EJ Levenberry Announcing on Tuesday
That's not what he said. He said that FSU "might" hold the tie-breaker.
Mike Farrell is the one who broke this story and clearly has an in with the family. He has maintained FSU all along, and still now he is predicting FSU. I am trying to stay optimistic, but I think we should all be preparing for the worst here. I don't think he would put this out there unless he was certain especially given the amount of grief Michigan fans have given him. I think the only reason he hasn't made his prediction more defiinitive is to give Levenberry his moment on Tuesday.
I wish people would think I had special powers when I say things.
"MGoBlog Mod just said that Schlereth sucks. Must be true"
He is going to Michigan for sure then.
Does this ever get old?
but Leeeeeroy still cracks me up every time.
are you? I'm 47 and I knew that was WOW.
Edit: I've seen this at least a dozen times and it still cracks me up. Especially when, in the midst of the chaos and carnage he unleashes with his impetuous charge into the fray, his teammate yells "God damn it Leroy".
That was amazing.
This is precisely why I try to post this video whenever it fits into a thread. Everyone should see this at least 1,000 times.
I don't...it's just...I mean...and then they...that was real? I have no words for how awesome that was
If Farrell broke the news, I'm guessing FSU.
I wouldn't say that's true. The family likes to deal with only a single guy at each of the major recruiting sites, they won't even talk to Tom VH. So Farrell just happens to be the guy they talk to at Rivals so naturally he would be the one they tell such information to.
you are right, but farrell was the first on twitter. You know if he goes to FSU, the smuggness will never end.
In his last tweet, Farrell indicates that he does not know. He says that Michigan made up ground, but he thinks FSU in a squeaker . . .
Make of that what you will
because he got screwed in the rankings by ESPN and Scout. And don't get into an argument with me about this, Magnus
I think it was 247 that screwed him when they did a major update. Scout has him at 80th nationally, which is respectable.
He's all over the place. Rivals has him at #15, Scout has him at #80, 247 has him at #235, and ESPN has him as an unranked 4-star.
Huh. He spent a lot of time at FSU, but was more recently at UM (he was here for the spring game, right?). I guess this is good for us?
Is it possible Hoke told him that he needed to decide soon or Hoke would chase other LB prospects?
Doubtful as I don't see Hoke pressuring someone to commit. I also remember the discussion that it seemed that Hoke told Levenberry a spot would be saved for him but we were done recruiting other linebackers.
I don't see this as pressuring someone. Hoke is just being honest with him if he tells him "we really like you, but we're only taking one more LB and can't risk missing out on all of them, so the next to commit gets the spot."
Totally agreed that it would't be pressuring him, but I don't think that's what Hoke is saying in the first place.
As the poster above mentions, we would only take another LB if it was Levenberry. If he doesn't commit, we're done pursuing LBs as we have more pressing needs.
But do we know that? I know that's been reported to be the case, but it's not like we heard Hoke say it, and even if it was once the case, those things tend to change. Maybe the coaches have come across another LB or two that they like as much as EJ? Maybe they feel there will be more scholarships, and they'd like to take a 3rd LB no matter what.
This stuff is very fluid, and not all of the "facts" that get reported are 100% true.
Yeah that's a good point, my "facts" are not so much facts, just the feel I've been getting from reading the exact same sources as you.
The one thing that convinces me though is that Dorian Daniels and Anzalone were told to move on. Those are high caliber guys that we would have been lucky to have in any other year where LB wasn't so stocked.
Let's be honest here. You don't think Hoke pressures these kids to commit simply because he is our coach. He has strung together two amazing recruiting classes. Let's not pretend he doesn't know how to lean a little.
That's not a bad trait for a coach, especially one that seems to be so honestly caring about his players. He's still a head coach though, and even though he coaches at Michigan, his poop does not smell like roses nor does it shimmer like gold...
You have ruined my Friday. Next you'll be telling me the Easter Bunny isn't real.
