Agree. I am trying (although it's hard) to not look ahead and start thinking about new year's day bowls, beating OSU, etc. So much could still happen, especially injuries, and you just know that we are headed for some games where things don't click right on side of the ball or the other. For the moment, I'm just trying to soak it up and enjoy the moment, the spotlight and where we are...what a difference a year makes!

While you are certainly correct that there is a lot of football left to be played, half the fun is getting carried away and dreaming of big victories, being part of the B10 Championship race, making to a NYD bowl and of course, beating up on OSU. Now, the players on the other hand, they need to concentrate on EMU and EMU only. Us? Let's dream big.

The weird one is Rittenberg. He ranks us second(!) in the Big 10 power ranking on his blog right after Penn State, and ahead of OSU, but on the link above, he has Ohio State ranked at 11 and us at 24. Not quite sure what the thought process there is...

Personally, I find it considerably less stressful to have a young team than an experienced one. With a senior-led team, there's a sense of urgency to capitalize. When you have a freshman QB, losing a game isn't the end of the world.

We have no idea how this team will play when they don't have the Big House on their side. I'm holding my breath. When and if they win convincingly at Iowa, then I might start thinking Penn State. But I still remember the Toledo game last year - I was there, dumbstruck - so I take nothing for granted.

to contain ourselves after such a promising start to a season that many of us were skeptical about heading in. Even the most optimistic Wolverine fan would only go out on the limb of 7-5 or 8-4 at the very high end. After their performances and the emergence of Forcier it is very difficult to quell expectations much higher than 7-5. However, Wendy's post brings up a great point that we do not know anything about this young team outside of the Big House. Would we have beaten Notre Dame in South Bend? Would Forcier have kept his cool as much on the road? Those are questions that are left to be answered, some of them will be on October 3rd when we face a presumably hostile crowd in East Lansing. It is great to see people with respectable opinions like McShay ranking us as high as #12 in his power ranking but I have always tried to take the same approach as the football team which would be to enjoy the victory for 24 hours and then get focused back on our opponent for the coming week. A major letdown and total debacle against EMU would send us fans right back into depression mode.
