Sometimes I secretly think that MSU is paid money by Walmart to promote their company through the use of buzz marketing.  I see MSU fans bring up "Walmart" all the freaking time in football conversations at such random times, that I basically have to stop and think "Wait wait wait, wait, what, what the hell does Walmart have to do with any of this?"  ...and the sad thing is, most Spartan fans still think it's one of the coolest "insults" of all time.

I'll also this say.  MSU is a really good school.  But I kind of find it interesting that MSU fans call UM fans arrogant all the time, yet they are the ones that seem to love putting down people that went to other academic instituitions in the state of Michigan (who are UM fans) besides MSU or UM.  They seem to not realize that there are many other good colleges/universities in the state besides just UM and MSU.  I guess it's just really ignorant to me.  Just like at the Forbe's top college each year least to see them ranked right up there with UM and MSU.

I attend CMU and this is just a dumb article from our lack luster newspaper.  They will write anything to try and get any attention.

There are some students who will wear green, but the majority of student's will be supporting CMU.  The main issue is the past two years CMU won 6 games combined, coming off a year where we went 12-1.

This has led attendance to go down, along with several Thursday night games, when a lot of students have night classes to avoid Friday classes.

It sucks that it is this way, but alot of student's (myself included) are very fairweather towards the football team, because we went from being a team good enough to beat MSU in East Lansing to a team poor enough to struggle with Southeast Missouri State.

I think because our downsing has coincided with MSU's upswing some students have decided to support MSU, but it is not like the article makes it seems.  A very high percentage (90-95%) of CMU and Mount Pleasant at large are pulling for the Chippewas.

I really just read this article?

“State will win because they are a Big Ten team and we are a MAC team, so their program is better,” said Traverse City junior Andrew Zelinski.

Andrew....stay in school.

None of this will matter when CMU shocks the world... again. Fire up Chips!

(For the record, I went to UM but spent a lot of time at Central during the Dan LeFevour years. They were a fun team to watch)

This is part of the "Celebrate the State" series MSU is doing with CMU, EMU, and WMU.

MSU is getting 3 visits from each team over the next 12-ish (I believe) years and in exchange, MSU will visit each of their stadiums once.  Most major conference teams don't venture outside of their stadiums much for non-conference games unless they're playing another "big" team--and even then, it's usually in some sort of "neutral" site.

Furthermore, usually the visiting team gets part of the gate, but MSU is letting CMU/EMU/WMU keep 100% of the gate for their home games.  The CMU AD called this game "the biggest event in Mount Pleasant history," and they actually added capacity to their stadium just for this game.

There are many things you could criticize about MSU, but scheduling a true away game at Central Michigan isn't one of them...

anything about what the MAC schools are netting for the home games instead of State paying them a fee to come for a one-off in EL?

I seem to remember some discussion around here about EMU not being able to afford a home and home with Michigan, since their payout is usually bigger than what they earn for a home game.

What? All I'm saying is if it didn't make financial sense for EMU to schedule a home-and-home with Michigan, but it does make sense for them to schedule a home-and-home with MSU, then that might be the factor that makes it "worth it."

Or maybe they get more from the gate at Michigan than at MSU since your stadium fits 30k more than Spartan Stadium.

Or maybe it's a combination of both things.

Happy?

Yeah transferring from Michigan to central I guess seeing the state clothes bugs me even more, and while Michigan will always be the school I support the strongest, I don't think I could wear maize and blue to my own school's game if that's who we were playing. Although I did bring it down to el last Friday for the Boise game.

Seriously, don't get your hopes up.  I mean, when has Sparty's behavior been governed by logic?  And even when it has (e.g. Dantonio telling his team to shut up on the Twitters over the weekend) do you really think it is going to last?
