End of game taunting incident

Submitted by Wolvmarine on

Did anyone else hear what happened at the end of the game exactly?  I turned on the Hoke postgame interview via the radio and caught the tail end of the discussion.  Apparently they said Taylor Lewan was very pissed and upset.

Personal foul penalties are nothing compared to a win over Michigan.  They punched us in the mouth on every play and dared us to punch back.  We didn't.  Offensive line was steamrolled and their supposedly tattered offensive line took it to us.  Disgusting.

EDIT:  Meant as response to Jon Benke above.

I'm going back from the ledge and taking the long view wherein our recruiting will continue to get better (far better than Sparty's) and that the Mattison effect will continue in time (we had the ball down 7 before the pick 6 bs...). I hope that Taylor Lewan remembers this outcome and thinks about it daily for about a year.

Our defense, as long as the guys coming in live up to their potential, is going to be down right filthy.  T-Rich and Countess playing side by side with Wilson laying the boom at safety will make QBs have nightmares.  And Pipkins/Beyer(unless he sticks at LB)/Brown/Black/Wormley/Strobel/Ojemudia/Godin/Ash provide quality depth on the Dline.  And do we even need to talk about the haul at LB coming in to go along with Ryan/Gordon/Demens/Morgan?  Stone, Ringer, Ross, Boldin are going to be studs with the coaching they're going to get.  So yeah, I'm not too worried about this little Sparty party going on, as we're going to see big improvements with the big improvements in recruiting, where as MSU will remain pretty much on the same level now.

As for offense, we need to worry about life after Molk.  The tackles are stacked now with Magnuson and KK coming into the fold.  Question is, who will start, and who will play behind Lewan for a couple year (unless they feel Schofield can do the job)?

State always has been and always will be classless.  This game is their existance and they resent the fact that historically and traditionally OSU and ND represent bigger rivalries.  This will not happen next year.  And Despite a now 4 year streak, MSU still can't out recruit Michigan.

indy, I totally agree. The taunting incident has no purpose even being a thread on this board. I am more concerned about our play then if the other team "taunted" me or "played dirty". Why is it that when we lose, that this kinda crap comes up? Grow up. Let MSU deal with these problems.

Im not one for whining, and im SURE, Michigan players like Molk and Lewan arent either

spartans followed and taunted the Wolverines as they walked towards the end zone tunnel. The spartans probably got as deep asthe 15 yard line with this. Totally bush. Something one would see in the SEC. This was a significant event and one you won't hear the last of. Karma will be brutal towards msu next week when they play Wiscy.

I'm more concerned about our play, too.

That being said, when the other team takes 4 (?) personal foul penalties, 3 (?) of which are late hits to our quarterback, and 1 of which knocks him out of the game, I get pissed off.  When the last touchdown they scored to make it 28-14 should have been negated due to taunting before the player got to the endzone, I get pissed off.

The Spartans are a bunch of bush league assholes and yes, we could have played better, but it's still a relevant topic.

If Taylor Lewan focused his energy on his game, which generally stunk today.

The one thing that today's game confirmed in my mind is the their dufus prick coach either (1) cannot control his players on the field or on campus, or (2) actually coaches them to play dirty.

And what is he so pissed off at?  You look at his face and think of a guy who never got laid and is therefore pissed at the world.

the issue is that they were making dirty plays and seemed to be deliberately trying to injure Denard (grabbing his facemask and twisting after a late hit) and then the roughing the passer. I'm sure there were more I didn't see. That shouldn't be tolerated at all. Yep, we lost, and our play wasn't that great, and I have no issue with a clean loss. But when someone tries to deliberately injure a player from the other team, they should be called out, and if their coach doesn't put a stop to it (sits them for one play and then puts them back in), then the league should step in and start vacating wins or penalizing the team. Taunting and classless stuff like that is silly and poor sportsmanship, but the real concern is trying to injure other players. That's not sports, it’s assault.
