as reported tonight on ESPN Insider.
this is why we cant pay attention to the national rumor mill.
this is the same network that had les miles coming to michigan right?
i really like espn, but sometimes they do incredibly stupid stuff for a national network. wish they would fire millen and stick to reporting the news (versus manufacturing it).
To this day, I believe that story was true, Kirk heard about it, and Kirk announced it to screw Michigan and atone for the bad things he said about Tressel back in '03/04.
That article is lousy even by Dodd standards. Still, I found this interesting:
Rodriguez's supporters say the blame should be on Carr because of his final two recruiting classes in 2006 and 2007. In Michigan's five losses this season, the winning team had an average of 11.95 more starting fourth-year seniors than the Wolverines, according to the stats. If Michigan doesn't have a player drafted in 2011, only five will have been drafted in Rodriguez's first three seasons. The previous Michigan low over a three-year period was nine from 1984-86. Again, this is being blamed on Carr.
Now, RichRod's detractors would (justifiably) add Mallet, Mr. Plow, and *maybe* a couple other guys (Clemons?) to that list. They'd probably use "run off" in a sentence or two. Still, it does support the idea that Rodriguez was dealt a mediocre hand of cards. Whether he played it well or not is the important question.
crap. Didn't Dodd assert that Brandon was "drooling" over the prospect of Harbaugh's coming? Yuck, just yuck.
No, ESPN still does not have any credibility as a news source. Next question.
Tressell is retiring in about 15 years. So it makes total sense.
when he's 73?
Right, I guess that's too Paterno-early. So, probably in 30 years...
Michigan has proven they can beat Urban Meyer with the greatest, most wonderful, amazingest, best person/quarterback ever Tim Tebow. Seems like it'd be a lot easier beating him with the typical trash at OSU.
tebow? i think you mean superman...
Superman? I think you mean Jesus 2.0
Jesus 2.0? I think you mean God himself
I really enjoyed seeing superman's helmet full of turf three years ago.
I have to chuckle every time I see people bash Tebow on here. It is hilarious that this one young man can make so many feel insecure about themselves. Ya lets bash the guy that does the right thing, how dare he not torture dogs and beat women. Those are the guys we need to hold up as role models!
For a fan base that never fails to point out their "classiness" to any and all who will listen. I am finding more and more on this forum the exact opposite when it comes to reality.
I don't think you understand.
I rarely, if ever, see Tebow *bashed* here. I'd bet that most posters, if asked, would concede that he's basically a good guy who has "walked the walk" (however quaintly old-school that walk is).
No, the problem is that the press has lifted him up to (as someone else here put it) Jesus v2.0. That's a bit much, isn't it? Of note, this has all taken place in the setting of the Family Values crap that Mike Boren started.
of respect for Tebow. He certainly walks the walk and is a man of honor. We would do right to elevate such men in our society. Of course, not to a level of Godhood. I hope he is very successful at the next level, and blessed.
Would look good in maize and blue. I wanted him lloyds last year. Oh well. We will just have to kick his ass.
video it did'nt happen. therefore it's not true
to help you on your way.
And +1 more
The ESPN Insider column was answering a question on where they thought Meyer would coach next. The answer was stated as a "hunch" that he would end up at OSU. It was never stated as a fact or even a rumor, just idle speculation.
Headline in Ohio Mid January:
Woody Hayes to succeed Tressel: "Satan can't keep me out of Columbus"
SubHead: Professor Hayes vows to return to teaching mandatory vocabulary and English to his freshmen players.
SubSubHead: Hayes fired after his first game back from the dead for punching a Kent player in the face.
Dr Strange Hayes did expect his kids to know where the classrooms were.
I'd have a boner if it were true.
I hope he can punch better the second time around.
Three yards and a cloud of grammar for Pryor.
There sorry two.
I need more so I can finish.
Thats what she said?
Be careful what you wish for. Meyer isn't the same coach that won two titles at Florida. He's decided family and health are "priorities." Tressel is special, and don't forget it.
Ohh I know, Tressel can Paterno his way out of here if he wants. He earned it. That being said, he has specifically said he wasn't going to do that, and I would take Urban in a heartbeat, (or Gary Patterson).
Someone's ego seems a little fragile...
///I'll see you guys in Bolivia.
You have just unleashed the jinx.
2-0 unless I'm mistaken.
12 hours to Atlanta, see some friends. Over to Savannah, which, touristy, but nice. Jekyll Island, where the sprinklers were running in the morning. Jacksonville last night, where I gave DB a Go Blue at River City Brewing Company (food is awful, beer is worse - just go to Ruth's Chris). Dinner this evening at the Ritz on Amelia Island, where, no shit, our waitress was a Michigan State grad.
My first bowl game. Don't think I'll ever miss another. Go Blue
Not sure if you were kidding about this part, but either way, it's perfect:
"Dinner this evening at the Ritz on Amelia Island, where, no shit, our waitress was a Michigan State grad."
That she never liked football that much until recently, after State won 12 national titles in 3 years?
Nice girl, but unwittingly provided me a lifetime supply of cannon fodder for the rivalry.
Just out of curiosity, what did you find touristy about Savannah? I was there earlier last year and didn't see much of that away from downtown and the riverfront. Looked pretty authentic in most spots, actually ...
We only had the one day, spent on the waterfront and downtown. Nice with the Spanish moss, town squares and churches. But literally/figuratively almost run over by the horse-drawn, walking, and cart tours, and 'Oglethorpe' now tattooed on my brain.
If I sound like I didn't enjoy it I've missed my mark - very nice town, even in the touristy part.
The spread will never work in the Big 10.
Dude, are you serious? After watching Sheridan rip up Minnesota in 2008? Come on.....
The game tomorrow...
Our helmets have Wings and we have Mr Robinson's speed.
Does not say that. It says that Bruce Feldman's hunch is that Meyer will be the next head coach after Tressel. Later in his paragraph he says that he could also see Meyer taking over for Mack Brown, so he's just linking Urban Meyer to big name jobs in the near future.
For any big time jobs that open up. Check. They're not the WWL for nothing!
one who just isn't that impressed with Meyer. He simply should have won more at Florida given the talent. To me it seems like it was all Tebow.
It's just you.
(2 of 6 National Championships not enough for you? The first with Tebow in a limited role...)
He won 2 MNCs plus another BCS bowl. How much more could he have won?
If you count Utah.
In fact, if he can beat PSU today, he'll have won every bowl he coached in...except...well, you know....
you're in a very small club.
Urban Meyer may be a total a--hole but he knows how to win college football games. Period.
I don't listen to ANYTHING until its been officially announced anymore....
Let's see: Meyer leaves because the long hours are affecting his health and he is burnt out on having to miss his kids' various athletic events. So, obviously, his next stop should be a nice, laid-back program like that of OSU. Yeah, that's it....
This is the shit I wake up to on new years day.
Edit: My interpretation watching College Football Live last night is Lou Holtz projects his son Skip to ND. I base this on nothing but Lou crazy medication and Mark Mays’ ESS EEE SEE man lovin.