Apparently several people were on this. Three posts and I was in the middle of creating a fourth haha. Here's hoping we land him.
I created this comment to say that I was going to post on this topic, but other people beat me to it. Awesome.
Well, he did say his visit was a 10 out of 10, so it's not like we're out of it, but he did just spend a week in Tallahasee.
Think about it. Why would he be announcing this early for FSU? Their class isn't filling up. It's got to be Michigan.
Goood point hope ur right
Would it really have killed you to say "you're"?
I upvote IORIGifs on sight.
This IS what technology was meant to be!
Didn't comment when I saw this monstrosity last night, but I was literally awakened at 3 a.m. with night terrors which could only have been the result of the many minutes I spent staring at this little abomination.
There are occasions when one is literally terrified by what they see on the internet---this is one of them.
Bro that's how we write here in Tennessee
I am surprised people know how to write at all in Tennessee. So with this stunning revelation I say ur alright.
I live in Nashville and not everyone is too lazy to include the extra three letters and the obligatory apostrophe. Just because you choose to look uneducated, don't group the rest of us in with you.
now you truly belong on mgoblog. Welcome to the gang!
Although FSU already has two LB's... so they may be filling up at LB...
He also said he was going to help recruit for his team, so yeah, Florida State still fits in there.
Maybe he is doing it out of respect for Michigan and Coach Hoke so they don't save a spot for him.
Michigan's class is full at LB but they've made it clear to him that they're holding a spot for him. Announcing this early has nothing to do with either class filling up. He's just seen everything he needs to see and is making a decision. Your optimism is commendable, but just be careful in setting yourself up for disappointment.
Whoa! Even though he just left us, I'm still not sure who this favors.
I feel pretty good about our chances. He said Michigan was the leader for a while, then went to FSU for a week and said they were back to even with Michigan. Then he comes back to Michigan, says it was a fantastic trip, and sets an announcement date... I just feel like if it was Florida State he would have taken more time to think it over since he liked Michigan so much both times he came. It would be a huge surprise if he chose FSU.
RIGHT BROTHER! HOKE STRIKES AGAIN,GO BLUE!!!
Your thought process..
My mind's telling me noooo...............................but my BODY, my BODY is telling me yeahahesssss
I can't believe more people aren't upvoting this.
at least 50/50 ......
we need a countdown clock, a levenberry liveblog, and preparations for the future posbang!
Buckleing up seems like the safe bet, then you are ready to go regadless of the decision. Lets keep the recruiting machine rollin Hoke & Co.
Serious question: how much importance have the Levenberrys placed on academics?
We'll know Tuesday.
In interviews they always say it's very high up on their list of priorities, but he's consistently maintained FSU and Michigan as the two leaders for a couple months now. I think the coaching staff is way more important to them than academics. He has an incredible father who just wants to do right by his son, I don't think they look at Florida State like I would as a Michigan grad. So to answer your implied question, no, I don't think that tips the hand one way or the other.
the last time I can remember that a kid was essentially down to UofM and FSU and said academics would be the most important factor, he chose FSU and Michigan fans mocked him fairly relentlessly.
Then he won a Rhodes Scholarship.
The thing is, unless you're going for the Rhodes specifically, you do deserve to be mocked for picking FSU on the basis of academics.
As it turns out, they have carved out something of a niche for themselves just in terms of preparing students for the scholarship. So if that's what Levenberry wants, FSU may be the place for him. But generally speaking, it is a subpar academic institution.
From what I recall, FSU took him on an extensive tour of their bio-medical labs, set him up for multiple days shadowing faculty in them, and laid out a program where he could quickly advance, over the course of 2 1/2 years, to doing graduate work in his chosen field. They tailored a specific academic program for him and showed him the roadmap whereby he could accomplish his academic and athletic goals, while we kind of rested on our academic reputation.
And I really doubt they tried to sell him on "we'll get you a rhodes."
