Effing Pumped About Michigan Football Right Now

Submitted by Caesar on

Is anyone else wildly optimistic? I look at the secondary, the linebackers, the d-line--and I'm pumped. I look at our QB, our newly-dedicated  (and highly touted) RBs, and I'm pumped. I see wide receivers with big time talent, and I'm nearly bursting. I see a schedule that should be relatively easy on the O-line  (ND's line is pretty young), giving them time to mature until things get nasty, and I just can't wait anymore. I'm thinking 9 wins, at least. I'm thinking this year Michigan beats Ohio. I'm thinking that if we had State at home, I'd guarantee a win.

I am pumped up.

drugs and you actually expect me to take your opinion seriously?  Go hit a joint a couple of times and if you still feel the same way then I may give you an audience with me.

Anytime I feel like the OP I just turn on the spring game... works like a charm to get me back to reality.  ;)

I will feel like the OP 12 months from now.  If Shane is legit and this year doesnt go haywire i.e. the team improves throughout the year even if it means some losses, I think the groundwork is being laid (with an easy schedule) for a 1 loss type of year in 2015.

2014 though? Not so optimistic in record - I am looking forward to seeing if all these young players flash and look like a better squad in November v September.

B!G media days start today! Live on BTN starting at 10:30 EST. Freshmen report Saturday and upper classmen Sunday. Tired of all the June negativity, the arrests, suspensions etc throughout CFB. Time to watch Michigan football and more CFB!

Because I want it. I do agree with 9 wins out of this schedule. I'm actually glad that the media overall seems to be very pessimistic on us this year. Hopefully it'll give the team that constant edge week in and week out.

The defense is gonna overtake msu this year...so yeah.... Im pumped about finally seeing a michigan DL. Henry and hurst and later, mone and poggi, the latter who, i wish would play OG. Saban wanted him there for a reason.
now is the time to take the over on wins, and bet penn st the under.

I'm pumped every year about Michigan Football. I guess I'm just a bit more cautious in my pumpedness this year simply because our O-line was so god awful last year.

Obviously I could say I think we are going 12-0 and I think that's part of the fun of being a fan but as yrs past have shown I'm not going to pass to much judgement on this team until I see how the msu game plays out.  I hope Nuss has some stuff up his sleeve for that one cause its going to be mainly about how the offense performs in that game.

I want to be pumped after seeing a healthy Deving Gardner just fire the ball around in spring.  Watching Funchess one hand grab on Peppers is not helping to calm me either.  However first year OC and an OL that is so young just seems to ask so much of them to win on the road against ND, MSU and OSU.

There is this guy though~

Thats exactly what we all should be asking of them. Thats why you come to MICHIGAN! They all have the talent and rs sophs are still grown men at 21 or so, I would assume.....cant wait to get back to the years of starting 4 and 5 yr seniors routinely who are like 23 years old!

I, too am quite excited about the defense.  I am a little less optimistic on the Wide Receivers though, simply because they are largely unproven.  Other than Funchess, we are speculating based on talk or showing promise.  There certainly is a lot of potential there and I think they will step up, but it may take some time for Darboh, Chesson, Canteen, etc. to get fully on the same page as DG.

but I am not optimistic. I know that almost seems like an oxymoron, but I can explain. I get pumped for Michigan football every season. I love it and have not missed a game for over 21 years! Win, lose, or draw it's my favorite 3-4 hours every Saturday during the season. Unless basketball is on the same day, then it's tied with the 2 hours of basketball and I just call that day the honeypot.

The reason I am not optimistic is mainly because of the o-line. We all know that is a huge concern and it's just totally unknown how they will perform. We were awful with Lewan and Schofield and I don't see anyone on the roster playing close to their level at either tackle spot.

I also have my reservations about the defense. Countess and Taylor are just ok to me. There are valid reasons why they have to play 5-10 yards of the line of scrimmage. That really hampers how aggresive we can be on defense. I am ready for when we have CBs who can bring quality press coverage again. I think we have some on the roster, but they are young.

All that being said, I can't wait to see the team take the field on August 30th! Go Blue!

i agree, pumped and optimistic are 2 totally different animals.  itd be great if we could predict mich to finish top 5 every year but optimism hasnt reached those levels.  optimistic for 9 wins seems on point and rational though.  but the best part about college football is you can just throw optimism out the window and still be pumped.  another month and the best 14-15 weekends of the year begin.  whether its app st vs mich or wisc vs lsu, its football season!  some nice games week 1 and week 2 is a monster as always (hopefully with mich over nd and oregon smashing msu), but its all good, even random acc games do the trick.  and if you cant get jacked up for football season in general, then throw a few bucks down and make pretty much any game interesting.  pumped

but I'm not sure I see it. Unless there's a big change in our O-line, or MSU's offense, I think MSU's defense will control again. We haven't scored a touchdown against them since 2011

The coaches have worked really hard to build the talent, depth, and experience back to where it was pre-RR.  I think we'll really start to see all of it paying off this year with the defense, running game, and OL blocking showing real improvements.  That being said, there will still be some bumps in the road this year.  So, I don't see an 11 or 12 win season certainly.  10 would be over-achieving, and 9 would be the most likely assuming no big screwups.

I think where the program will really be back at the top is the years after this season where both lines finally have the talent, experience and depth, the skill positions are loaded, and the defense has the play makers and confidence to play aggressively most of the time.

Sorry off topic but I bought a 3 game ticket pack this year and have yet to recieve them. Any idea when they get mailed out(that's the option I chose)?

Anyone who isn't can go crawl under a rock. We're fans, enjoy the pre-season part of the year where every single team has a chance. Especially one with this much talent. Go Blue!
