Thanks for the info though. This looks about right. I want LT and DG, but if we get no one else this is a great class.

The longer they draw out their recruiting, the worse the odds will get for landing them imho. Other schools will "offer" better "academic" and "financial" packages.

Sadly, until someone from another conference can break the SEC's stranglehold on the "national championship," they have a pretty good argument for being the number one conference.

I was really hoping that the "new, tough enforcement cop" wasn't just the PR ploy that it turned out to be, because it would be nice for the Big Ten to play on a level playing field against the SEC when it comes to "perks" for recruits and players.

To me, it's very encouraging that MIchigan is among a top six that includes three SEC schools and two that have spent more of the last three years being punished by the NCAA than not.  That's very impressive for a clean program.

It's something of which to be very proud.

New enforcement levels seem a little overblown.  What I'd like to see is strict limitations on signing.  When SEC teams (e.g. Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Miss. State)are signing an extra class for every four other teams sign, that's a huge advantage.  That, to me, is the #1 thing that needs to be fixed.

I think that's a pretty aggressive interpretation of what's going on here. UM has as many fans as anyone, and they're as affluent as anyone.

It has more to do with the fact that they Florida has 19 4/5* commits to UM's 17, and of the top six recruits, Florida has five of them. I wouldn't trade UM's class for Florida's, but there's nothing wrong with this ranking.

All USC had to do was stop signing 3 stars. Sure they'll burn redshirts more, and may be critically thin here and there, but with Harbaugh moved on, the recruit rich state of California belongs to USC. All those 4 and 5 stars still see USC, and now they see more playing time too.

A sanction like USCs would kill a program like say Oregon State, but because every kid in California grows up dreaming USC football, it is not going to do much there. Especially since they are through their bowl ban already. The same goes for Ohio.

Now UNC, they are going to Bolivia for a while.

Beyond that what makes the difference is how you develop players.  I think Michigan will do really well in that area going forward, so I'm not worried at all if some team like FLA is placed above us.

I love this class! (and last for that matter) I think we addressed all our needs not just well, but with A+ recruits.  We have an excellent shot at primo receiver, running back, and/or DB, (not to mention a 4-5* LB just hoping for a open slot to develop for a way in.) They are a tight group already and haven’t even started training together.

I am sorry, but right now I just don’t care about whether we have the top class.  Keep getting those top5 classes each year works just fine. IMO we are improving and recruiting top-flight classes again. The earth has been righted back on its axis, we have a coach that shoots straight, means what he says, and bleeds blue, NOW BRING ON THE FIELD AND LETS PLAY SOME FOOTBALL!

Yes it may have some influence, but he’s resigning, not as if he was moving to a different program. He has to leave due to fallout of association with the Miami investigation, so if it doesn’t involve future infractions against UF probably minimal effect on this class.

The good news for UF is that he left now.  They still have about 6 months to keep their recruiting class together, but Aubrey Hill just resigned as UF's WR Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.  Apparently, he resigned to deal with circumstances surrounding his time at Miami.

This is Charles Robinson's article from July 20th 2012:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--hurricanes-coach-al-golden-s-staff-used-booster-s-associate-in-potential-recruiting-violations.html

Much of the story is based on former Equipment Manager, Sean Allen's testimony during Nevin Shapiro's bankruptcy trial -

But according to Allen's federal testimony and the former Hurricanes staffer, Allen's recruiting infractions occurred almost immediately after Golden's tenure began and took place with the participation of at least two other former or current coaches – former assistant Aubrey Hill, who left Miami's staff three weeks into Golden's tenure, and current assistant coach Micheal Barrow.

Based on this article, it's unclear what Aubrey Hill may have done prior to Golden's arrival at Miami.  However, it's unlikely that he could have done so much in just 3 weeks with Golden to warrant resigning his current post.

The best news in this is if these kids were choosing UF because of the WR Coach / Recruiting Coord., they still have 6 months to decide if UF is definitely the best fit for them.

It was only a matter of time.  ESPN has always been anti-Michigan and it would be over their dead bodies to have us stay at the top.  But, it doesn't matter because I think we still have the best class in the country.  No one can come close to our OL!
