That's Al Borges' wife?  Not sure how old Al is but he is certainly a lot oder than 41 (her age).  This is obviously no Layla Kiffen, but Al Borges who, let's just say may not be the most attractive man in the world, has a pretty hot, much younger wife?

But, hey, her apparently dazed and rather satisfied/tuckered-out expression very well might explain certain tendencies in respect of our offense and its playcalling. Perhaps Coach Al has been making his adjustments, certain night-time and morning positional adjustments, which most of us would rather not picture. Oh my eyes.

That would be -10,000 negbangs, yesiree Bob. Acknowledged and accepted, I will not be staying in Wolverine Valhalla with this poisoned soul.

English's remark about not wanting kids from female-headed households always bothered me, especially at a place like EMU where you can expect to be recruiting a lot players from poor urban neighborhoods.  I guess I would have a lot more sympathy for English if I felt like he was giving chances to a lot of hard-luck kids, since you're not going to win much at EMU anwyay.  But ever since that remark I've basically been like "to hell with Ron English."

Assuming the EMU "braintrust" stops listening to Lloyd Carr the first call they should make is to Dino Babers at Eastern Illinois. The guy is in his 2nd year at the FCS school and has them ranked #2 in the entire division. He also runs a fun offense that will put butts in seats.

What offense you ask? Baylor's offense I answer. He was the receivers coach under Art Briles for a couple of seasons. And he's taken the fun to EIU. And last, but (unfortunately) not least, Dino is black. Yeah I know. A guy named Dino Babers is black? Its true. If EMU gets a brain and hires Babers EMU will have a bigger electricity bill because the scoreboard will go crazypants.

It's not his fault but taking the job from the start was a terrible idea. Emu has never been somewhat competitive not have they ever been able to get fans to the game. Add that to some of the worst facilities in the country and u have a program that will always be at the bottom. Whoever takes that job next is an idiot especially considering they don't even pay that much. Hopefully he gets a d coordinator job and tries his luck again in 4-5 years

You know how many coaches "dream" it is to be a head coach.  It's a hard thing to turn down.  All english had to do was be below average for 5 years, and he had a contract extention waiting for him.  He's average for 5years, and shoot, they damn near might build a statue for him.  He failed so badly, because he sucked, and sucked badly.  Always seemed that he coached to stay close and not to win, and he even failed at staying close.  He is up there with Mike stock as worst EMU coach ever.

Craziest thing is that they are the only school in the Mac other than umass (only second season in the conference) that hasn't been to a bowl game since joining the Mac.

I don't understand why everyone remembers English wih such fondness. He is not a good coach. He couldn't stop a running QB if his life depended on it. Who was the DC for app state? Ron English.

In 2006 we had a ridiculous front 7 but AGAIN couldn't stop a mobile QB (Troy Smith) or even a non-mobile QB, when we got bombed by USC in the Rose Bowl.  And don't forget the beat down from Oregon in 2007.  And don't forget that in 2006 he inherited a bunch of future NFLers on that line.

He couldn't OSU to under 39 had some crappy linebacker covering OSUs future NFL wide receivers.  He is responsible for the worst loss in the history of the program.  Let that sink in.

That man didn't have it and, again, I don't understand why anyone remembers him as anything other than a failure.  Sure, the first 11 games of 2006 were fun, but when we finally played some real competition, we were exposed like woah.

EDIT: future NFLers in that front seven.

Never forget Ron English's "deer in headlights" expression on the sideline anytime we faced a mobile qb. His defenses did well against average to below average offenses but got shredded against good competition, albeit with SEVERAL NFL players. He did not make solid adjustments IMO either. I thought he took advantage of several great players, he had his moments but in general I felt he was over his head as a d-coordinator at a d-1 school.

Feel bad for Coach Ron but I expected big(ger) things from that lot considering the 6-6 mark last season. Unless they lost a lot, they've underachieved greatly. Hope he catches on somewhere as a coordinator or something. Really like him.