I think they had 2-3 other Rhodes finalists before Rolle came on board, and had one more after he won his. My understanding is that they are specifically tailoring things to some athletes to compete for the award. Your answer is more specific, but I think both are complementary.
says it's definitely Michigan! But she did say she was surprised to see me.....
TTB's evaluation must have pushed him over the edge.
Exactly. Once you get compared to Obi Ezeh what else is there to wait for?
In that case, if he goes to FSU, we get to blame Magnus...or thank him if the kid doesn't pan out.
did not see this coming...
if he picks FSU, i hope the staff starts pushing hard for Michael Hutchings/ Peter Kalambayi/Alex Anzalone
If he commits who else is committing? Or are we getting 8 commits and closing up the class on Tuesday?
Levenberry goes to FSU, and in a shocker, Michael Hutchings commits to M, never having been to the midwest.
This starts the Cali stampede, where Joe Mathis and S'ua Cravens join up with Eddie Vanderdoes to make a strong Cali force for M . . .
It is no longer a surprise.
In Michigan's case, good things come to those who wait? Yes? Si? Ya?
If we pick Levenberry up. This class is just unreal.
I'd say (based upon what I've heard) I'd say Michigan is the safe bet. His father loves FSU, but EJ loves Michigan. His mother coming on the trip with him to Michigan is a damn good sign for Michigan.
I'd say (based upon what I am hoping for) I'd say I hope ur right.
FSU got the long visit, but the commit is coming right after Mrs. Levenberry visited. Which one should we give more weight to ?
I just had this debate with my wife on where my son should go to middle school.
The Mom always wins.
Farrell still thinks it's FSU, although he's less confident than he was. I know he uses the Homer Simpson makeup shotgun to predict recruits a lot of the time, but he's been adamant about this one for months.
Guess we'll see.
Been on a Simpsons kick lately and literally watched that episode a few hours ago. Well played, AAB. Well played.
RDT, wheres been the updates lately? Miss reading the info...
Really RDT, we need the inside scoop on whether the Michigan Marching Band will eventually make the trip to Dallas.
always good to get Mom on your side. I hope your right RDT. My F5 key will be getting a workout Tuesday.
The coaches turned away several highly regarded linebackers and yet kept Levenberry's offer on the table. I'd say there's a good chance the coaches knew what they were doing. Smart money is on Michigan.
They knew they were going to get Gedeon and were fine with 2 linebackers unless the third was Levenberry.
Yes, definitely a valid alternative hypothesis. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Wake me up on Tuesday after he announces Michigan.
Calling THE PARTY ROOM, paging THE PARTY ROOM...
Screw Magnus' scouting report, we finally get to figure out if this kid is any good based on his decision Tuesday. #homer
I expect him to be a blue chip recruit
I'd say we're a safe bet to land his services. The class is filling up quick with elite talent, and his Mom loves the school. Elite recruits want to play with other elite recruits.
Then again, anything can happen. I won't be surprised if he picks FSU either.
Starts with "i'd say we're a safe bet..." and ends with "I won't be suprpised if he pick FSU..."
I would bet that
1. Levenberry chooses Michigan
2. RDT is a michigan man
That would be quite the long con he's playing on us. He's been here going on 11 weeks. Think after we beat Bama he pulls a "gotcha"?
as long as he gives us his best scouting report just BEFORE the Alabama game . . .
He's ours. I'm posi
How do you know about Cravens and Fuller. I heard the reports on Cravens but I was wondering if you knew something we didn't. I know we made up a lot of ground on Fuller and are chances are much better than most think but 50/50?
(the 6th, maybe?) which does not bode well for UM since he hasn't visited, just was at USC, and can't do an official if he announces in June.
Time to hop off the Cravens train imo.
I don't understand why he doens't just make an account and announce on mgoblog. That would really save all of us a lot of trouble.
