus, their home stadium only holds 40K, so I don't see how UConn would be able to make more money by hosting a game than just by taking a check from us.
BiG10 states Nebraska & Iowa get barely half coverage, but for some reason ALL of North Dakota will get the game?
I'd imagine they put minimal thought into North Dakota's coverage desires. The Iowa situation is odd, but Nebraska is kind of venturing into weird Big Ten/Big Twelve country so it makes some sense.
While there are a lot of B12 fans here (I'm in Omaha), most people I've talked to would rather see the Michigan game - including me obviously. Looks like streaming online it is for me!
Apparently Iowa State wears the pants in the family.
Crap! Can you watch ESPN3 games after the fact, or only live?
I'm going to be in cabin in the middle of nowhere. Psyched about that, but I always counted on getting to put it on my DVR and watch when I got back. I hate UConn and their bullshit.
I would imagine espn will reair it sometime during the week.
True. And BTN will probably as well. I figured I could avoid all scores until I got back on Sunday evening and watch it then. Also seems like ESPN3 does do at-will replays.
Not sure if it is the case all the time, but typically the broadcast of Big Ten games on other networks will be available on BTN2Go as of midnight Sunday. Basically, you'll be able to watch the game likely within an hour of its actual conclusion. Replays on BTN are available for about two weeks.
Here in the Detroit area, the listing is updated - ABC gets the Michigan game, ESPN will have LSU / Auburn and ESPN2 gets Colorado St. vs. Alabama. ESPNU will have Southern Methodist vs. Texas A&M.
Usually you can watch ESPN3 games for at least a few days after the fact. Just go to the "replay" tab. However, ESPN3 seems to change their rules weekly, so don't quote me on this.
Channel 793 on ESPN Gameplan
is getting all the shitty UT games. Well this sucks, I guess I can always tune into ESPNU and watch another Alabama replay.
There's always XBMC and the Live Streams section of the MashUp addon. They have a whole section dedicated to live broadcast television. I'm sure there's a New York ABC affiliate on the list. It's easy to navigate XBMC and the Live Streams section on MashUp keeps getting better and better.
This is very sucky.
My guide shows it on 793. Check again closer to game time
Doesn't dish network usually show the game on an ESPN alternate?
This is all part of our effort to build THE BRAND
Here is ESPN's GamePlan blackout map
If so then I guess it's fine...
I don't know quite how to do it, but I'm guessing that the coverage for Michigan - UConn has 3 - 5 times the population in the rest of the map. Here's a map that shows the population distribution. But it doesn't have the real numbers detailing the distribution, especially overlaid on the Michigan coverage map.
Clearly far more than 50% of the country is getting the game - still sucks for those who aren't
If nothing happening on ESPN 2, then mirror the Michigan game! May be we should wrestle NBC away from ND and make it the Michigan Football Network!
I live in KS, so I am screwed!
Big Ten footprint allows residents in Lincoln, NB and most of Iowa to watch Kansas State/Texas.
how Delaney and the AD's feel about that great expansion now?
Apparently ABC is thinking that Nebraskan's hatred of Texas >> Nebraskan's interest in B1G and therefore airing Texas will drive ratings in the Nebraska market. They are probably right.
If I get the blessing from my GF, I'm thinking about having a viewing party at my house, I get ABC NYC, cause I'm cool like that. I will post a thread on the board tomorrow if she gives me the thumbs up, I live near La Jolla, kitty corner off the 52 freeway.
That's a good location. I live in PB. I got an Apple TV and it appears the game will be on Watch ESPN so I'll catch it at home, but you're a champ for offering up your house.
I lived in PB for 20 years, fun times,,,I live 5 minutes from PB
I may need to crash your house Scott!
While this channel is listed on my guide, I can't watch it. I live in AZ. How are you able to get it?
grandfathered in from the late 90's, I decided to keep the national affiliates and my wisdom is paying off. I pay a fee monthly for these channels, ABC & NBC in NYC & L.A., $3.50/month for each.
Stuck in the middle of nowhere and I'd love a major market feed.
Hey maddogcody I live in Tucson . I called directv and was told I can get the game on espn gameplan for $25. Gives you access to espn gameplan for one whole day! Hope this helps
I know it's usually a crap connection, not HD or anything, but better than missing a game completely. www.feed2all.eu shows pretty much every sporting event. Granted, it's a little ways behind even the TV stream (I'll usually get my Scorecenter push about a second before it happens on the site) but it's something. I'm in Utah, so no UM for me this weekend without some internetting.
Oh well, ABC is stupid, but though the quality won't be as great glad I'll get to watch through WatchESPN. If you have a decent interweb connection the quality isn't bad; not quite as perfect as a cable feed, but way better than anything on firstrow or any of those "unofficial" streams (or for that matter, way better than a non HD signal).
And if your internet/cable provider doesn't offer watchespn, ask a friend or family member to borrow their login info.
When I go to WatchESPN it's not listed as a game. Why are we confident it'll be in there?
Will get the game in Orlando. Sorry to all of those who won't be able to get the game.
thanks, I noticed my cable guide went blank and tex Ksu was gone last night.
If we pound the snot out of UConn, the prevailing wisdom will be that "Eh, it's UConn, they suck so this game means nothing." If we play poorly or God forbid, lose, you don't want to watch it anyhow.
Rationalization of somebody in the coverage map/
I live outside the map... Do I get it on ESPN 2?
