ESPN and their tear jerking segments
Did anyone just see the Sergio Kindle piece on CFBL? Damn you espn for producing segments every couple of weeks that have me fighting back tears. To sum it up quickly, Kindle decided on Texas after a kid from his high school's JV squad died from post op complications, huge UT fan, and the dead kids parents have become Kindle's parental figures. I feel like my gf watching The Notebook.

Wait until they do a segment about Adam James being locked in a closet. The horror!!!

Can't be much worse than R Kelly's Trapped in a Closet.

Which is also worse than Tom Cruise's Trapped in a Closet.

ESPN did a terrific job with the Elliot Mealer story. If you havent seen it, I suggest you watch it as soon as possible.

My wife just asked me why my nose was sweating. I told her to turn down the thermostat.

I love these pieces, does anyone know where I can find these videos online?

It's not crying, its called nose sweat. ESPN always has some emotional pieces. I got some serious nose sweat the other day when they talked about the Va. Tech and Lance Armstrong. During the Elliott Mealer story, I got real bad nose sweat. If you want to have a serious man cry, watch the story of Rick and Dick Hoyt. It will have you crying like a little baby.

ESPN's best thing are these stories and 30 for 30. Other than coverage (not commentating) for some games, the rest of it is terrible.

Here is the Kindle piece.

... almost had a little nose sweat at about 2:40 left in the piece. Old men with nose sweat usually creates a similar response from me.

Yeah, yeah. Bet you didn't tear up while watching Old Yeller the first time either.

Another tear jerker! Damn you ESPN!!!

The Jake Olsen story was decent the first time, but with the frequency they have played it at bowl game halftimes, it's getting a bit ridiculous.
I stopped watching anything but live televised sports on ESPN a year ago. One of the best decisions ever.

My heart turned to stone as soon as I heard it was about USC. Didn't watch.

Most ESPN segments leave me wanting to jerk my eyes out of my head.

Way to go Sergio! Way to go family!
Uh no. Sorry.
Sergio obviously learned a lot from those parents, his friend, and the DUI he got as a soph. After the DUI and all of those words of wisdom, when he crashed his car into the living room of an apartment at 2 AM, he had the sense of mind to go home and sleep it off instead of, you know, reporting it to the police or the people who lived in the building or go to a hospital. No charges. No suspension.
Where's the ESPN special about that?
January 4th, 2010 at 7:31 PM ^
... ESPN doesn't like facts, they like tearjerkers. They are not a news org, they are an entertainment channel.

I don't like to watch stuff like that for obvious reasons, which was why I completely blindsided when I tuned into an eppy of Real Sports just as they started their piece on Ernie Harwell. I was working late and missed the game in which they gave him his send off, so after they showed it on the segment I had a lump in my throat the side of a baseball. Damn it all sideways! The sound of his voice in my head is making the nose sweat come.
(In a quavering voice): "I'm a little verklempt! Toolk amongst ya'selves....I'll give you a topic. The Buckeyes...they're neither bucks nor eyes...discuss."
