EDSBS Brady Hoke Spoof

Submitted by Everyone Murders on

Many of us may have read Maureen Dowd's Op-Ed piece on ingesting too much of a weed-infused candy bar on a recent visit to CO.  The folks at EDSBS reimagined Dowd's piece as written by our very own Brady Hoke after his first experience sampling some herb.  Mercifully, there's no mention of Kelly Baraka or Mitch McGary in the piece.

The short spoof and the comments are worth a look.  As a teaser, here's one observation from the fictional Coach Hoke:

I noticed that if I held it in for a few seconds, I felt even more euphoric, like how Mark Dantonio must feel whenever someone properly identifies where Michigan State is.

Serious question - what is EDSBS?  It is an Ohio State blog?  If its a national type website I'd consider this a very bad view of Hoke - why of all coaches would they pick Hoke to look like a moron.  It is a very dismissive angle.

EDIT: I see it is part of SBNation but I mean specifically the EDSBS portion

EDSBS is "Every Day Should Be Saturday," which is the SBNation site for U.Florida, though it's popularity as a general purpose college football humor site means that they tend to cover college football nationaly.

The guy who runs it, Spencer Hall, is friends with Brian. I don't know if that's the source of his pleasure is poking fun at Michigan (he makes fun of all teams, including his beloved Gators, but he seems to like Michigan a little more than the rest of the football hoi polloi), or if it was the other way around.

I think it's meant all in good fun. I get the impression that Hall likes picking on Michigan, in part, because he kind of likes Michigan and it's stuffy fanbase (also, in part, because Michigan can be easy to pick on).

What is their deal with the Big Ten? They are an SEC blog, but all they really do is bag on the Big Ten. It's funny, but c'mon. Hatin' Ass Spurrier is gold.

Isn't this the site that has the fundraising contest every year that Michigan invariably wins. Also doesn't Spencer attend a Michigan game every year as a result of the fanbase winning the contest every year. If so at least he has a connection to Michigan.

"Then I started to feel a change. Everything became very slow, and very deliberate, like an Illinois-Purdue game played on a field made of oatmeal."

All other things being equal, the oatmeal might be the only thing that gets thrown for over 100 yards in such a contest.

Someone mentioned something about Hall coming to Michigan games -  he has written about them on occasion. He actually did a very interesting writeup of the Michigan / Ohio State game in 2012. The perspective that a person who is a fan of neither program on The Game is unique, I think - I think he called the article "Blatant Homerism" for that particular game.
