EE Timing Question re: Tennesse

Submitted by Clarence Beeks on
So I just happened to be checking the preps section of my local newspaper here tonight and noticed this article about two local players who are EEs at Tennessee. Tennessee starts classes on Wednesday. The players are already there, but haven't started classes. Are they locked in, or can they bolt if they withdraw before they go to class (or is the standard something else entirely)? Not that they are potential pick ups for Michigan, but rather I'm curious as to what the actual timing requirements are. http://www.goupstate.com/article/20100111/NEWS/100119954/1088/SPORTS01

But have they received any benefits such as room and board that constitues part of there scholarship and locks them in? I don't know, but this is an interesting question.

There has been rumors that Ed Orgeron had contacted most of the recruits, with a text "You're welcome to join us at USC" and with regards to the EE's, http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2010/jan/13/sources-say-orgeron-telling-…. I guess if they attend class, even for a minute, they are officially an athlete and thus would have to sit out the year if they went to USC (as a transfer).

For the other recruits, I guess so. Well then again, he isn't a coach at Tennessee anymore, so he shouldn't be able to talk to any of their committed recruits, right?
