"Anyone who saw him Saturday, or who has seen him play in general, also won’t doubt the likelihood that he’ll eventually end up with that coveted invitation. "
Yep, that's Simba made out of a pineapple.
I like how he took his struggles so seriously. It shows how much of a competitor he is and will not settle for anything less than being the best.
Its not hatred if the dude didn't perform the best. And he admitted he didn't do his best. He's got his senior season to prove himself.
"Are you an official here?Because you've officially given me a boner."
No cause for concern. Shane can learn to adjust his technique as needed, whereas the kind of arm he has is something you can't teach. Won't be too long before he is where he wants to be, at the top of his class . . . .

I have mixed feeling about his performance.
I feel bad for him, especially because he went so far out of his way to go to this, and he really wanted to exceed. And, as a Michigan, I want to see all my players do as well as they can and get all the recognition they can.
However, I think this will be a good learning experience for him. I know, it's a cliché response to this kind of thing, but I think it's true. He'll take the criticisms to heart, work on them, hopefully improve his touch and footwork. Then, after working on these, I expect him to dominate in Columbus.

It seems like he was struggling with putting thr right amount of touch on the ball. He seemed pretty good at this in his game film, so I wonder if he was trying to crank it up to impress the coaches.
This might be arrogant, and if it is, it is, but we're Michigan
This is a very common problem for QBs and pitchers in big games and camps like this. They go out and try to show off a little extra on the arm. Nothing to worry about. He has the arm, technique, and work ethic. The next camp he will be fine.
What can we reasonably expect at QB after Denard leaves? Is it possible that Morris starts as a freshman--is he that good? Could he compete with Gardner (provided he stays at QB), and is Bellomy going to compete?
A lot of questions that I don't have the answers to. I'd appreciate any opinions on the topic!
Barring some unforseen consequence (like Bellomy or Gardner unable to assume the starting roll, or Shane being absolutely exceptional out of high school) I would guess that Shane would redshirt a year, or at least do a year as a back up QB behind Gardner and/or Bellomy. The next year is when it gets interesting, with Bellomy, Gardner and an older Morris competing for a starting job.

I think Morris will probably redshirt one year.
by all accounts camped well today. Touch and accuracy are two things that can be worked on, has all the physical tools.
Looking for BTTYS Nike sb Michigan Dunk Highs size 14, hit me up.
It would be best if he did redshirt. Its not like Gardner was a hack coming out of high school. I'd hate to have to go through the ups and downs of a season like Tates, or the season of the two headed monster of Threet/Sheridan. Yes its a different system but he's still fresh out of high school. Gardner needs to continue to develop to take the reigns after Denard. Hoke needs to get some big leads versus the cupcakes and let Devin play a whole quarter, maybe even a half.
Him having an off day could have been one of the best things to happen to him or us. That video shows the fire in his eyes that he will work on perfecting everything. Not saying that he has done this, but sometimes elite quarterbacks get complacent because everybody tells them how great they are. Like it or not this might have in a reality check for him that the media and recruiters will never let you just have an off day and not make a big deal of it. He'll be alright and he will be one the elite 11 finalists.
Great competitors tend to learn more by failing that succeeding. The fact that he is so driven to succeed in this even thought he has already got a guaranteed scholarship to Michigan says something about what a competitor he is. He doesn't need these camps to raise his profile like the guy from Texas who won this weekend did. That kid is a 3-star trying to get better college offers.
Ultimately, Morris' performance in these camps is irrelevant. Michigan isn't going to drop him if he doesn't make the final 11. He is doing this because it's a challenge put in front of him and he wants to excel at it. Gotta love that regardless of how he ends up getting ranked.
16, who cares if he struggled at some weekend camp in March of his junior season.
Everyone has a bad day. Though, I thought he had good footwork and some good throws in that video clip. I'm sure he's always working to improve, and will do well in Columbus.
expect the best
He tried to impress everyone and threw the ball too hard that the WRs oculdn't catch it. He will be just fine
“When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing” - Bo Schembechler
As my HS coach would say, "You can't coach give a sh-t!" I would much rather have my quarterback care a little too much and put the pressure on himself than someone who doesn't care. If you watch the video, it is obvious that this kid legitimately cares about being the best that he can be. His teammates will play harder for him because of it (this is already showing up in recruiting, people want to play with him, that is a big deal). Is he a bit raw as a quarterback; yes. Footwork and touch on his passes are coachable things, arm strength, competitiveness, and the desire to improve are not. I have all the faith in the world that with our coaching staff and his skills, he can be a great quarterback one day and like was previously mentioned, barring unforeseen circumstances, he shouldn't have to be the starter from day one.
Those who stay will be Champions!
I'd rather have a QB that's too hard on himself as compared to not enough.
It's been a lot. Its been a roller coaster that for some reason seemed like it would never get good. But you know what? We kept fighting. It's like that old saying goes, "Those Who Stay Will Be Champions." -David Molk
Sounds like he was just a bit too amped and over throwing the ball. That kid has to control that cannon!!! What a "problem" to have!!
the rivals video shows Shane throwing some outs to a shorter receiver;
Shane's ball didn't have the tightest spiral, but the WR kept having the ball bounce off the fingers.
Either a) WR had butterfingers, or b), Shane was trying to thrown a NFL out and break the WR's fingers.
Problematic. We need the spiral tight enough to rip gloves, and the velocity strong enough to break bones. I want to see shane throw a ball so fast, with such a tight spiral, even if a linebacker gets in the way it'll just pass through his body, slowing down just enough for the receiver to catch it, and still rip his gloves.
I think he was just nervous at this camp. He has been committed to michigan for a while and has been getting a lot of attention, which adds a ton of presure. I think he is a bit of a perfectionest, which is good in moderation, but I just hope Shane can ease some of the presure and enjoy the game. Hopefully Denard can pass some of those tips along to him.
Not a knock but in those games I never never got the sense I was watching a special player and did notice he threw too hard for his receivers who were not all that skilled.
Don't call me a hater I will be his biggest fan but this analysis does not surprise me.
I actually think Bellomy may be the Tom Brady to his Henson in terms of hype vs performance.
More Michigan hatred from ESPN.
Shocked.
