Eleven Warriors post on Hoke

Submitted by FrankMurphy on

Ramzy just put up an interesting piece on Hoke over at Eleven Warriors. He basically argues that the Hoke-led resurgance is good for The Game and that Buckeye fans shouldn't take pleasure in or hope for a repeat of the Rich Rod era. Not exactly an earth-shattering argument, I know, but interesting nonetheless. I generally enjoy reading Ramzy's perspective on The Game and Ohio State in general.

The comments are still pretty sparse, but I'm sure they'll fill up with plenty of Buckeye stereotype-reinforcing material in short order. Here's my favorite so far:

Beating AACC never gets old. Even during the Dick rod years it was fun. It was like watching the Keystone Cops play foozball. The "Ohio" thing is retarded on many levels and their troglodite fan base mimmicking it is retardeder. I hope John Simon wears Detards dreds on top of his helmet like a hat after skalping him this year. Flounder can have his one victory, I'm sure Urbz won't let him get another for some time.

That's three "retard" references, one penis reference, one "troglodite" [sic] reference, and one laughably contrived acronym, in case you're counting.

Funny thing is you would never see a comment like that on this blog, all the jabs are witty and clever.  At times people go too far, but its never this vulgar middle school-ish type.  Shows the difference in character between people here and down there.  However, good post by Ramzy, at least someone has some sense to em.

I would never come on this blog and see something like Cindy Crosby because that is just too far below the intellegence of Michigan fans. We are far more clever than that and don't participate in this middle-school like name calling and such.

You can neg my ass off or send me to bolivian or whatever, but the selfrighteous hypocritical bs I hear from some posters on this blog makes me wonder where the vast difference between the two fans bases is, because it isn't always evident.

In my (admittedly limited) experience reading Eleven Warriors, they seem to be pretty reasonable. They have a clear bias, but that’s the point. You’ll definitely find some idiot posters who post the sort of drivel that you quoted, but you can find that here as well. The majority of comments there seem to agree with Ramzy, so the comment you quoted should not be taken as their consensus. EW is no RCMB.

Please tell me someone called that guy out on their board.  I would hope that is too much even for them.  There's really no word to describe all that is wrong with it.

I think that referring to a top-15 school as a community college would embarrass me. Also, I'll never understand why Ohio gets so angry when we refer to them as Ohio... What has their band been spelling out on the field ever since we taught them the trick? What do the armpit dwellers spell out with their arms as they cheer their team on? And why are they upset that we won't refer to them by name when they say "that school up north" and the like? Ah, Ohio...

I thought the article was actually well written and, although it seems obvious to most of us, it probably comes as a bit of a revelation to many on that blog... the idea of respecting what Hoke has done and that a strong Michigan program is good for Ohio.

But I'll wait to read the comments... would like to keep my lunch down for a bit longer.

You know, I know I should be used to it by now. But I'm always appalled at the number of childish insults people on 11 Warriors use for Hoke. Stuff like Jabba, "he hasn't beaten Meyer in anything....except an eating contest", just reading their boards is enough to make me want to smash my head in.
