Its now reported that its an achilles injury, which likely means he's done for the year and won't be back doing much of anything until offseason OTAs.  Especially if its the variety where you can't put any weight at all on it.

Had one myself before and its a shitty injury with a long recovery.

EDIT: Although he's posted that everything is fine on Twitter, and is dancing in the car on Snapchat, so who the fuck knows.  Maybe it actually is an Achilles and he's just stoked he doesn't have to play for a shitty Lions team this season.

I gave that argument to my friends when discussing most cursed franchises, all Bills fans, and they said it doesn't matter since the Pistons used to be very good. I'm still pretty sure the Lions are beyond cursed though.

As long as the Ford Family owns the lions, they will suck.  They were and are responsible for what a lot of Lions fans called "50 years of poo" and counting.  They had Megatron and Stafford and blew that "window."  It sucks being a Lions fan.  I stared following sports as a kid one year after the last year they actually won an NFL Championship.  Ugh.

it's the Ford family's fault. My Dad disavowed the Lions after they ruined Billy Sims. He always said the Ford's knew the Silverdome would sell out no matter how terrible the team was so they just didn't care if it got better or not (this was in the late 80s). Ironically we lived in Cleveland at the time, and I ended up becoming a Browns fan. His plan to save me the sorrow of rooting for an awful NFL team kinda backfired. Coincidentally, he died in 1999 and got to avoid the crapshow that is the Browns 2.0

You know, this was exactly the sort of news that one needed to hear pulling into their driveway after a harrowing trip to Meijer....not.

They quoted the NFL Network report, which of course has no detail other than the fact that Ebron couldn't put pressure on that leg. Not a great way to roll into the preseason certainly.

Tim Twentyman (who I think still writes for the Detroit News) had the initial tweet about the injury and the fact that Ebron could not put pressure or weight on his right leg. NFL Network based their reports off of that tweet.

I don't think anyone knows anything else. We don't know if it's a sprained knee, a torn ACL, or if his leg is going to have to be amputated (although I would bet on #2 if those were my only options).

I am right there with you. Ruptured mine ten years ago today playing In a Gus Macker. About 3 weeks post surgery slipped in the shower, and tore all of the scar tissue apart. Hurt like hell, but was probably the best thing for me. If he can get past the psychological part (I haven't played basketball since), he will be ok.

This is the NFL...almost every team gets an injury like this...sucks, but this isn't pre-ordained bc the Lions aren't historically good/cursed...

I was pessimistic before, but now I have full confidence that the Lions will be drafting in the top five next year. This team is going to suck. They have a bunch of small receivers, bad tight ends, a questionably offensive line, and mediocre running backs. The defense received very little help in the draft and in free agency. 5-11. Book it.

Sad to see Ebron going down, but I didn't expect much from him this year.  And that's based on his previous two years - color me unimpressed.  That said, he was still the starter and that injury sucks as much for him personally as it does for the Lions.  I don't wish injury on anyone, so good luck to him fighting his way back.