Levenberry is going blue. He is a fit at Michigan all the way. He will do great things at Michigan. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Seminole uniform...but I feel like Michigan is the best fit for him....and this is coming from someone who played there. Also, FSU may not be Michigan Academically but Fsu does have some great programs of study and routinely churns out rhode scholars so...it is NOT a school for the blind. I don't think Jimbo is pressing for EJ....and I think Michigan will give this kid an opportunity unparalleled in college football. This will be a great coup to upstage Ohio's big recruiting weekend. Go noles and Go blue!!
When did you play at FSU and why are you on this board? (That's not supposed to sound mean; I genuinely want to know your connection to Michigan).
Curious how a former Seminole DB ends up on MgoBlog with a "michigan man" handle. But in any case, welcome!
Yeah exactly. That's why I asked too.
prob not but whatevs
This site is the first thing I check in the am. It's probably something I should seek physician assistance for....
...but I imagine that there are some very good schools for the blind. I happen to know of an excellent school for the deaf. I believe the apt comparison would be MSU.
schools for the blind. it is where the major conferences, the NBA and the nhl recruit their refs.
At this point the UM Rivals site has a Levenberry announcement article on the front page, where the FSU site has no mention of it. While this seems a bit trivial, it has actually turned out to be a decent indicator in the past.
So Go Blue, young man!
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/GxL1uXwSrdU?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If he knows what place he wants to go, why wait?
Tuesday seems like a long time from now.
Myself and family are all from Detroit area...born and raised...except for 7 years in sarasota Florida back and forth. Went to Salem high school in Canton for first two years. Family crap forced me to move to sarasota where I graduated. Earned a couple academic schollies but enlisted in the Marines prior to my senior year. Got out of corps in 06...played basketball for USF for a semester..(didn't make travel...basically practice player...no scholly)...transferred to FSU which was my co-dream school along with Michigan. Grew up worshipping both athletic programs....particluarly the Michigan football team in the Big House. My grandfather aunt and uncle have worked a combined 70 years directly for the University of Michigan. Uncle works for the athletic dept directly currently and gives me the honor of sharing his press box passes lol. Walked on to Fsu in 08 and played two years. Cracked two deep briefly but only saw game action as a special teamer. I got a chance to play for the greatest coach ever in coach Bowden and would have transferred to Michigan if it weren't for him. All my academic schollies outside of VJ bill were all Florida state school specific so that was also a major factor. I'm a Michigan man in my heart. Never attended the university unfortunately....but have the utmost respect. Thats a book and I'm def not that important. I'm on this board because Michigan and FSu sports are pretty much my life.
Because it matches with the Marine Corps Times article about you and your collegiate number. Glad to have you amongst us and thank you for your service!
Thank you for your service michiganman14, you definitely sound like the personification of a Michigan Man.
That's just flat out impressive. Well done, Michiganman14.
I have lived inTallahasse for 24 years, but I'm from Michigan. I also live for Wolverines and Seminoles, but when it all boils down...I'm Michigan all the way. C'mon EJ ...GO BLUE!!
Thanks for your service. I appreciate anyone who serves our country in the military.
Wow. Your story is pretty amazing. I'm glad to have you on here and can actually share your affection for FSU.
I grew up in a very pro-Notre Dame part of Chicago in the "Catholics v. Convicts" era. I hated Miami almost as much as I hated SC, and so FSU became a favorite of mine since they also hated Miami lol. There aren't too many college venues where I really want to watch a football game, but I would LOVE to watch Chief Osceola ride in on Renegade and experience the gameday atmosphere at Doak Campbell.
Thanks for being so open about all of that. It is a really cool story, and I can actually say I like the Seminoles a little bit more as the result of your passion.
The great journey of Life.. Crazy journey but glad your a Michigan man.. Also for some reason I dont have hatred for FSU like I do for them damn Gators.. Love the CHOP
We're SOOO DUE here. After the Dunns and the Pryors and the other high profilers who came down to a 50/50 shot that we've lost, it's long overdue we get one of these drumroll, head to head recruiting wins. CMON EJ!!!!! BLUE BABY BLUE!