People who kill five hookers while at SMU should only be allowed to watch SMU get pounded by Texas A&M on ESPN-U.
should be able to buy ESPN Gameplan on a weekly basis for $9.99....actually it might up to $14.99, I cant recall......I get Gameplan for the season to get acess to games outside my region, especially when they split the country up at primetime. If you're a college football fan, it's worth the investment......if you just like to watch Michigan, just buy it for this week. It's a hassle, but when you dont live near your team, getting regionalized out of coverage happens and this is one remedy
Is the weekly pass listed as available anywhere? DirecTV only has it listed as a season pass for the low, low price of $140.97. While that might be worthwhile for people who frequently want to watch games that are only available on Gameplan, I haven't been interested in any of the games on there in literally years. $140 is quite a lot for just the Michigan game.
It was worth it 15 years ago when it actually had good games on it. These days the typical games it covers are things like Bowling Green vs Kent State, Montana State vs Stephen F. Austin St., Lafayette vs Penn, etc.
If you are a B1G fan, there is NO reason to own Gameplan anymore, as the B1G is NEVER on it. Except in this bizarre situation where we schedule a crap school that decides to move the game to prime time for no good reason.
...the options are either $25 for the day or $40 for the game. Which is totally backwards, but still.....the jump from $10 to $25 prob moves it above the "worth it" threshold vs. going to a bar.
It was only $99 per year and you always got the Michigan game out of market. But now the BTN dominates and my stupid cable company will not carry the BTN!
While I have the Ultimate package, it does not include ABC East (I live in Phoenix and due to law I cannot view that channel since I have a local ABC channel). Therefore, I added the Sports Pack Premium Channels... that way I not only get to watch Michigan defeat Conneticut, I also get to watch the rebroadcast of Red Wings games on Fox Sports Detroit. WOO, my favoirte time of year! I love having DirecTV.
What channel on the "Sports Pack" will the Mich/UConn game be on?
I believe it's 396...ABC east.
I am a DirecTV customer with all channels (/porn) and we're stuck with KSU vs. Texas.
The Sports Pack is mostly the 600 digit channels like Fox Sports. The channel I see the game playing on that prompted me to purchase the Sport Pack right away is 639 (SNYHD) SportsNet New York HD:
My only worry is that I'll have to purchase the one day GamePlan showing of the Michigan game for $35 anyway. I know that Pro sports are usually blacked out on these Sports Pack channels, though "some" college games are available regardless. I'll see how it shakes out on Saturday.
I was going to purchase the Sports Pack anyway since the Red Wings season has started. I always record the replays of the games (again, live games are blacked out) and only watch them if the Wings won.
I believe it's 396...ABC east.
That I might bite the bullet and pay $142 for essentially one game. I haven't missed one in a really long time.
if they still allow this or not, but I have purchased single games on ESPN Gameplan in the past. They used to let you pick games a la carte.
I don't know what provider you have but I have Directv and just added channel 396 (abc east) for $11/month.
I have dish network which offers Game Plan so I am hoping they allow me to purchase it just this week. I know I have lost all prespective here but not seeing it would ruin my entire weekend.
finding an online stream on ATDHE is always an option, obviously it's not as good as on TV, but it beats getting the score updates from the ticker...
I just called Directv and while I wasn't able to get a "free preview", I was able to add that channel and the package its in for $11/month. Beats $140/month or whatever. Be careful not to cancel it before 30 days or its a $10 fee. I hope this helps!
there won't be some blackout restriction forcing you to watch the local feed?
I live in mt and that i cant get channel 396 because i have local channels or someshit .i said screw my local channels but it is still is not available to me here..per direct tv..is it in any sports packges..i im fuckn pissed
I just spent over 30 mins on the phone with DirecTV and nobody I talked to can figure out how to get at 396 from any regional sports package or any other way unless I lived on the east coast AND did NOT have access to my own local channels.
GamePlan day package is available...for $25. Not worth it.
So they will let you buy the day for 25 bucks or what? Do you just gotta contact costumer service..because if i access my account online they either want 3 payments or full amount..
Just call them at 1-800-DIRECTV.
If I'm going to pay $25, I'd rather do it at the bar and get some beer and food for it!
tell you I hope dish allows this as well I would gladly pay $25.
Thats what they told me..im in missoula and they said its a money deal and fcc and stuffso no 396 channel..may pay 25 though on game plan..better the a babysitter and bar while wife is at work..hope i can get the game plan for one day
as someone without cable and in the "right" part of the country: yes!
Game is officially listed on the upcoming schedule.
Just talked to Dish network they gave me the one week ESPN Game Plan for $26. I am thrilled I live deep in Husker territory so a bar is not an option and this will work out perfectly.
At buffalo wild wings (don't really like it) but they have the BTN and gameplan. So that will be my plan for Saturday night, even if they just give me one TV!
Just got off the phone with directv and anyone can do a pay per day for $25 for espn game plan.
If Nebraska is In the B1G, why are they getting coverage of the Big 12 game?
That is not stated on that page, the page only states to access ESPN3 on WatchESPN:
I did not realize high speed cox internet users got ESPN3 for free! I have their basic cable package as well, so it worked for me when I logged in with my COX account. All I'll do is plug in my HD S cable and I will be set.
I agree from the verb-age, you should be getting ESPN3 for free for being a valued COX High Speed internet customer!
