Schefter's whole gig is trading information between NFL front offices. Which can lead to spectacular failures if NFL front offices aren't the major players.

Including my own!
We are a sensitive bunch and for some reason are letting espn get under our skin by not carrying the story.
Why?

Then organizations/people traditionally with a lot of credibility will lose it and organizations without any credibility will gain some back.
But always remember that NFL reporters are so incurious and so frequently just toe the NFL company line that they never bothered to ask for or even look for the tape of Ray Rice beating the shit out of his fiancee.

ESPN Adam Snicker Bar is still insisting NFL, but is bringing Michigan more into the game. These national heads have sure shown me that the "sources" they use are old and out dated. Hard to believe Schefter is a Michigan grad.

Teams going to get around the Rooney Rule by 8:30 pm tonight is the question I have for espn?

Perhaps they are still gun-shy from the Herbstreit/Miles torpedo job.

It's all just PR & spin. The NFL just doesn't want to allow today's game to be a farce, also not air their dirty laundry yet, etc.

Well I just saw a tweet from Ian Rappaport stating:
"#Raiders owner Mark Davis told me last night that GM Reggie McKenzie will be involved with him in head coach interviews that start Monday."
If true, it means that they are not contemplating giving Harbaugh full control of anything in Oakland!
I don't think an offer is forthcoming!

Latest Schefter Tweet:
'Michigan has been telling incoming recruits it plans to have a new HC by middle of this week. Michigan is confident'
(still trying to figure out how to imbed the tweet).

.@richeisen True enough, of course. But hotel reservations in Ann Arbor tend to be non-transferrable.

We should cut Schefty some slack. He is on record as wanting Harbaugh at Michigan since he is an alum. His sources just aren't as tuned in since he's in the NFL.

They get more viewers and clicks on this story. They get more attention to focus on the ESPN telecast of the UM Illinois game, where JH would presumably be introduced.
Perhaps unwittingly this continued coverage is actually doing UM a favor. So long as there is any perceived uncertainty, the news coverage of Harbaugh to UM continues. It continues to dominate the news cycle and drown out the already weak sounds from the bowl season. The latter, in the long term, however, may not be so good for ESPN.
The continued coverage also underlines the fact that Harbaugh is the hottest coaching name in the nation.
