The end of the season is here.

No. We didn't win the big title.
No. We aren't national champions.

But finally, we're looking at an off season in which we can sit around and ask the serious question:

WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE ARE WE GONNA DO NEXT YEAR?

Have a great off season, bloggers. Can't wait to watch those winged helmets burst out of the tunnel on August 31st.

Any other night, maybe this fits better into the Pasadena thread, but you know what? ND got curbstomped, MBB is #2 (and I'll be at the Nebraska game), and I'm enjoying one last night of getting hammered with the girlfriend before (very minor) surgery and starting up grad school.

Despite three reminders in the original post here, life is good at the moment, MGoBoard. Let's talk about this coming season, other sports in season, and whatever the hell else sounds fun tonight.

Thank the lord the Wings are back...jacked up for that.  Long layoff only will help the older Wings.  Men's basketball will hold us off for a while, they are too good to not keep us glued to our TVs when they play.

Yes the off-season sucks but I think we all know what type of players we have/are coming and are pretty pumped up about it.

I'll grant you there are different phases. Now, an off-season is another story, of course. We had a couple of those recently.

This may sound pessimistic, but watching Bama just makes me feel sad.... haha

I am sure we can have a great season next year, but damn, they are a whole different story.

Does this mean the return of random, no-holds barred OT offseason topic fiesta?

No rest for the wicked. We have basketball and 2014 football recruiting. I'm sure this board will be a hotbed of activity on just the recruiting alone. I'm not going anywhere.

Being as diverse and knowledgeable a community as it is, I don't think that we every actually run out of football-related topics around here between all the  review, analysis and speculation about the future (whether that comes in the form of a recruiting discussion or "How Will  We Fare?" thread). As the OP touches on though, it will be the speculation that might be the most interesting, because the future really is bright for the Wolverines.

Others have mentioned this, but we will likely be talking basketball well into spring, and then between this and the Spring Game, August 31st hopefully won't seem like quite as far off by then.

Did anyone else notice the photographer get forearm-shivered by Kelly and the cop just before the "handshake" last night?

I watched it about 50 times in slow mo, and could NOT stop laughing.

Thanks in advance.

I feel like I spend all year waiting for Michigan football and then in a flash it is gone. No matter how bad I try to hold on to it it's always gone much too fast. Well at least we have the best Michigan basketball team in many years to watch.

a month away from signing day! That could be fun this year right? I mean, in NCAA 13, I have more fun recruiting in the off season then I do easily winning the national championship every damn year. So we should embrace the race for the top recruits left on our board. Here's to not letting this season end until we want it to!

I think the real question is how much damage will the Maze-n-Blue in 2014? That is when many are picking them to be really good.

Me my self I'm looking forward to a nice spring of Michigan baseball. Coach Erik Bakich  is a great get for U ofM! He's rated aas a top 10 coach in the country and he's not even 40 yrs old.

I have longed wanted Michigan baseball to be the cream of the crop in the Big and they will be very soon!

I keep hearing that 2014 is supposed to be great year for us, but the schedule gets harder again because of our stupid home and away set up.  We have to play at ND, at Nebraska and at Ohio that year.  2015 shapes up much nicer with all those being home games and our away games are replaced by at Utah, at MSU and at Northwestern.

Here's to hoping for an offseason of big recruits commiting early like last year.  It may take a littler longer than any of us want, but our future is bright as we develop these guys in the trenches, then pick up some skill players to make plays around them.

spring ball and pre-season for news - and it's more important for the long haul.

Hopefully we have 2-3 recruiting wins before NSD and about 1 per week in Feb/Mar so I can avoid hibernation.

Hopefully the last month of recruiting is exciting for Michigan(in a great way).  However, with how well the Bball team is doing, I think the offseason may not be as bad as previous years.
