ESPN OTL: Terrelle Pryor made $20-$40k autographing memorabilia

I don't see anything on their main page, and shockingly this hasn't created a Twitterstorm as of yet.  I'll update with links if/when they become available.

One has to think Pryor's decision to leave OSU is related to this forthcoming story.  Unfortunately, since he's no longer a student-athlete, he technically doesn't have to cooperate with the NCAA.

Edit: I'm an idiot who can't re-size an image.  Was going to post this here.

EDIT #2: Link courtesy of Erik_in_Dayton.  Gracias.

EDIT #3: More info coming out, this one by SportsbyBrooks (HT: TomVH on Twitter).

What's the thought on whether a decision will be made on August 12th? With everything that has come out since the last notice of allegations, doesn't it stand to reason that the NCAA will reconsider and amend the allegations, including a possible lack of inst. control charge, and delay a final decision until they have found out everything they can?

This just keeps on getting better!  It's going to take the NCAA forever to work through the whole OSU athletic department.  I have a hunch that there may be some changes throughout the whole CFB landscape as a result of this OSU investigation.

Isn't Outside the Lines a tv program on ESPN?  I read the article, but didn't see any mention of when/how to see this on tv.  I wanna see this in full 46" HD glory!

buying my fat prick, asshat douchebag, fuckface smug-ass dick brother in law a new Bucks t-shirt for x-mas 9 of the last 10 ears, per our long-standing agreement - loser buys.  I have some sweet maize/blue rep ties from the 90's, but sending one XXXL after another has been gut-wrenching to say the least. The last couple years, with the blowouts, he hasn't even acknowledged the shit I've sent him. Fucking dick.

He just texted me "I'll send them all back if you can make this stop".  Sorry buddy. I have no idea what my sister ever saw in you - you're a fatass dickhead, and the only reason I give you the time of day is because I have to.  Eat a dick, and enjoy your return to mediocrity.

Wonder about the possibility of a deep pocketed booster paying Pryor, say $100,000.00, to skip his senior season? He cannot be compelled to speak with the NCAA investigators now that he is no longer in school.

I am not saying this has happened.

...much better. See this at SportsbyBrooks.

In addition to Pryor’s past NCAA transgressions, today I confirmed that Ohio State was recently cited by NCAA enforcment officials for dozens of payments Pryor received in past years from a Columbus sports memorabilia dealer that are considered outside of NCAA rules.

The NCAA violations were discovered when the name of the local memorabilia dealer, Dennis Talbott, was seen on checks Pryor was depositing in his personal bank account.

...valiant effort.

One more quote from that SportsbyBrooks article.

Talbott, who is a professional sports photographer who has shot images appearing at SI.com and ESPN.com, often obtained media credentials from Ohio State in order to gain access to Buckeye football players.

Midway through the 2010 football season, Talbott was ordered by Ohio State officials to completely disassociate himself from the program. That indicates that administrative members of the OSU athletic department knew of Pryor’s activities involving Talbott long before the NCAA recently discovered the payments from Talbott to the former Buckeye quarterback.

OSU is so dead.

Just read the link you posted and will echo your comment.  For weeks, I've been asking friends: how could no else have known about this stuff going on?  I asked a friend over the weekend who works in an athletic department at another school and he simply replied, "they knew".

So, we've just now started touching on the violations. We will also start learning more about the "who".  Will it surprise anyone if it was more than Pryor involved with Talbott? Which coaches knew? The equipment managers must have known. Why hasn't Gee fired Gene Smith, the compliance department and the equipment managers? The only thing I can think of is that they might have actually done their job and reported it up the ladder, only for it to be blocked at the top. Maybe even Gee himself.

What a bunch of idiots!  Why in the hell would you pay the dumbass kid in a check!?  They all feel that the Buckeye wall that encloses Columbus and most of the state protects them from everything.  This can be the only explanation for their arrogance in how they have been doing business in Columbus.

It's not on the memorabilia dealer to make sure Pryor is clean. He's a business man. Whether Pryor is following NCAA rules isn't his problem. It may be something else if it can be shown that he aided or abetted a crime. However, it's not on him to make sure Pryor pays his taxes.

As a business man, you'd think the guy would realize that

1)paying with personal check = Pryor more likely to get busted by NCAA/Feds

2) Pryor getting busted by NCAA/Feds = Pryor memorabilia worth less coin.

Still dumb.

If this is true, Hello Lack of Institutional Control. This may be the most damning piece yet.

Can someone say "coverup"?

I mean, I know Pryor isn't necessarily the poster boy for academic achievement, but you'd think someone involved in these transactions, somewhere along the line, would have realized it's a bad idea for a nationally recognized star athlete to cash completely traceable, non-anonymous checks from a memorabilia dealer? Surely?

T. Pryor is truly a mental midget (my bad "little person").  This is what happens when arrogance sets in and an individual believes he is untouchable.  Dark days are looming for The University of Ohio State...  I almost pity them.  ALMOST.

if we win a couple of those head to head encounters. And every other kid in every other program who ever suffered at the hands of their gilded class of mercenaries. F OSU. F OSU forever. Pryor will remain the focus, but he shouldn't. I blame these amazingly hypocritical adults, drooling Jesus and cashing in. Pryor was making chump change compared to the Senator.

is that OSU is still lagging behind the news.  Gee is still saying that Smith is going to keep his job.

Gordon, let's face it.  Smith and the entire compliance department are getting fired.  A dozen current players are going to be penalized.  Awards and entire seasons will be stripped.  You can either get ahead of the news and do it now, or you can wait until it's too late, and you will join your comrades in the ranks of the unemployed.

Now this investigation will be expanding too.  Poor OSU FOIA coordinator, welcome to the new round of FOIA requests for emails, phone calls, text messages, etc.. about Talbott.

This is ugly, and despite what may seem impossible, it will get uglier.

A few years ago, the pincherbug here was audited by the IRS for business use of a vehicle.  They brought me down to an unmarked federal building for a complete audit.  Those bastards came prepared too! ... but so was I...I had documentation of everything and I won the audit not having to pay any back taxes...the IRS people said that it was unusual for them not to have gotten someone for something on an audit...

so..yeah the IRS will GRILL Pryor once they get wind of this.  Upwards of 100k and beyond and "tax free"?  that shit will not fly with the IRS...

Pryor is in for a load of issues coming on.... and none of them have anything to do with football on the field.

Give the kid some credit....from signing day until his abrupt end at tsio, he finally figured out how to properly say the name

"In the best interests of my teammates, I've made the decision to forgo my senior year of football at *The Ohio State University*," Pryor said in a statement issued by James.