Mike Farrell is acknowledging that it's going to be close. I'm pretty sure this means we're a lot to get him now.
He was my secondary mate at FSU and a pretty good player. He had issues transferring his credits and Michigan only accepted a fraction of them....needless to aay Ohio accepted them all.
That's a pretty awesome video. I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around how someone who played for a D1 football team has dual fanship, but hey, those maize and blue colors run deep. If this is an elaborate trick, then you both succeeded in your very detailed attempt and failed at life for devoting so much time to deceiving a blog. I buy it. Good to have a knowledgeable poster on the board.
I buy it. Good to have you with us and thanks for your service.
great video and great story ricardo!
i was at the game when buckley took the INT to the house. my freshman year. i loved fsu coming up as you did, but when i got to AA, it was over for that.
thanks for your service and happy ot have you on here!
The polo proves it for me. Hope you stay active on the board, man.
I believed you from the beginning. Cool story and thank you for your service as well as for contributing to the blog
He is clearly telling the truth. His name is Michiganman14. Notice that he wore 14 in college. Unless he has had this planned since the day he joined he was going to mess with all of us on the EJ Levenberry commitment.
His last name seems appropriate for both someone in the military and for a DB.
I did get in trouble for wearing Michigan garb in the lockeroom my junior year Lmao. I love the hell out of Fsu football just as much....but Michigan is my home and family to me. It's what I identify with from a cultural standpoint like all of you. I will always be a seminole and have pride in my alma mater....but you cant take the Wolverine out of me. Go noles and go blue! And yes Terrel Buckley still teases me about that game in the Big House in 91....Lmao. I hope that they never play again...I would wear all black.
ugh. . .as a student I had the pleasure of attending Miami '88, MSU '90, Colorado '94, and FSU '91, and that FSU loss may have been the worst of all. . .such promise for that team (legitimately so), completely demolished by Buckley and Amp Lee.
I think I remember Coach Bowden's quote right--may have been from a post-game interview that I saw later that day. . .was a crazy lateral-throwback play that went for a TD. Whatever he called it, I vividly remember how happy he looked over it, sort of an "I can't believe we pulled it off either".
Didn't he fall out of the ESPN top 150? Hate to see him ruin our recruit average. lol.
if recruiting avgs meant anything ND would be a top 10 every year and boise state would be irrelevant.
they would definitely be irrelevant
I really don't have a prediction and it just might be silly for the rest of you to do the same without talking to the kid. We will find out on Tuesday.
Recruiting just isn't the same without baseless assumptions and guesses.
I think it will be Michigan. The academics, the two visits, the culture of Hoke (law enforecement, right?) and Levenberry's father in the same field, Hoke and Mattison shooting straight and expecting a lot. It all fits. However, I'm glad he's deciding, either way, next Tuesday.
- I don't think it is a bad choice to have, and really, don't think he can go wrong either way.
- And he isn't going to go to Florida, Ohio State, LSU, or Alabama.
- If he does go to Michigan, it allows the focus to go to WR, RB, & DL.
- It also is another head to head recruiting battle won with Ohio.
- It is perfect balance. With McCray at SAM, and Gedeon at WILL, Levenberry can be at MIKE.
- With Bolden on campus now, and Jenkins-Stone coming this summer, we have depth at MIKE. Demens will play this year, Bolden or Jenkins-Stone will start in 2013, allowing Levenberry to redshirt. Having this kind of depth and giving guys a year to acclimate and learn the schemes, etc., is critical to success.
- If he doesn't go to Michigan, it allows Mattison and Hoke to go to plan B.
- It is at least one piece of football news in the off season for mgobloggers.
The immediate future at MIKE post Demens?
I think probably, but it depends on Joe Bolden's development, and the development of the other young guys at Will (Pools, Ringer and Ross). We'll have a much better read on that after this fall. If Morgan has a good season, then I doubt he gets jumped at either spot.
I'm confident Michigan will have a great class.
But Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
I'd say we have a 50-50 chance.
