ESPN - Harbaugh invades the SEC

People seem to be liking the camps.

As one observer on the sideline noted when Harbaugh ripped his shirt off and began running around in his khakis: "Let’s see Nick Saban do that.

But he doesn’t see any controversy with Harbaugh or any other coach competing for recruits on the SEC’s turf. The bottom line, he said, was they could stop their "whining."

"The SEC is so competitive and these coaches have worked so hard to get this part of the country covered up. But bless their hearts, it hurt their feelings because somebody from up North came down here."

Of the 256 Players chosen in the 2015 NFL draft, I counted 55 that came from non-Power 5 Schools (>20%). Most of them where chosen in the later rounds but there were still quite a few in the Top3 rounds. I wonder if these camps will give more exposure to the players that are normally passed over for big time offers.

As Harbaugh has increased the profile of these lesser known camps, more scouts will come out to see the players from the recruiting services, more evaluations will be done, and I'm guessing a more balanced view of player ratings will eventually be the outcome. The end result may be that the All-conference UCF or TCU player that was a 2-star last year becasue there was limited tape and camp evaluation on him now will get bumped to 3-star and the "surprise" factor will be lessened when these guys actually perform at a college level. I guess what I'm saying is that the potential for "hidden gems" will be lessened as the guys who would've been considered hidden, aren't so much any more.

I used to be a "regular" in the comments section of the ESPN Big 10 blog - there was a whole group of people there who would be on pretty much every day just hanging out, rarely talking about football.  Eventually a user shows up who by her username purports to be a female Michigan fan.  She also became a regular.  We would talk and kind of flirt in the comments, so we became a "thing," at least in the scope of the blog.  Eventually, the Manti Teo thing happened, and people started making jokes about whether or not she was actually a girl.  So jokingly, I asked her, "you're not catfishing me are you?"

So she sent me a private message with her twitter handle as proof that she is indeed a female.  I don't have twitter, so I responded by giving her my google+ info as collateral, since I now knew who she was, and it would be unfair for me to know that and her to not know who I was, since we interacted with a bunch of fairly insane people on the internet every day.  Once that happened, we both showed up in each other's gchat lists (neither of us knew that would happen), and we started chatting on there.

One thing led to another, and now we are engaged!

[Penn State coach James Franklin] comes in last year and you don’t ever hear anything about it -- no ripple, no wave." But Harbaugh is all waves.
