I'd love to hear your take on the state of the team, what you're hearing, etc.

If you'd like to wait until after the bowl game, I certainly understand.  Anything you can bring to a rational discussion I'd love to read.

Perhaps start a new thread?

I will soon release some classified diplomatic cables between RRod and DB. Mary Sue and some guy named jajaja23 also make an appearance.

Out of a team that is over 100 players, I wish we had more than 8 people get recognized for academics. But congrats, nonetheless, it is well deserved.

Its all relative, right?  The kids at Michigan are competing with players at 10 other universities including some of the very best public schools in the country.

[Edit:  I just read the below posts and find that OSU has more than twice the number at Michigan.  Yikes.]

Congratulations to those who made it.  Not sure how the Academic All Big Ten Team works, but 8 guys sounds like a lot.  I think Rich Rod has done a good job stressing academics with this team, and I know it's one of the criteria DB is using to evaluate the coach.

The Big ten honored 190 academic all big ten football players, including Terrell Pryor.

OSU had 22

PSU had 19

MSU had 13.

I figured there would be about 50... 2 full offensive and defensive teams plus some special teams.

Guess we're not making the progress in the class room I was expecting and that's not good for the coach.

last year the team was at or near an all time high for cumulative GPA.  If you actually believe there would be 50 you need to lay off of the sauce so early.

But when someone actually pressed Martin/RR for the GPA numbers last year, they couldn't provide them, or offer any comparison to the GPAs under Carr, so it's anyone's guess if that claim had any legitimacy.

I meant 50 total selectees across the Big 10... first team, second team, specials teams like they select the All-American teams.  I didn't expect to have 50 UM players on the list, since that would be an insane percentage of the team.

They had to get a 3.0

A 3.0 at U of M is a hell of a lot harder to get than a 3.0 at OSU or MSU. (dunno about PSU)

If it was engineering I'd be amazed. I worked my ass off for my ME 3.0 classes were curved to a strict 2.7

Even if they take only the "easiest" U of M classes I doubt the average in all of them is above a 3.0. And if these guys who have a full time job (football) can also do at least "average" in a U of M Classroom, that's really impressive