So the next question is, IF we do land Levenberry, how does this affect the recruitment of all those Cass Tech LBs next year? No longer a favorable depth chart there. Could be a tough pull, especially for a guy like Drake whose already favoring MSU and Iowa. How good are those LBs supposed to be anyway?
The 2012 and 2013 LB recruiting classes were already quite competitive. Michigan is returning to the type of school where you don't come here for a free pass at a starting role. You need to be willing and able to compete with the country's best. If you can't handle that, go somewhere else. I think the Cass Tech kids will be game for competing.
The phrase "bird in hand" comes to mind.
I don't think those 2014 linebackers from Cass Tech are on the same level as Levenberry or many of the other guys we've been recruiting recently. Deon Drake might be the best of the bunch, but I think he might be a better running back than linebacker.
Ya, that's the impression I've gotten as well, which isn't to say we won't take one of them or that they can't get a lot better, but I don't think they'll be better than RJS. I think we'll absolutely end up with Damon Webb and beyond that it's hard to say with the Cass kids.
....or is it about time to get a few more offensive weapons?
Never can have too many good Oline, Dline, and LBs.
We have Fitz at RB along with Hayes, and Rawls and we're chasing downTy Isaac. We just brought in 2 big WRs in this years class with another for next and possibly Treadwell. Our O line will eventually be the best in the country, with Devin possibly calling signals for the next 2 years and Shane for a potential 3. I think we're doing pretty well. I'm more concerned with getting more run stuffers to go next to Ondre.
Last year's LB class
This year's LB class
Hopefully, the ghost of the LB play of RR's first year will be banished forever.
Maybe we should just play a 1-6-4. We'll have Ondre in the middle, then 6 LB's and the secondary
Friendly Buckeye fan here. Just wondering, how large do you all see your class being this year (2013)?
The number that's been thrown around by Sam Webb is 23
According to the roster, I think we have 19 spots opening up, but I am guessing the coaches have already projected some 5th years not coming back and possible attrition. We currently have 17 commits, and most recruiting sites are expecting us to take about 6-7 more players (2 DL, 1-2 WR, 0-1 RB, 0-1 LB, 0-1 DB).
Probably in the 22-23 range. There are 19 scholarships available right now, a couple of RS juniors who won't come back, and then you always have a couple players who transfer when they see younger players ahead of them.
I figure OSUs class will grow too. Some kids won't like their spot on the depth chart under the new staff and will leave before the season. Just hope they leave with a bit more class than players like Boren. I get the feeling Meyer practices are very similar to RR practices and we haven't heard a word from little Boren about family values.
I think OSU is sitting at 15 openings and with transfers/NFL Draft we expect anywhere from 18-20. We very well could have 15 shortly after the Spring game this weekend (we currently sit at 10). Thanks for all of your replies.
You're welcome here any time. Your civil tone and proper sentence structure would be a welcome break from 95% of the other rival fans on the board.
Also, down with Urban Meyer, something about tattoos, etc.
Damn mobile phone double posting!!!
"Friendly Buckeye" -- having a little trouble wrapping my head around that one. I suppose they could exist, but at this point I'd put the likeliehood between Loch Ness Monster and UFOs.
Why are some of you ripping FSU's academics? FSU was a school for girls until about 50-60 years ago. UF basically dominated everything in the state until FSU came along. Florida State now has a top law school, a very young medical school, and a killer liberal arts program. We are the only university in the country to have a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist as a faculty member. We've had a few Rhodes Scholars and we have a Nobel Prize-winning chemist on our faculty. I attended FSU and graduated in 2011 and I can tell you that 90% of my professors had attended Ivy League schools. I know FSU isn't on Michigan's standards--I blame a lot of this on the South and what we have to endure down here with terrible high schools--but FSU has come a long way.
I wish you guys the best this year, but the knocks on FSU's academics are a bit unfounded. FSU is a good school that has come a long way.
