I'll trade him even-up for my U-M law degree. We can switch back after the season...

He called no tradesies-backsies. Now you're fucked. Go easy pimpin' that law degree out

Question. What constitues academic all-big ten? A certain grade point average or do they look at the average across the division and set a bench mark for people who made it and who are below? I have no idea so I was just wondering.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:26 PM ^
I'd be more interested in knowing if certain degrees get you some leeway in GPA.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:28 PM ^
Yeah good point. Id be pissed with my Chemistry major and a 3.4 losing out to sports management with a 3.7.

It has to be lonely up there on your pedestal...
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:02 PM ^
Did it turn your whole life upside down face?
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:19 PM ^
I'm not even sure what that means. Then again, I wasn't a chemistry major.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:23 PM ^
you should consider being able to dress yourself in the morning without falling into walls a great success.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
Neither was I, but apparently if you use it as an example ipso facto u r. Then in the process a narcissisitc prick. These are things ive learned today.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:52 PM ^
You did say "my chemistry major," so that leads one to believe that you did in fact major in chemistry. You must be able to understand the confusion.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:54 PM ^
Understandably so. Just a thought I had regarding the post before mine.
December 2nd, 2010 at 5:49 PM ^
are fun.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:11 PM ^
what's wrong with sport management?
December 2nd, 2010 at 7:13 PM ^
Whats the difference between a chemist and a chemical engineer?
a paycheck.
I kid I kid. But that is a joke I hear all the time working with both chemists and chemical engineers.

Chemistry 08....I barely stayed in the 3 range....
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:47 PM ^
...to the release:
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Thank you.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:54 PM ^
How can the name the team when grades for this semester aren't in yet?
December 2nd, 2010 at 8:14 PM ^
And as a chemistry major I really appreciate your avatar

It's even more impressive for Omameh given that he's from Columbus.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:32 PM ^
true, but he's not a product of the Columbus public school system.

Why does the Academic All Big Ten thing say he's a sociology major but his mgoblue profile says he's in the college of engineering?
EDIT: NVM some mgocreeper umich directory stalking says he's in LSA as a sociology major.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:25 PM ^
We already knew he was smart enough to leave Columbus.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:30 PM ^
Keep up the good work
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:31 PM ^
more academic all-big tens than athletic all-big tens
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:37 PM ^
Priorities mixed up?
This is the mindset that disgusts me about college sports today.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:54 PM ^
Keep in mind, he is from Lansing.

I'd love to hear your take on the state of the team, what you're hearing, etc.
If you'd like to wait until after the bowl game, I certainly understand. Anything you can bring to a rational discussion I'd love to read.
Perhaps start a new thread?

I will soon release some classified diplomatic cables between RRod and DB. Mary Sue and some guy named jajaja23 also make an appearance.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:32 PM ^
Out of a team that is over 100 players, I wish we had more than 8 people get recognized for academics. But congrats, nonetheless, it is well deserved.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:41 PM ^
number or something? Does anyone have any data on past years?
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:42 PM ^
Its all relative, right? The kids at Michigan are competing with players at 10 other universities including some of the very best public schools in the country.
[Edit: I just read the below posts and find that OSU has more than twice the number at Michigan. Yikes.]
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:34 PM ^
Congratulations to those who made it. Not sure how the Academic All Big Ten Team works, but 8 guys sounds like a lot. I think Rich Rod has done a good job stressing academics with this team, and I know it's one of the criteria DB is using to evaluate the coach.

The Big ten honored 190 academic all big ten football players, including Terrell Pryor.

OSU had 22
PSU had 19
MSU had 13.

I figured there would be about 50... 2 full offensive and defensive teams plus some special teams.
Guess we're not making the progress in the class room I was expecting and that's not good for the coach.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:00 PM ^
last year the team was at or near an all time high for cumulative GPA. If you actually believe there would be 50 you need to lay off of the sauce so early.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:22 PM ^
But when someone actually pressed Martin/RR for the GPA numbers last year, they couldn't provide them, or offer any comparison to the GPAs under Carr, so it's anyone's guess if that claim had any legitimacy.

I think somebody said it had something to do with this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FERPA
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:47 PM ^
I meant 50 total selectees across the Big 10... first team, second team, specials teams like they select the All-American teams. I didn't expect to have 50 UM players on the list, since that would be an insane percentage of the team.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:54 PM ^
They had to get a 3.0
A 3.0 at U of M is a hell of a lot harder to get than a 3.0 at OSU or MSU. (dunno about PSU)
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
It'd be one thing if most of the guys were in engineering, economics, etc. But..... they aren't
