Enroll Early: Do we know who?

Submitted by Smitty D on

Who exactly is enrolling early? I know Pace and Jerald Robinson are, and Devin Gardner is not. Anybody else?

this is a great, great group. too many people have cooled on them because they've been committed for so long.

miller, jackson, m-rob - all offered by florida.
white - offered by lsu.
robinson and pace - an impressive list of offers.
hopkins - some big ones, including stanford.

That is a good list of EE's. Lets hope Barwis can work his magic and these guys can start bulking up and learing the system. Pace could be a solid back up for Molk and be a stud in a few years at center. Obviously M. Rob can have a huge impact come fall.

I think we greatly over value what Barwis can accomplish. IDK, but I have to think that other S&C programs are similar to ours. I am not stating that Barwis does not give us an advantage, he might, but other schools are physically developing their players as well.

I don't think we over-value Barwis. It has become pretty clear that he runs one of the top S&C programs in the country. What we may be guilty of is hyping him the program up in a way that it seems like it is by far "the greatest program ever."

IME, we are not over-valuing Barwis's program, it is a massive improvement from where we were 3 years ago, we are just under-valuing all of the other good S&C programs.

I think another factor, maybe over looked a bit, is the fact that Barwis runs a relatively different kind of S & E program than Michigan and the Big Ten is use to. I would not say that Barwis is over-rated at all, i am assuming we know very little of what the S & E program really entails. From what i have heard from players, in interviews, they all said Barwis runs a completely different program than we had under Carr and i think this takes a transition periods much like the offense and the defense will require. If anyone has any insight as to how Barwis runs his program, i would be interested in hearing about it.

Barwis runs a great program and i think the results will really show on the field in the next few seasons with our young team developing into all around great athletes.

He runs a completely different program than UM had under Gittleson.

We also see what we believe to be a paradigm shift at UM toward smaller and faster athletes IIRC.

My very limited understanding is an emphasis on core strength and strengthening fast-twitch muscles (the muscles for speed and explosiveness). And toss in general overall conditioning that we hope is reflected in being in better shape later in the game (all the running).

This type of program has been popular outside the Big Ten for nearly a decade now.

I don't dispute any of what you all are saying, but I will stick by my original statement. Relatively speaking the Barwis advantage is overrated on this blog. I doubt Tressel, Dantonio, Paterno, are quite as worked up about Barwis, as the posters on this blog.

I can't wait to see how much the EEs improve under Coach Rod's and Barwis' tutelage in the Spring. 2010 is going to be a great year for Michigan football!
