ESPN Recruit Rankings Update

Submitted by MgoViper on

ESPN has raised their numbers on the recruits.

Shane Morris was an 82, now an 87.

Garon Conely was an 81, now an 85

Almost all the rest were 81's and are now 84's.

Patrick Kugler is still massively underrated at a 83, up from a 81

This class is gonna be historic!

Is everyone as excited as i am? Your thoughts?

My guess is that they just raised everybody and changed the ranking system slightly, if you check the rest of the 150 everybody got bumped

So you don't really care about relative rankings, only that our recruits have high numbers? Boy, you'll LOVE David from Wyoming's recruit rankings then. I rank players on a numeric scale of 1 to 1,000,000 (1 = football skills of protozoa, 1,000,000 = football skills of an average NFL player)

odd as to why they Conely as being such a strong recruit compared to the other recruiting services.  Not that I disagree with either but the difference btwn the evaluations is pretty large.

Just relized ESPN says Taco Charlton's best traits are run stopping and disruptiveness. He is ranked by them as the #9 DE prospect. This contradicts some posts I saw on this blog which speculate about Taco's run defense.

It is exciting to see these recruits coming to a football program which may be the best in the country at developing the abilities and character of talented recruits. Plus, Michigan may be very close to getting the number one class for 2013. I look forward with interest to the 6-6-12 ESPN revisions.

From what I've seen at the two Nike camps he went two, he's surprisingly strong for a skinny dude.  Coupled with his quickness and some proper coaching, he could be a terror off the edge. Looking forward to watching him over the years.

He's one of the guys that I've been interested in. Im not originally from Columbus, but since i live here now, I've been trying to scout the local talent, after moving from the Akron-Canton area, known for strong football. I saw a few of Taco's HS games, and I'll be interested to see him in action this year after the camps this summer. He'll get more PT, and I'll be looking for more, after learning more about his style from the multiple NFTC camps he attended. (I was at the ODU camp in Cbus).

The one thing that will be the test for me is how he performs in pads on the edge his senior year and at the college level. Everyone praises his speed at the camps, but the DE vs. Tackle drill definitely favors the DE when they aren't wearing pads, and there's three or four yards of rush before the contact. With more playing time in games, we should see how his speed rush transfers with pads, and whether or not he DOES have a weakness in certain coverage packages.

This is a nice change. Before, it seemed that outside of a few recruits at the top, great recruits got an 80 and other high-major recruits got a 79. Not sure how that stupidity got implemented to begin with.
