Submitted by mds315 on

ESPN released it's announcing teams for the bowl season:

Sugar Bowl announcing team is Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, and Holly Rowe on TV and then Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, and Heather Cox on the radio.

The Capitol One Bowl is Joe Tessitore, Rod GIlmore, and Quint Kessenich.

No Craig James!  Hooray!

I think the Tessitore-Gilmore combo is one of the best/most underrated announcer duos in the country, and I can always go for Brad Nessler. Looks good!

good.  We needed a little more climb (any for that matter) after beating OSU for it to be a likely scenario.  Most like scenario, Capital One or Outback.  I would like the Capital One better due to likely opponent, Arkansas (and a general dislike for watching South Carolina football), but would prefer the Trico call and the ABC telecast.  So I am torn.  Go LSU and Texas, that is our road to the Sugar.

Oh, God, they have the Monday Night Football crew handling the Orange Bowl. There is nothing more embarassing in college football broadcasting than people who only know the NFL well calling a bowl game. They don't know the players, they don't know the rule differences, and they start musing about how these crazy offenses would never fly in the NFL. Also, Jon Gruden will say THIS GUY a lot. Really hope Michigan goes Sugar if BCS happens.

Tirico has extensive college announcing experience and I think does a really good job no matter the sport.

Jaws might be able to give some insight, being a QB and all, but Gruden will just slob all over everyone's knob and make the entire broadcast booth very ... uncomfortable.  Don't get me wrong, I think Gruden is hilarious and seems like a good dude; I just can't believe some of the jocksniffing that comes out of his mouth at times.

I actually don't think he understands spread concepts, given how I've heard him talk about Tim Tebow. He'll definitely use the phrase "NFL-type throws" at some point.

I do remember when Tirico was a frequent college commentator, and I always liked him back in the late '80s and early '90s. But I don't know if I'll be able listen to this game.

Never realized how lucky I was to catch the end of Keith Jackson's career. Him and Bob Griese were the best duo of all-time in my opinion (college football wise).

Those poor souls who will be stuck a)listening to the game on the radio instead of TV and b)as a result will get McDonough and Millen...

Every time Millen opens his mouth I understand more and more how the Lions went 0-16.