Brady Hoke, by the way, is doing an incredible job. It's nice to see Big Blue back. Hope you guys pulverize the Buckeyes for many years to come. But be warned that Urban Meyer is a snake. The guy will sell his soul to secure a commitment.
FSU is not a slouch by any means.
Actually, we are Big Blue... that was what M fans referred Michigan as, for decades, and tended to fade when IBM came along.
FSU is a fine school, and is probably better than 90%+ of the schools you primarily recruit against (I'm looking in your direction, entire-SEC-minus-Vandy). But Michigan is generally seen as a bit above FSU on the academic ladder, so wherever fans perceive an advantage, they'll exaggerate it to cartoonish proportions. Plus, we're arrogant snobs. Hell, Notre Dame fans make fun of US as a clown college safety school, and an OSU blog has taken to calling us Ann Arbor Community College. But for those who claim FSU isn't a great school, I apologize.
But it could be worse... Michigan State and Ohio State are fairly decent schools in the grand scheme of things, and we treat them like academic neandertals (though the cooler pooping didn't help matters).
(Also, "Big Blue" is Kentucky. Or IBM. We prefer not to go by that particular moniker)
You may edge us out slightly in academics, but please don't put us in the same bracket as Michigan State, thank you.
Sincerely, Ohio State.
The cooler pooping. It has not done great things for your university.
Ranking aren't everything, but they ain't (sic) nothing. You do edge out Sparty.
Ohio math -- #28 slightly edges out #55. But #55 is way better than than #71.
No one said way better, but in the same way as UM is looked at as a better school than Ohio State, they're regarded as a better school than MSU. But all the Big Ten schools (minus Nebraska...?) are obviously quality educations, and that's good for everyone.
...say "way better"?
They should have...
Class of '91
Florida State does not have a top law school.
Also, no one should go to law school.
Something happened in Tallahassee - maybe it was the weather, the women, the vibe - but moving up his decision suggests FSU since they only have one LB slot left as well (and we said we'd save one for him essentially until NSD). I would bet that his parents prefer Michigan but EJ somehow favors FSU... The O'Daniel ship has sailed (Clemson) and the Anzalone ship is expected to sail after this weekend (OSU). Maybe we'll get lucky with Hutchins or Kalambayi but at this point I'd prefer a couple more DTs (especially a NG/1T) and a couple of stud receivers.
It has been implied that they felt pretty good about Gedeon, and it was going to be EJ or nobody as a 3rd LB. They will use that scholarship at another position if EJ goes to FSU.
But you have to wonder if they would make an exception for Hutchings. He's very good at the foosballs.
Hutchings is almost surely going to stay out west. He's not really in the picture right now. And he's also a WILL, which goes about five deep if Gedeon plays there.
Agreed... and awhile back, when Farrell suggested to watch out for FSU, alot of people here screamed punk and such.... at this point I'll be quite shocked if he comes north.
Agreed... and awhile back, when Farrell suggested to watch out for FSU, alot of people here screamed punk and such.... at this point I'll be quite shocked if he comes north.
not a troll just followed this kid for awhile and FSU was on him longer than any school...Mich would be a great choice as well but early pt is at fsu...I think this comes down to who this kid is playing with..Father made a statement last year that said defensive talent is going to be a factor. Fsu is looking to bring in 2 more linebackers after ej and look good for the num 1 linebacker in fla..And I kno you guys recruited pretty well at backer last year as did the noles...this is a big time kid in EJ and I don't care what rankings say when you get offers from lsu, bama, etc you can ball.
I chose this site over others because its not too bias here
I have a question for some alum of Michigan. What exactly is there to do in Ann Arbor, Michigan? If the kid goes to FSU, I can see why. There are beautiful girls all over the place in Tallahassee, ones who wear extremely skimply clothes at all times, and there are beaches not far away. Tallahassee, as a whole, is no Atlanta, but it is a nice little college town and has a beautiful downtown. The girls, though, dominant, and this explains a lot. I've run into Fisher many times and I've seen how he recruits at Doak. He has 20-year-old girls in dadgum high heels, red lipstick, and French nails driving these guys around to the dorms and to the other things they needs to see. In other words, Fisher uses mini-supermodels to help land these kids. I'm not kidding you either. These are not the normal girls on campus. These are like super-gorgeous pre-model girls (definitely not women, though). He is a shameless recruiter..
