They've poorly rated our QB's in the past which was biased Michigan hating BS. But, now they're freaking awesome! I love Trent DIlfer.

but he is usually pretty good at HS QB evaluation. He tends to find guys to pick on or elevate based on....?....but he is usually on target. I remember him being enamored with Winston from a play and leadership standpoint. Sure, he was a top QB recruit but he was saying back then what NFL scouts were saying during the draft evaluations. I could name a few more he really nailed and they weren't top recruits at the time. With Morris he basically challenged the hype around him and he was right. He said he loved him arm but often spoke about how he needs to have another pitch other than fastball. He didn't think he had a very high QB IQ, etc. He has time to prove him wrong but he's been accurate so far. Finally, I could name just as many that he was dead wrong about in both directions so I listen to his opinion but I understand that Dilfer loves himself to the point of extreme hyperbole.

Is that an official list or that just a ranking that that site put out? Because that would make no sense for them to have Peters be the 16th finalist invited, but rank him 2nd overall.

All of this is kind of subjective. Michigan wasn't chasing Kirk Cousins either. I dislike Sparty but I can't be dismissive of their ability to develop quarterbacks. Obviously, Harbaugh has a better record of identification and development.

It will all sort itself out on the field.

I do feel kind of uncomfortable criticizing a kid who decided Michigan wasn't for him when some site ranks our new guy ahead of him. How Sparty that.

Not really development, but Harbaugh also identified Taysom Hill while he was at Stanford (he originally committed but did not sign with Stanford because they didn't allow recruits to enroll until June). Hill is the current BYU QB and was on Heisman watch last season before he broke his leg. I'm not sure if he's recovered yet, but if he has, it'll be interesting to see him against Harbaugh when we play BYU this year.

He was a backup qb for BYU for three years before transfering to San Diego after realizing that he wouldn't get any playing time at BYU.

He had 27 completed passes for 217 yards at BYU.  Total.

Kid transferred to San Diego and ended up a FA with the Detroit Lions after one year with Harbaugh.  Didn't pan out in the NFL.  Still got to try out for the NFL post Harbaugh.

As far as better goes, no idea.  Harbaugh, however, does have a proven track record.

They may not be elite athletes individually, but both of them were/are excellent game managers. That works for MSU since they rely more on the running game opening up the passing game for the offense. Its essentially the same philosophy Alabama runs. None of the QBs under Saban have been good athletes, but they all knew how to manage the game and run Alabama's system.

MSU has a couple of quarterbacks such as Terry and Lewerke who are more likely to compete for a starting position than DeWeaver, so he'll likely get time to grow and develop in Dantonio's system as well.

Yet Cousins has more NFL reps in his currently short NFL career than every Michigan QB in the last 20 yrs minus a constantly struggling Henne and, well, Brady. I think Cousins has at least proven himself to be a pretty dang good QB with Cook yet to get his chance. Just to clarify, I dislike State as much as the next UM fan.

Hoyer did not get jobbed in Cleveland. I followed the hope that surrounded his tenure in Cleveland and, bottom line, while he seems like a really good guy, a decent citizen a good father/parent and team representative he was just not that goot at quarterbacking and was injury prone.

My point was that he's in the NFL and is actually playing snaps. There were a few times even I thought of picking him up off waivers for my fantasy team because he was putting up pretty decent numbers while he was starting. If he wasn't a good quarterback, he wouldn't be in the NFL at all. Plenty of good college quarterbacks don't make it/transition to the NFL. He's no worse than Chad Henne at this point, and I don't think we would say that Chad Henne was a bad college quarterback. I just feel that sometimes our homerism gets the best of us at times.

Tell us something we don't already know. RR didn't bring in prostyle qbs, Brady Hoke couldn't coach offense, Henne started for all 4 years from 2004-2007 and became a NFL qb and Tom Brady entered in 2000 or 2001 so in the end it's not surprising that we only have 2 NFL qbs in that time.

OK so I made an idiot statement that I questioned prior to posting anyway mostly because of the "RR" QB controversy and the fact that I knew getting most UM fans in a penis measuring contest will never go well.

Cousins was not a bad college quarterback. That is the only statement I'm trying to make. If he was bad, he wouldn't have NFL starts to his name THREE YEARS INTO HIS PRO CAREER even if there wasn't much ahead/behind him. Bad quarterbacks also don't get drafted in the fourth round.

I'm done talking now. Neg away/Harbaugh.
