ESPN Class rankings out
artificially propped up because of our numbers so far, but should have an excellent shot at a top 10 class.
but we're looking to take a fullback, and might take Eric Olson, who won't be a 4 star. But yeah, broadly agree: they should close with a number of top 250-ish guys and finish in the bottom half of the top 10.
I could be wrong, but I think Hoke will have Olson wait a little bit to see what guys like Banner and Simmons decide. I think this just because we have a chance with several top rated OL recruits.
but the way they handled the Wayne Morgan thing makes me less sure. Not sure this staff loves holding spots open for guys who won't decide until around signing day.
We will have to see how things shake out in terms of OL recruiting, but I agree with you for the most part. I get the feeling that OL recruiting might be different, but that is just my opinion.
That's true. But I know for one Diamond has said that his decision timetable has moved up, so maybe if / when Magnuson decides that could push some of the other guys to decide. But of course it could go down several different ways.
I thought that as well at first, but we are about where the others are (numbers-wise) who are around us. We have a few more than some, and a few fewer than others. Our #s are not driving this.
Man, I thought Michigan's recruiting class was awesome but holy crap, Texas is unbelievable (and yes I know Texas gets to recruit almost exclusively in arguably the best high school football state in the country but still)
yeah one 5* and sixteen 4* is pretty absurd
They get to hand pick through Texas and give the other schools the left overs.
Will drop down as other classes get the same # of commits as well. This is awesome for Michigan. This class equals our class from last year already according to our Scout standings. I wonder where it will rank with other past classes of ours.
Well not really. If you go through the other top 10 classes they're around where Michigan is in number of commits. If Michigan gets Magnuson, Diamond, and a couple others I think in the end Michigan should still be around the top 10 mark. Which considering the last 3 years is a hell of a recruiting job by Hoke and Co.
Damn.
As long as we don't have a complete and utter collapse a la 2008 on the field, we should really be able to reel in a special class this year.
Based on Scouts Ranking Formula, two more four star commits will give us as many "points" as we had last year......and then it just keeps getting better!!!
tSIO not in the top fifteen....Ha
... poor Brutus.
on the premis that Fickell remains the Head Coach and the punishment for TSIO is mild. Neither will be happening, even in the buckeyes wildest dreams. He may be loyal, but he's not stupid. If he ever wants to go pro he'll be better off playing under one Head Coach instead of 2 or 3 in Columbus. Look for him to ultimately commit elsewhere.
I expected higher but I will take 6th, I thought we would have had more 150 guys.
Eh I think 6th is about right. But I will agree with you in that I also thought we would have a few more top 150 guys. But looking at it, some of them are just outside of it, like Ross.
And Funchess
I know Magnuson isnt commited yet but they have him pretty low.
You know that Magnuson has the same grade as everyone just mentioned right?
Yes, I just expected it too be a lil higher after watching his tape. I believe it was you that made some points about him and I went back and watched it a few times.
But as mentioned in the thread Wed (I think it was Wed), still a 4*, rated 80. He's down the list as the #24 OT, but there are just a boatload of top-flight OTs this year.
Scout, Rivals, and 247 have higher opinions, and they all point to an elite prospect.
but our consesus class will be better than our ESPN class. Rivals and Scout and 247 list many of our prospects waaay higher than ESPN does. They don't factor in any combine performances at ESPN, just pure highlight film. Doesn't make sense to me because if your going to rate kids head to head then you could at least watch them compete head to head at a camp.
Is it suprising that Ross isn't in the Top 150 to anyone else?
I guess it is surprising as fans, but we have a tendency to overrate players that are highly interested in our school. I'm sure if we have 2 inches taller he would be a top150 guy. All the gurus say that size might be a concern for him.
I thought we'd sit higher (maybe 4th) but I'm an eternal optimist. I think that if the majority of our remaing commits are 4 star we come in around top ten....just inside of it or real close. Geh Blau.....I agree Ross ranked much better on Scout and Rivals and his tape looks great
The question is will Vandy stay in the top 25? Also no sparty in top 25.
Michigan will definitely finish in the top 5.
Texas is overrated every year in recruiting.
