ESPN Ranks BBall Conferences

Interesting read, hopefully the B1G surpasses the Big East with strong tourney performances... though sheerly from a numbers perspective that doesn't seem probable.

We win in the computers.  We lose in the media polls which, surprise, are centered on the East Coast.

The idea that you are better on paper doesn't usually fly, and the coaches polls aren't really centered on any coast...

Don't forget that St. Johns (a 8 seed in the Big East) smoked Duke.
The head to heads with the Big East OOC schedule was really lopsided in their favor. I realize lots of these were early matchups and some of the B10 teams have matured since then, however matching up the conferences would put Indiana and Iowa vs. Villanova Marquette or Seton Hall...

Not to mention Syracuse v. Michigan rd 2...

On the fifth night—possibly the sixth—a breeze arose.
It was cool and dewy.

It wouldn't be the Big Ten's teams vs the best 11 Big East teams. That is an unfair comparison, leaving out the Big East's worst five teams.

Take the Big Ten's first three teams (osu, purdue and wiscy) and compare vs. the top three Big East (pitt, nd and louisville). advantage: Big Ten

Then take the middle four in the Big Ten (michigan, illinois, penn state and michigan state) vs the middle four teams in the Big East(cincy, georgetown, uconn and villanova). advantage: even

Last, take the bottom three from each conference, (B10:  Minnesota, Iowa and Indiana) vs. Big East: Providence, South Florida and DePaul) advantage: Big Ten

Overall Advantage: Big Ten

Wait and see how many Sweet 16 and Final Four teams each conference has.

And which league, if any, has the national champion.

I bet the Big Ten will do at least as well, and, I hope, better.

Yippee?

Expect the Big East to struggle like they tend to during the tourney, and for the B1G to have a good showing.  I'm sure the BE will have more total wins, but the winning percentages should be similar.
