ESPN on the Talbotts (they heart Terrence)
I did not see this already posted. ESPN has graded Terrence Talbott a 78 (and #30 CB). FWIW, 78 is the same grade given to Mylan Hicks and Lo Wood.

That rating actually puts him in the upper half of our class according to ESPN. The common perception is he was a tag-along addition to his better brother, who was offered first, so I find it interesting that ESPN is higher on the smaller Talbott (Terry gets a lowly 75 from them).

Looks like size is the biggest knock on Terrence. I'm pretty sure Barwis can fix that. Highlights the fact that he'd be a great special teams player, which I think several posters noted a few days ago.

ESPN has him listed as 5'9" 160 lbs. I thought he was more like 5'11" 175 lbs. Looking at the film I think he's bigger than the ESPN height and weight.

credence to anything ESPN says. Still, it is nice that they are giving a UM committ a little love as they don't have much good to say about UM these days.....

I know they're from Ohio, but I was wondering if anybody knows how good the league they play in is.
As for ESPN, I find it interesting that Terrence is rated the same as Lo Wood. I wonder though if this is a case of the unseen ESPN .5s coming in. ESPN is known to rate a kid XY.Z where Z=0 or 5. I wonder if Terrence and Lo Wood have different values of Z (I almost said different Z-scores just for the stat joke but decided against it... oh wait, I guess I just found a way to have my cake and eat it too).

I don't know much about the conference, but here are the teams:

Trotwood Madison is in a different division of the conference.

The HS I went to is in their league, the GWOC conference, I went to miamisburg though which is in the south division. Centerville, the helmet next to them in the link is consistent state champions and is the school that AJ Hawk, Nugent and Herbstreit went to, plus some. Piqua won the state 'ship a couple years ago and is the school of Brandon Saine (OSU) beavercreek went to the playoffs last year. Northmont is the schoolof CJ Barnett (OSU) and Zebrie Sanders ... Kettering is usually really good as is bellbrook, Springboro is usually a playoff contender, ballard (OSU). Trotwood has been good lately which si school of moore, roundtree and shaw and Wayne is awesome too ... greg orton (Purdue) Freeman (osu) and brax. miller and the talbotts plus a bunch of others have gone there.
All in all, thats the best conference in southern Ohio except for maybe the catholic cincinnati schools like St. X.

apart from his pad level he is a very good open field tackler, even with playing 10-15 yards off the the LOS routinely, he closed very quickly. His coverage skills looked pretty solid as well.

...no sugarcoat?

I swear I am never going to remember which one's the tackle and which one's the defensive back.

T. Talbott
August 18th, 2009 at 10:43 AM ^
Which reminds me, what on earth are their nameplates on their uniforms going to look like?
August 18th, 2009 at 11:09 AM ^
For the sake of the situation, I say that they just go with Terry & Terrence. who needs a last name?
August 18th, 2009 at 11:10 AM ^
They're going to solve this the only way that Michigan football players ever solve anything like this- no, not by finding who can have the lowest pad level for the longest period of time, but by a rap contest.

Why do you think Henne started over Cone? Because of his "talent"!?! No, because Da Henn knew how to lay down a sweet beat.

really? i thought it was the other one.

the one with the shortest name is the biggest kid.
August 18th, 2009 at 10:49 AM ^
I have the same problem with their names. Hopefully one of them will develop a nickname.
August 18th, 2009 at 12:51 PM ^
just remember Terry Tackle and you'll have them straight. as for the ratings for terrence (same as wood) i think it's just the fact that the video for terrence is fresh in their(ESPN) minds while woods video was watched a while ago. but it is nice to see that we just didn't get a tag-along to terry.
August 18th, 2009 at 10:42 AM ^
I like both of the commitments. From Terrence's film he looks like a really good open field tackler which is something our secondary really needs. I think that Terry is only three stars because of his weight, if Barwis can get him to gain some weight I think he could be a really good defensive tackle.

I am confused and sorry if this has been discussed...
Are they twins? They are in the same class so I assume so but I have never seen it mentioned anywhere.
And who names their kids Terry and Terrance??? Terry is short for Terrance in many occations isn't it?
Thanks in advance for the help...
August 18th, 2009 at 10:54 AM ^
I think some things will never be fully understood, like George Foreman naming all his sons George.
The Talbott brothers are not twins, unless you classify them as "Irish Twins."
August 18th, 2009 at 2:27 PM ^
George Foreman named all his sons George because his dad left his mom when she was pregnant, so he never got to meet him. He named all his kids George so they would always know who their father was.
I know one girl though who, no joke, her name is Cashmoney (pronounced cash-mo-neigh)
August 18th, 2009 at 10:58 AM ^
they were born 9 months and 1 day apart, which is close enough that they are in the same class.
http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/hs…
Born nine months and a day apart, the Talbotts have orally committed to the Wolverines as a package deal. Wayne head coach Jay Minton confirmed the Talbotts’ decision on Sunday, Aug. 16.

comment in this story:
Michigan has also offered Talbott's younger brother, a 2010 cornerback exactly nine months younger than him. (Which, like, whoah: you go, Father Talbott.)

always did look intriguing...

"And who names their kids Terry and Terrance???"
Mrs. Grady?
Kelvin and Kevin...

Thanks for the post. Both are solid recruits.

Terrence= Diamond in the rough?
Watching his highlight tape he loves to hit. Could become a steal and jump up in the rankings through the course of the season.

Wayne HS is in SW Ohio and is part of the WOL (Western Ohio League) conference. Yes, the football is pretty good. I went to Centerville HS (home of Kirk Herbstreit, AJ Hawk, FG kicker for the Jets, etc.). A few other schools in the league usually field quality teams as well. It's like a lot of Ohio, football is emphasized and the play the field is usually pretty high-level.

favorite Wolverine. Ever.
I'm expecting your posts to live up to my lofty expectations.

true fact: when I was a wee one Walter gave me one of his gloves and signed it. that was SWEEEEEEEEEEEET.

Apparently, I'm an outsider (who would have guessed?), but I'm not that enthralled with Terrence. I'm not concerned that we gave him a scholarship, but I don't think he's that great, either. I think he's solid fundamentally (for the most part) but he's not particularly great at anything. This is a kid who might end up contributing on special teams or being a third corner, but I don't see him as a starter for Michigan.
