Eric Magnuson vs Kyle Murphy game film

Submitted by 74polSKA on

Scott Kennedy's Tweets on the game against San Clemente were mentioned by Ace here, but I just read the recap on Scout too.  There's also game film of Eric in action against Murphy.  I'm not an expert breaking down x's and o's but I know alot of our MGoBloggers are.  Not a great camera angle, but knock yourselves out.  Go Blue.

Edit:  Sorry, I don't know how to embed from Scout, if it's even possible.

Magnusson is the OL recruit I am most excited about in terms of long term potential, but I think Kalis will be more of a chance at starting early. (not only because we lose interior guys but because I think Kalis is more developed physically)

If you look at him, he looks like he could put on 30-40 lbs and still be in good shape. Pumped to see what he does.

I live in Laguna Beach and went to the game on Friday to see Magnuson in action. I know it's only HS ball but he was a man among boys. He looked dominant. The rest of his team is hot trash, however. San Clemente 's QB is a beast too. He must be D1 bound. All in all, very excited for the arrival of KM.

I think he was going against some tiny guys except for Murphy is thats who that equally large monster was in the black.  But from those highlights I think Magnuson looks Tremendous!

He looks alright. I wish he drove his men back further instead of just sealing them off. I remember playing center and all I was physically able to do was seal people off and create a lane. I did this because I was way undersized and could not physically dominate my opponents. He has the size, I want to see him use it more and impose his will on people like Taylor Lewan and Michael Ore did. His pass blocking is great though. He made it all look effortless.

Looks like the opposing coach moved Kyle Murphy inside later in the film.  From the clips, it looked like Magnuson was stoning him.

Agree, excluding the gratuitous pancaking of the DB coming on the blitz, you don't see the aggression a la Jake Long.  More like a technician, a la Joe Thomas.

And yes, waaaaaaaaaaaay to early to compare Magnuson to those guys.  Just commenting on style of play.  Jake is known as a run-blocking brawler, Thomas more of the technique guy.
