ESPN Crediting MGoBlog for Being Part of Bringing Down Brandon

Submitted by mGrowOld on

Wow....this is amazing!

Earlier this week, mgoblog.com posted caustic and condescending emails that fans wrote to Brandon with their concerns about the athletic department. The website reviewed email exchanges between Brandon and several different fans in which he allegedly told one to "quit drinking and go to bed" and another to "find a new team to support."

Reached for comment, a Michigan spokesman told ESPN.com the school had "nothing else to add."

I guess the emails kinda DID matter.......

This was an article that was buried in the ESPN Big Ten Blog that got bumped in light of today's move. Pretty awesome that some investigative reporting from this-here site gets noticed nationally though.

The blog's going to be gettin a ton of traffice and rightly so. Credite by Angelique, ESPN, I believe Olbermann, and probably any other news source documenting Brandon's rapid decline this fall. We're a spoiled fanbase to have a blog this good

We did it guys! Brandon's Babylon has fallen. Amazing how the collective voice of the fantasy was able to be expressed through this blog. Brian and Ace, amazing how you guys compiled the emails for the report.

BTN sent a tweet a little bit ago that they will have the whole thing live, and I assume that means online as well in their case. I haven't seen many other outlets mention it though. DetNews might carry video of it since they sometimes do the coach pressers like that. If you're in SE Michigan, I bet the local network affiliates will have it too.

The only thing I don't like is how the wording makes it sound like M fans were the ones writing the caustic and condescending e-mails. Let's be clear here that while the e-mails were not exactly brimming with joy, Dave's responses were the acidic part of the interaction.

The way this is written makes it sound like the emails to DB were caustic and condescending, not the other way around. But hey, that's what I have come to expect from the Worldwide Leader.

"caustic and condescending emails that fans wrote to Brandon..."

NO, NO NO NO.  People may have been harsh, but DB WAS the one who was condescending and caustic.  That's bullshit, ESPN.

I can see why the emails story would be such a push over the edge.

I think many of our complaints about DB were harder to digest or get fired up about by the general public (people who aren't hardcore fans). All the bullshit in the past 5 years like noodles, seat cushions, water bottles, sky-writing, no band in Dallas, even 2 Cokes I don't think were easily relatable or visceral to the general public. They were all things that pissed off the longtime hardcore fanbase but not easily relatable outside of that group. However, DB answering customer complaint emails like a total jackass is something that anyone can understand/get pissed about.  It would reflect poorly on any business-person in any industry. Almost anyone has written an angry note to a business that they felt had failed them and no one would want to get that kind of snarky response in return.

You deserve credit for playing a major role in giving your team and players the opportunity to be lead by a better and more qualified AD. I may not like or cheer for your team, but I admit that after checking out the other B1G blog, you members here at MGo are, as a whole, are the best...and it hurts me to say that. Good luck with getting the right AD and coach...let's fire this rivalry back up ASAP. Both teams need to be playing for something during The Game, or the rivalry will continue to lose it's luster.

Shat's some shitty journalism by ESPN.  Makes it sound like the fans wrote caustic and condescending emails to Brandon when it was the opposite.