But yeah, outside of a great education, what is there in Ann Arbor? I'm not very familiar with the city. And what's the economy like in Michigan? The only town I really know about up there is Detroit, and I would never go there during a good economy.
There are some really awesome poetry readings.
recruiting is a shameless game all together....you don't beat programs like bama for eddie goldmans of the world without being shameless
This is going to be quite serious and kind of smug, so I will apologize in advance. Have you been to NYC, Ann Arbor is like a small NYC. Many things to do, many restaurants and like living in the village. Crafts and arts are abundunt. So you dont like that kind of stuff, ok, Detroit is an hour away. Too dangerous, ok, Chicago is a bit further away but good driving distance for a weekend.
Summer can get quite hot and the winter can get quite a cold, but the divergence in weather is refreshing. Fom my time as a student in A2, the only thing i didnt like was sundays. It was fairly dead, but when i went around and visited Detroit and Nashville and Atlanta, sundays were just as laid back. NYC was just different.
But, you can do anything in A2, everything is pretty much right there, but it compares to a liberal northern town. Leaving A2, and it does change. There is a reason why A2 is one of the top places to live.
As for the girls, every school has some good ones and not so good ones. With the population being around 36k when i was in school, you can find plenty of them. FSU has better looking chicks for sure.
Ann Arbor shows up on just about every list of good towns:
Best College Towns (#2)
Smartest cities (#1)
Best Small Cities (#46)
There is a ton to do even as a non-student living in the area. A fair amount of local bands (that are actually talented), a wide range of drinking establishments from Good Time Charley's to The Ravens Club (very different experiences), a ton of festivals, shows, and other events, and a 20 minute drive to a major airport. It costs a lot more to live in the city than right outside but it's worth it to me, there is so much to do.
It couldn't be more different than Detroit. In fact, just about every city in Michigan (except Flint) is way different than Detroit. I moved here from Maryland and found it completely different than the sad news stories they show about Detroit. Great place to live.
AA is one of the great (smart) college towns, along with Madison, Berkeley, Chapel Hill, etc. It's more quaint than beautiful, but there's plenty of natural beauty. The winters are chilly, but the spring, summer, and fall are idyllic. Yes, it's low on the trashy-blonde quotient favored by -- let's be honest -- Southern schools. If you're one of those recruits who prioritizes belly-shots and cares little about education, perhaps you'd be happier at LSU, OSU, or Arizona.
But, as for most of the things college kids require -- bars, food, parties, recreation, sports, etc -- it's right up there with the best. It's hopping on Saturday nights. M has the country's largest base of active alumni. And AA is the state's only thriving economy. The school is flush with cash.
Did we ever hear about his visit?
I just read an article on Rivals that says Michigan doesn't offer the major EJ is looking for. This may be the deal breaker with Michigan and he will go FSU. The article states that this decision is a 40 year decision and not a 4 yr. Damn it its looking like FSU is going to grab him.
If you go by what the family has said publicly it would appear to be Michigan. After his FSU trip he said he would decide in August. But he has said repeatedly when it felt right he would decide. Then he visits Michigan again and low and behold he's deciding long before August. I'm balancing the fact the gurus are more informed against the word out of the families mouths. The guru favors FSU, the direct quotes favor us. Let's call it 50/50 and tune in Tuesday.
Agreed, fantastic avitar by the way. Teachin' them right LOL.
saw this on Rivals. 7 on 7 camp next weekend in Pittsburgh, which both Shane Morris and Levenberry are set to attend. If he's announcing FSU on Tuesday, Shane might just harrass him about it till his head asplode.
