how he says the porgram has to take it a game at a time to be "back". And is it me or does he get asked about the Suh camp every interview? lol

Rittenberg: Excited to play football?

MM: Yes

Rittenberg: Is the D-line enjoying the attention?

MM: Yes.  We basically have 3 line coaches (including Hoke, Mattison).

Rittenberg: You worked with Suh this summer. Was that cool?

MM: Yes

Rittenberg: Learn anything from him?

MM: Must work hard.

Rittenberg: Trash talking with Suh re: Nebraska game?

MM: Yep.

Rittenberg: Excited with Nebraska joining and new divisions and everything?

MM: Yep. Nebraska = smashmouth

Rittenberg: Expectations?

MM: "Sky's the limit."

Rittenberg: "How soon until you (Michigan) get back?"

MM: We'll see

Rittenberg: Looking to go out as a senior on a high note?

MM: That's be good.

I don't know if that transcript of MMs interview is accurate, but his succinct answers indicate he either wasn't completely interested in the questions OR he wants to let the team's play provide the answers.  Either way, I can't wait to watch him work.

I know this is OT from the thread, but unfortunately I do not have enough MGoPoints to start a new thread, so here goes.

I'm planning to attend the away game at Northwestern this year. This will be my first away game experience, and so I'm not sure where would be a good place to sit in this stadium? Also, what would be my best option to purchase tickets? I looked on Northwestern's website, but couldn't find a link anywhere to actually purchase single game tickets. I've been to Chicago before, three times, but about how long would it take to get from Chicago to the stadium?

Again, my apologies for the off-topic nature of my post, but thank you in advance to anyone who could help me out. It is greatly appreciated!

I've been there before.  It's a small stadium, so sight lines aren't really a problem anywhere.  There will be a large number of Michigan fans.  If you buy tickets through U-M you'll be guaranteed to sit with other U-M fans, but there will be plenty all over.  If you buy tickets through NU you'll have to wait a little while, because they haven't released individual tickets yet.  They will later on.  I've always bought tickets through NU.   They're a little cheaper and you can sometimes get better seats.  Keep an eye on their website - they may go quickly.

As far as a hotel goes, I'd avoid the city of Chicago itself and stay closer to Evanston.  The trip to/from downtown to Evanston can be a pain, especially at night (when the el train doesn't run as often). Parking in Evanston on gameday can be tough.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate the advice! I think I'll just wait for NU to start selling tickets then, if they're cheaper. I don't mind sitting around fans of the other team, especially since I've heard they are some of the nicest in the B1G.

And about hotels, would you have any recommendations? Any good experiences? It will be myself and my girlfriend making the trip, if that makes any difference in your opinion. We've been to Chicago twice together, and that was sort of my motivation for choosing this one. I love Chicago, and she really loves to shop in Chicago. Perfect time to go.

There are quite a few good hotels around Evanston/Skokie and thereabouts.  I've stayed in three different ones and they were all fine.  I would just recommend getting one that is close to public transportation (or better yet, within walking distance) to the stadium, because I did have a very difficult time parking the first time I went.  They get booked pretty quickly, so you may want to hustle.  It's not hard to go from there to downtown Chicago during the day (so you can do shopping then), but it is tougher to go at night, and it's a night game, so I'd avoid staying downtown itself.

Awesome, I guess I'll have to start looking into my hotel now then. Thanks again, from one Wolverine to another!

EDIT: meant to be a reply to jmblue above, whoops.

I live in Chicago and have to say I have the opposite opinion of jmblue. Ryan Field is near both the Central Ave Purple Line stop and the Central Ave Metra stop. The purple will take you to the Red line which goes all the way to downtown. The Metra goes straight downtown. Travel time is about 30 mins, but it only runs about once every hour on a weekend night. Jmblue is right that travel takes longer on a weekend night, but if you're gonna make a weekend of it with the lady, I think you'll have more fun staying in chicago. Evanston is nice, but generally pretty lame, imho.

You might think about splitting the difference and staying in a hotel on the northside of Chicago, rather than downtown. There are a bunch of places in Lakeview, which is right of the redline and roughly in the middle of Evanston and the Loop. There are some cool bed and breakfasts in Bucktown and Wicker Park, but those are decidedly less convenient to reach from evanston.
